Even though we have to pay for my 10 year old son as a "adult" for the meal plan will they allow him to order off the kids menu if he wants to?

Some restaurants we are going to he would only like kids menu options (he is very picky !)

In most cases, yes. Restaurants generally allow anyone to order off of the children's menu regardless of payment method. There have been sporadic reports that a few of the third party venues do not always allow an "adult" to order from the children's menu (I've read reports from La Hacienda and Marrakesh, but they are from a while ago and did not seem uniformly applied).

What about at QS locations? I know my DD10 will be fine at TS locations, but I cam almost guarantee that she'll want kids meals at QS.

You shouldn't have a problem ordering a kids meal at a counter service location. But it will drastically reduce the value of the dining plan, especially if you're paying for it.

I thought of that. Wondering if it might be best to use her QS credits for DH or myself for breakfast or something and pay OOP for DD when she wants kids meals. The problem is that we have left with QS &/snack credits unused on prior trips with DDP. I know this isn't on topic, but can we use our DDP all day the day we check out of that package? We check into a 2-night RO after that, so we could use the extra QS throughout that day if so. Didn't know if once we checked into the RO reservation if DDP from package automatically becomes null and void?

Sorry for hijacking this OP, but glad you stared this thread!!

Yes, you can use them all day until 11:59pm (they say midnight, but technically, midnight would be prior to check out time :rotfl:).

Should be fine. Just remember to pay OOP for his kids meal and save the TS for yourself on check-out day or earlier so that 1) you're getting more mileage out of the plan and 2) you won't have any tension or hassle at the restaurant with regards to DDP rules and what everyone can order. If you're paying OOP, you can typically order whatever you want.

My 2 cents, I also wouldn't use adult QS credit on a kids meal. The kids meal options are more limited (pb&J anyone?) and there are kid friendly options for adult meals that are much larger (8 chicken nuggets vs 4, full personal pizza vs 1/2, decent fruit cup vs package of 10 grapes) and it would still cost you that 1 QS credit.
