10 YO Bday party in wow? ouch

ds asking me if we could have all 13 of us at ohana for his birthday. $$$$$ i'm thinking, that 'd be so expensive.

he keeps saying he wants it at a wdw hotel or in dtd...

trying to keep a budget, anyone have any thoughts or ideas if you've done this and how?

What about the new bowling alley at dtd? What are the ages of the 13 people included?

Maybe TREX for dtd with a limited menu to choose from or you choose ahead of time....or just Ghirardelli for ice cream to celebrate?

Don't know the details but there is a sign at Goofy's Candy Co. that says they do birthday parties there.

We went to Winter/Summerland putt-putt for my sons birthday one year. We had annual passes so golfing was half price = very budget! Everyone had so much fun. After you could go to Beaches and Cream and get a couple kitchen sinks or walk to the Boardwalk side to Seashore Sweets and get sundaes or cones and watch the Boardwalk performers in the evening. If they know it's your son's birthday he's sure to be pulled into the act

OP, maybe limit it parents and kids for O'hana and then something else for family? I like Tallent's idea for the DTD stuff

I assume you live near WDW, so travel isn't included in this cost.

Is is possible to go to Ohana's just for dessert? Perhaps at an off-time? Order ahead of time rather than letting everyone order from the menu?

When my girls have asked for something outrageously expensive, I usually give them a budget and help them work through the options on what they can get for the money. Options might include:

- He decreases the number of guests.
- He switches the location.
- He figures out how to earn more money.

This. We had a choice as kids between a party full of friends OR dinner out with one friend and our family. The family finances simply did not include expensive outings for large groups.

If you have a mix of adults and kids, I would questimate the cost at around 500.00. You just have to decide if you can afford that or not. Is it all family? I would have a hard time paying for a group of 10 year olds that are going to be adult priced, not knowing how they will eat.

We have friends that do more expensive parties for their kids than we do, but they do not give the kids a gift. The party IS the gift.

Lot of good ideas for cheaper parties. If everyone is local, do they all have APs. Maybe a few hours in the parks, and just do CS or ice cream for everyone.
