$10 in park meals

I'd love to see a running series on this. Give Ryno and Steve $10 for lunch and see what each picks. Have them scour the parks for gems though, not just that pizza or burger sold everywhere.

I've had some success doing this. My go to is the Qrocue Monsieur at Boulangerie Patisserie in France for $8.75.

This would be great! It's perfect for helping a person on a budget find a variety of things to eat. And yes, I feel very odd saying a $10 meal is a budget meal...but it _is_ Disney in park!

I LOVE the mufuletta sandwich over @ the Port Orleans French Quarter Sassagoula Floatworks food court! It's currently listed @ $7.99, and all adult sandwiches include fries, house-made chips or bean salad.

While yo're there, I also love the beignets for dessert, or a snack, currently listed at (3) for $3.29 with the dipping sauces being $1.99 extra (I haven't had them since the addition of the dipping sauces, and personally would not need them!), or (6) for $4.59, with the dipping sauces being $1.99 extra. They are also on the DDP Snack Credit, so that's awesome. YUMMMMMMMMMM

I usually eat my wonderful lunch either on the little patio outside the food court in the pretty wrought iron chairs looking at the beautiful streets/gardens and people watching, or on a bench overlooking the gorgeous Sassagoula River. Wanna be there right NOW!!!

What a good idea. Sort of like Rachael Ray's old show where she had something $40 a day to spend at a tourist location (she may have even done WDW, I don't remember). I think it would help those who do have to budget and be fun to see what they come up with.

There was an old show on (maybe?) the Food Network where chefs (famous, and home) were given a certain amount of money (I'm thinking around $50?) and told to shop/create a meal of their choosing for 4 people with the money. I used to LOVE to see what each different one would come up with! And they would be VERY proud if they could come up the most UNDER budget!

Yes I think I remember that. I went through a big cooking phase when I was like 7-8 and I would watch the food network all the time.

It's not uncommon for my daughter and I to eat a meal somewhere in the parks for under $20 combined.. (both adults if you don't know). Even lower when it's the counter service windows found around springs and I can use TiW to get it lower...

Just about any counter service you can do for under $10 a person if you go with the free ice water and not try to add other things to it.. Some of my more interesting choices that tend to be where we go if hungry and willing to spend money to get some food.

- MK: Different types of Mac and Cheese at Friar Nooks. Always filling, might be enough for 2 people to share making it under $5 a person depending on how hungry you actually are.
- MK: Casey's Corner hot dog meal. giant hot dogs, probably good for 2 people just don't load it up and your under $10 (well maybe a hair more with tax) but $5 each isnt' bad for 2 people.
- MK: Chesire Cafe, technically a snack shop but a couple muffins, some fruit and you have a simple breakfast or meal to hold you over for longer for 2, under $10.

- AK: The Smiling Crocodile, again technically a snack place, but the smoked cheddar grits is an interesting $6 option that is more than your normal snack.
- AK: Trilo-Bites, the buffalo chicken waffle slider is a nice change from just normal burgers or chicken. not a huge portion though (as is most of AK)
- AK: just keep looking for all the little stands that sometimes are easy to forget they are around. Some are just a window in the wall and you need to look out for it.. (the pannini near the hamabe stage is a good example, never a line, nice options that are easy to split hard to notice as your passing it with the crowd, directly across the from stage and restrooms on the tuskerhouse side of the walkway. walk a little further up the walkway to the fruit market to add in some fresh fruit and you have a nice lunch with some freshness for 2 or 3 for under $20.

- HS: Fairfax Fare has an interesting salad that is a nice change of pace (and the loaded potatoes just miss the $10 cutoff question)
- HS: Backlot Express has a nice Caprese Sandwich

That is a great tip (getting a kids meal) if you are on a budget. It may be something for me to think of for my trip coming up.

I also find that some meals I can share with whomever is with me. I know at Columbia Harbor House the shrimp and fries is enough to share. Another good meal to share is the pork chop at Sunshine Seasons (yes it is more than $10.00, but the portion size is just so large you have to share).

kids meals are great and a lot of locations have the "power packs" which come with a lot of individually wrapped things (carrot sticks, grapes, etc.) that was also save for a snack later in the day - so you can get a meal and a snack out of one fee. The kids breakfast meals can also be a good value as they have plenty of food and much cheaper than their adult counterparts

We do the sharing thing a lot too - even at table services my wife and I will often share an appetizer and an entree and always get enough food out of that

or just getting an appetizer as your entree can be a cost savings as well - especially if you are thinking of dessert. I could definitely make a meal out of the pate and then bread pudding at Raglan Road for example
