We just returned from the Poly (Aug 15-24). We had a great time ! The CM's at the Poly were great, but they were great everywhere else also. We requested and received 3rd floor, Tokelau, away from elevators and vending machines. We were in room 3923, and it was very quiet. We had groceries delivered from Garden Grocer, no problem. We had baskets delivered from Baskets by Betsy (Sarah), and while they were smaller than I expected, size wise, they were awesome. We had 10 day Parkhopper tickets, so we came and went often. The best part of the trip was probably the look on the faces of my DD and DS when we got there and they found out we were staying at the Poly, not the ASMusic as we had originally planned ! My DS had stayed there with us when he was 6 (15 now), and my DD had never stayed there (she's 10). We tried the Dining plan for the first time, and while we saved $,it really is a lot of food !! We don't usually eat 3 or 4 appetizers and desert every meal ! We ate at Chef Mickey's for breakfast (a staple for us), O'Hana for breakfast, LTT for lunch (my DW's fav), Boma , Marrakesh, Biergarten, Coral Reef, Mama Melrose's, San Angel Inn, and Crystal Palace for supper. The only meal that we did not enjoy, was at Mexico. I know many people like the atmosphere, but we thought it was very cramped, and the food was very below par. But that's our opinion ! We also did lunch with an Imagineer, since my DS is a fanatic and hopes to work at WDW, and it was worth every cent !! Very informative, casual, just a great time. We ate with Kevin James, who is a senior graphic designer (which just happens to be what my DW does ). We did P and P party on the 21st, and while it was our first hard ticket event, I can't imagine it being any better. Walked onto every ride, met Capt. Jack Sparrow (20 min. wait), found lots of "treasure", had front row seats to the parade 10 minutes before it started, and saw the Pirates fireworks 3 times (twice from the Poly beach, where we feel is the best place to view them ! Let's see, what else ? Asked for and received early morning mousekeeping every day (we asked for before noon ). AND, ran into the Dream Team on the 5th day after not seeing anyone with Dream Team stuff until then. They were at Walt's Imagination in the Studios when we walked in, asked how many in our party, and gave us Year of a Million Dreams lanyards and pins !! After that day, there were people with Dream fast passes everywhere for the next 5 days ! But we never saw a team member again. But who's complaining ?! There were not really any negatives during our trip. Well, maybe 1. My DS was a little under the weather for a couple of days, so we had him checked out this AM and he has mono ! It slowed him down, but only a little ! Just thought of a couple other things. The Poly Volcano pool is really TOO SMALL !! If we didn't use the pool by 10 AM, it was unbelievably crowded. And then it spilled to the quiet pool. In case you don't know, and I didn't, there is no deep end at the Poly pool. I think the deepest it gets is 4.5 feet. And it is zero entry, so there are a million kids. Needless to say, my kids gladly passed on the Volcano pool and went to the quiet pool. And then only late at night. Another thing I didn't know is that Capt Cooks stops serving breakfast (except muffins) at 10:30 AM, so if you want breakfast, get there before then. Preferably much before, because it gets very crowded, very quickly. I think that's enuf for now. PM me with any questions. Have fun !! :thumbsup2

Sorry for your son! What a way to start the school year.

But glad to hear that your Polynesian stay was so nice. Can't wait to go back!

Wow -- you guys covered a lot ! Thanks for sharing. We agree about Mexico, but we may give it one more try on our upcoming trip.

How was Boma?

Boma was delicious !! I had 5 or 6 bowls (small of course !) of their soups, and each one was delish ! I didn't try the seafood one, because let's face it. We're from Boston, and while our chowder may not be the best, it's gotta be close !! My DW tried it and said it was ok. The ones I tried were way better than ok !! I tried most of the other native dishes, and they were all great. Wish I could remember what they were, but we ate so much food in 10 days that my brain (as well as my stomach !) were on overload !! And there were plenty of non native dishes as well, enuf to keep our 2 non adventurous eaters happy. There were also 4 or 5 different salads that my DW tried and said all were excellent. So, Boma is now a staple for us. We had been there for breakfast, but dinner was so much better. I could eat there and just have the soups and be quite happy (and fat !) Good luck ! :thumbsup2
