Has anyone canceled a resale purchase recently? Getting some “Murphy’s Law” karma literally hours after sales agreement signed. Might need to replace a vehicle and put off buying. Looks like radiator & maybe transmission going😖 Not worth repairing a 12 year old minivan either…what to do???🤔

While buying two out of my 3 resale contracts I’ve had unexpected car issues & ended up buying a new car, I’m almost afraid to buy another contract because I’m afraid I’ll end up w/ a new car as well haha. Fortunately I knew the cars were getting old & in each case had been saving for their replacement, so I was comfortable proceeding w/ both DVC & buying a car each time, although it left me w/ lower cash reserves than I like for a couple of months.

You have 10 days from the day you sign and still get your deposit back. I had to back out of a deal earlier this year. In my contract, there was language stating you have to submit notice in writing to a certain broker address. In my case, I just called my broker and was up front- explained why I was having to back out. Broker took it from there and communicated to the title company to return my deposit. I didn't actually have to write anything formally. Good luck!

Thanks - we’ll do some number crunches tonight. My DH thought just a hose replacement but his buddy who is a mechanic said trans is about to drop. Ugh!

Thankfully it happened now and not two weeks from now. At least you have an out. It's a good reminder that stuff happens! Good luck!

Financing rates are better for vehicles than DVC property! DH recently retired and lost his company car. We used severance to pay cash for his “retirement” home at AKL and then got his “retirement” car at 0.9%.
Sorry if this delays your purchase.🥲
