10-Oct-2009 - Eastern Magic St. Croix

I am excited! I booked 2 nights at Bay Lake Towers precruise - woo! I decided a lake view room would be fine, since I plan on being AT the Magic Kingdom, not in my room looking at the Magic Kingdom. Now if airfare would just cooperate. I've been and will continue to be checking every day until I find a decent rate and schedule.

Fine, don't come to see me :(

The airfare is outrageous right now. It's almost half as much as what the cruise is! Our 2008 taxes are with the CPA as we speak. Fingers crossed she has good refund news for us - our cruise fate lies in that refund!!

Looks like our cruise is a "go"! Got our income tax return yesterday back from the CPA and did the happy dance!! Now...I need to find reasonable air fare!!

Good luck with that. Do a ding for me if you find that they're down for some reason. They're absolutely ridiculous here.

My friend suggested Air Tran. I checked them out and found excellent rates. But I have never flown Air Tran before. You?

No, I haven't, but I'm considering it for later this summer to fly to NYC. DH noticed some flights with a connection (blech) that are $200. Going to check it out now.

Ooooh Bay Lake - we were just over there the other day eating dinner at Chef Mickeys and walked by the Bay Lake section - it is looking really nice. They have done a great job on it!

:cool1: :cool1: :cool1: :cool1: Hurray - great news!

Hi all - sorry I haven't been on in a while - life has just been crazy with school, work, etc. I updated our roster with our recent losses - very sad hopefully they can all enjoy a cruise soon. Hope everyone is hanging in there through all these trying times - you can definitely tell this is a different year than normal by how quiet this board is! Anyways - so anyone started their fish extender gifts?

I have started THINKING about my FE gifts...hard when you don't know the numbers. But I will get started soon!! Waiting for a Cricut cartridge to be released.

:woohoo: I've been so happy since we confirmed we can still go on the cruise. I've been reading TR's and searching information on hotels for the night before the cruise. Airfare seems to be coming down a little bit. Southwest releases their October rates in April so I expect to see drops then??

Thank you for that tidbit of info - I'll still keep looking for decent rates, but hoping that they'll drop when southwest releases those dates.

I found "decent" rates on US Airways if we want to fly in the Thursday before the cruise and fly home the Monday after. This is do-able for us if DH can rack up more Marriott rewards points and we can stay in hotels for 3 nights on points. But if we fly home the Monday after the cruise, you know that is going to tempt the heck out of me to go to Universal or something. But flying home Saturday or Sunday is just outrageous, $300 each!

From Denver, it's $300+ to fly nonstop regardless of whether I come back Sunday or Monday. It's about $50 cheaper to take a connecting flight, but the schedules are awful, and not worth the extra time and brain damage.

United has cut their flights to Orlando to 4 per day, and Frontier is down to one. No matter what I do, travel days are wasted vacation days. I haven't noticed that Southwest's rates are appreciably cheaper than the others, but we'll see what happens next month.

Hello all!

I am officially checking in. We were on a cruise last October and said that with $$ being tight, we had better not rebook on board. Of course we were assuming we would not take another cruise for a couple of years, yet last week we changed our minds and here we are!!!!

Denise
Mike (my dh)
Mark (ds, 12 at cruise time)
Drew (ds, 9 when he embark, but 10 when we disembark!)

We are really, really looking forward to this trip! Last time I chatted a bit on the boards, but was too shy when the time came to actually meet anyone on board. I am hoping to get out of that silly funk with this cruise.

I posted my hello and then went on back and started to read some of your posts. Now I am really full of excitement as I see that many of us have some commonalities!

JDBlair, I too am from Chandler, Arizona! Small world, huh? We are in South Chandler,
where about are you?

To all of you that are working full time, going to school full time, and raising kids, I feel your pain! I am currently working on my doctorate online through Walden University while teaching and raising the boys.

I am even more excited than ever to get to know everyone!

Welcome!! :cheer2:

I check this thread from time to time but rarely post..I am also working full time and going to school full time!! :sad2:
By the time we cruise I will be done with classes and just have my intern hours!!
I am so addicted to the Trip Reports!!!

I was worried there for awhile we might have to cancel, but that is not the case!!
I was sad to see we lost some co-cruisers.
I have already purchased some FE gifts..I made a ton of door decorations and extra ones in case there are families that don't have any.

We have flown AirTran, they were ok-I would rather fly with Southwest.
I am now looking into booking the hotel the night before.

Take Care~can't wait to meet you all!!! :woohoo:

I am also South Chandler! - Lindsay and Riggs
We are bring several non Dis Boards friends with us this time also so it will be a ship full of people from Chandler!
