10 yr old on DDP?

We are contemplating adding on the DDP for our trip in May. This is the first year my son will be considered an adult. Most places I've made reservations at have something he will eat off of the adult menu. My question is, if there is a place or 2 that he can not find anything on the adult menu that he likes, will he be able to order off of the kid's menu and still use his dining credit? I wouldn't see why not b/c in the end, they are getting more money out of the deal if he eats a kid's meal. It's not like the opposite situation where someone has paid for the kid's plan and wanted something off the adult menu.

There was a similar thread recently, and most places will let them order something off the kids menu.

Another option that we went for was to pay oop when our 11 year old wanted to eat off the kids menu. We did this twice and my husband and I got an extra TS credit each which was a better use of the credits to us. He could get a complete TS child's meal for $8.00, and we figured a $40 meal for us was a better way to go.

We've had the same issue and never had any problem ordering off the kids menu and using the adult credit. While thats always an option there may be a better way to find your child something they will like. When our child said they couldn't find anything they liked the server would always ask what they do like and made it for them. They can easily modify any of the menu items, or in many cases make something not even on the menu. From what I gathered its a common issue with kids and Disney does a great job to make sure the kids get something they'll eat.

Note that the above works if you have a child with the adult DDP. If they have the kids DDP they are stuck with only the kids menu items with only minor changes available.
