10 year old - reaction to adult menu

I think it depends on how big an eater she is. A small eater, just order the kids version if available, cheaper and she gets it plain. Big eater, you can ask for the adult meal served any way you like.
They are GREAT and will even "create" something to her taste. Captain Jacks once made picky DS then 11, his own pasta dish with shrimp that was not on the menu!! He still gets steak plain as well as avoids most all sauces and gravy.

In my experience, yes, they will allow older kids or even adults to order off the children's menu when not on the DDP. On the plan, I believe they will let an older child order off the children's menu, even maybe give a larger portion, but an adult TS credit must be used. This is in large part why we are not staying onsite for our upcoming trip. One of the main benefits for us of staying onsite is access to the dining plan. My 63lb 10yr old DD just does not have an adult-sized appetite. She would be more than fine with the child's portion. We couldn't see paying $42 a day for her to eat off the kids' menu. In fact, as hot as it will be the end of July, none of us are likely to be huge eaters. Crunching the numbers, it just made more sense to stay in a Windsor Hills condo. We are paying OOP for breakfasts at Chef Mickey's and Crystal Palace because dining at those places is essential to our Disney experience, but other than that meals will be counter service we can share or she can eat off the children's menu and then eating at the condo.
