10 Days in California- trip help wanted

oh for the love of god, fly into oakland NOT SFO, such as easier airport to manuver throughout the bay area, if you plan on ONLY staying in san francisco, then use sfo, but otherwise use oakland.

thanks, I actually intended to, as I would be flying SW, I just said SF to give a general idea of where I would like to start and finish - y'all in the know about California caught me though!

thanks so much for such wonderful ideas! I'm really excited about the trip! Another question - thanksgiving will be one of the days on our trip - where should we be on that day? Where should we go for dinner? Are things open in San Francisco? Are they open in other towns? What should we do?

I would highly reccomend a stop and tour at Hearst Castle in San Simeon. Followed up by lunch or an overnight at the Madonna Inn.
I would aslo reccoment maybe a day trip over to Catalina Island if you can swing it. And the Hotel Del in San Diego is cool for lunch.

Hey!!! This was gonna be MY post!! What rooms have stayed in at the Madonna Inn? Years ago I was in a cave room and we also stayed in an Irish theme room. I took three tours of the Hearst Castle, really interesting and fun. Del Coronado is a great spot. I'd stay there for two nights and do the San Diego Zoo to see their FIVE pandas. Where else, other than China, can you see FIVE pandas all at once?

Check out The Clift Hotel in SFO; it's Phillipe Stark's newest design sensation!!! Very chic! The Huntington Hotel is also very luxurious. For Big Sur and a real luxury hotel, the Post Ranch Inn.

So: 3 nights in SFO, 2 in Big Sur, one at the Madonna Inn and at least one Hearst Castle tour, 3 at Disneyland and 2 in San Diego at Del Coronado is an 11 night/10 day romantic and fun vacation. Perfect for any active and loving couple. Have fun!!!
