Just found out our DD is pregnant! 🥰 we had a special mother daughter only 4 day trip planned the 3rd week in April. Other than no crazy coasters or jarring rides, any other tips for this trip? This is a first in all the trips, 25 or so, that anyone in our family is expecting...I'm super excited but also a bit concerned..

Congratulations!!

As far as tips, I think it will depend 100% on how she is feeling. I had an incredibly easy pregnancy and other than crying hysterically through every performance of Voices of Liberty, I had very few symptoms to speak of. We live about an hour from Disney and visited often right up until the week the baby was born and I just skipped anything with a pregnancy warning.

Some are struggling with morning sickness at that point so you may have to just pace your trip if she is.

Advice for anyone visiting Florida in the heat, especially those expecting: hydrate! I drank water like it was going out of style when pregnant and realized real quickly that my usual plan of just stopping by QS for free water wasn't cutting it (I burst into tears waiting for free water at Electric Umbrella once) so we started bringing a huge water bottle and stopping often to refill it before I got desperate ;)

Hope you have a great trip!

Thanks! I think we'll bring a small backpack with a couple extra bottles of water so she'll have immediate access to drinking water.

It's not just the "crazy coasters" or jarring rides. She should not be riding any coasters at all, or anything with drops. Even something like the teacups is not recommended for pregnant women. It's not just that it can make her feel ill, it's the risk of miscarriage. Her rides should be limited to the easy boat rides, simply rides like PP or Ariel, shows, etc.

Yea,that's pretty much what we're planning. Alot of resting on benches, shade and people watching while soaking up the atmosphere.

not a lot of benches any more that might be harder than you think. plus any boat ride can be jarring at end as boats run into back of one in front

She will be able to ride almost everything without a height restriction. I’ve gone pregnant twice. There are so many delicious snacks to enjoy! I loved eating my way through the parks.

go at her pace, let her rest when she needs, mid day breaks to put her feet up might be necessary depending on how she's feeling and hydrate, hydrate, hydrate!

Nausea and sensitivity to smells is very common at that stage of pregnancy. I would bring peppermint or ginger candies, as well as, the motion sickness acupressure bands called "seabands" for her. The ginger might settle her tummy. The peppermint might mask any scents bothering her. The seabands were magic for me while pregnant--it was the first time ever I was motion sick.

Also, make sure to save extra room in your luggage for all the cute stuff you will want to buy for your grandbaby.

Lol! I think that's gonna be her priority!

Can I get that acupressure band online?

Congrats! I’m local so I visited all the time when pregnant. At 10 weeks my only issue was being tired often and having an aversion to certain foods (I could not eat anything fried while pregnant, even the smell made me want to barf). I avoided everything that says pregnant riders should not ride, as well as Pirates and Frozen due to the drops.

I would strongly recommend postponing. I was so miserable at that point. Nausea and severe exhaustion. We took a non disney trip and I couldn’t leave the hotel. If you can wait til 20ish weeks it will be much more enjoyable

At 10 weeks I was fine pregnant, even with my twins I had no morning sickness and went to Hershey park. The embryo is like an inch big, a m/c in the first trim is usually meant to be, just not a viable pregnancy. Unless she has moderate/severe m/s, I see no reason why she can’t live life normally.

I'm definitely keeping that idea on the burner. If at anytime she feels like she can't enjoy the trip, we will definitely postpone.

Yes, I agree completely. As long as she is feeling up to it we're gonna go. 34 years ago I was pregnant and didn't know at went water skiing, boating, etc...and baby was fine, I realize this is risky behavior and should be avoided, but back then when I found out I was pregnant my doctor said the same exact thing. That baby is my daughter who is now expecting.
