10 weeks pregnant...BTMR bad idea?

Honestly I don't think Splash Mountain is that bad at all and can't imagine why it would be pregnancy restricted.

The reason these type of rides are restricted is that they pull your legs into a position that isn't good for a fetus. It might not be a problem in the early months, prior to any pooch, but it could cut off oxygen/blood flow to the baby later on.

I did the Disney marathon

This is exercise. The general rule with exercise is that you can do anything during pregnacy through pregnancy when you have no problems with exercise.

I don't mean to be preachy; I just feel that some people don't always have all the information and I wouldn't want someone (the OP or a lurker/another poster) to read these things and do things that shouldn't be done (for them) without first discussing it with their doctor. If you do consider riding these rides, talk with your doctor.

one of the other reasons is that the sudden change in direction at that steep angle could theoretically cause the placenta to detatch.
For some of the bumpy rides, that's one of the reasons as well.

Probably it would be fine BUT I personally don't think a 5-minute roller coaster ride is worth the possible risk. Also, I think that the guilt you would suffer should there later be any complications with the pregnancy/birth/baby (even though they would probably be unrelated) would be tremendous and again not worth the 5-minute ride. BTMRR will always be there--this baby's pregnancy will not. You'll have other chances to ride. JMHO

Enjoy your pregnancy and congratulations!

Wait a while and ride the fun rides with your little one when you can see the excitement on his/her face in person! Don't risk it.

Thanks to everyone for your input/ advice. I really do appreciate it. I would never even consider BTMR if I were further along in my pregnancy, but at 10 weeks I'm not even showing. I honestly didn't think there'd be much risk to the baby this early along (this is not a high risk pregnancy) but now you've all got me thinking. Of course if anything were to happen I'd never forgive myself so I will most likely avoid this ride, along with the other "thrill rides".

No, Dh cannot take dd4 on this ride. He is VERY motion sensitive. I don't even know how he'll handle dumbo. And dd is VERY much a thrill seeker (like mommy) and I really wanted her to experience this ride. Well, there's always next time. No need putting the new little peanut in danger.

Thanks again!

Follow your doctor's advice on which rides are right for you. Most of the warnings on rides are more about protecting Disney from liability than they are about protecting you and your baby.

You have a 10% chance of miscarrying during the first trimester, and if it happens you'll probably never know why. But if it happens after you rode a roller coaster you weren't sure about, even if the roller coaster had nothing to do with the miscarriage, you'll always blame yourself.

Parenthood comes with enough guilt. Don't set yourself up for more.

Last year I was pregnant at WDW. I avoided most of the rides. I kept asking myself, "okay, if something happens to me (pregnancy), will I always be blaming myself for going on that questionable ride?"

If the ride has a "expectant mothers should not ride" sign, don't ride it.
