Just be aware that if you are a member of the Safari Club you cannot use your Safari card in confuction with this offer. I got that email too, was excited until I read the fine print.
In my experience you can't ever use your card benefits with a coupon anymore.....and that's a coupon of ANY kind....including the free kids meal coupon that the kids get at the library reading program. Of course THAT coupon doesn't say anything so we ended up paying for an appetizer that we wouldn't have ordered if I'd known. Learned that lesson, now I show the server anything we have and make sure it all works together. Nor can you get the free appetizer with the Kids Eat Free (here it's Wednesdays but I don't know if that's the same everywhere). My DH's response was to let the kids get their own table, lol.
I definitely have already gotten my money's worth out of this membership (for anyone not in the know, it's $15 one time fee and they send you a $10 gift certificate, so it's really only $5 fee), but I find myself not nearly as enthusiastic about going to RF anymore since the benefits just keep shrinking. I remember the good old days when you got the appetizer free, could use coupons (and the coupons were emailed out every month or two, now it seems more quarterly if that), and the kids gift certificates were actually GIFTS not penalties!
I did send a polite letter pointing out that these changes in policy should be on the gift certificates the library hands out since many of us have been getting them for years.....and that these changes have made RF no longer my first choice for dining when we're looking to go out.....didn't even get a bulk mailing thank you. Used to be any email to them, compliment, complaint, suggestion, question, request.....whatever it was would be answered promptly and usually with a little "something" (which I'll admit after the first complaint envoked a $5 off coupon, I would email a compliment or suggestion after each visit, lol). Of course, probably doesn't matter, because that $5 off would mean I couldn't use the card which is worth about the same discount. Stacking coupons was such fun!
Oh well, shouldn't be eating out often anyway right? Budget and waistline agree.
