10/4/08-Buccaneers Take the West! Cruiser List in Post #1

Hi guys,

Just a quick update.

At first they were telling us we'd be hit head on with a Cat 2 Hurricane but now they're saying a 1 or even a tropical depression so your prayers, thoughts and pixie dust are working. However, they're predicting more than 15 " of rain.

Miranda, my DIL, had to bring Nate to me from Shreveport because daycares are closed Tues and Wed and she still has to work (she works in a bank) so he'll ride it out with Nana! He'll be a hurricane baby! His collarbone is now completely healed.

Right now, the skies are over cast and there's a gentle breeze. Funny thing, the birds are all gone! We feed our wild birds and have TONS of them. There are none to be found. That's kinda wierd!

We're keeping the laundry done up and have filled the bath tubs with water to flush the toilets if necessary.

We've done every thing possible to prepare and now we just wait.

Lois,

Your DGS is very talented! I was blown away.

To all you girls losing the weight!! How dare you?!?!?!;) No really, that's wonderful for you. Keep up the good work.

I'll post later!

Happy Labor Day everyone!

Denise - that is great news about Gustav becoming a tropical depression before it reaches you but all that rain - be careful and I hope you are high up and don't have any flooding problems.

Happy Labor Day Everyone!

Denise, thank you for updating us. Prayers are continuing for you and your family.

Hope everyone has a restful and relaxing day. If I can ever get my laundry caught up, I am going out to hit the clearance sales to see what I can find for the trip.

Have a great Monday.

Gena

:laundy: I gave up trying to get that caught up years ago. I never have enough to make a load when I finish. Washing beds today actually.

Hello everyone,
for those in in path of the storms-stay safe. The count down is really on now, I always get a little stressed at this point:scared1: Is anyone dressing up for Pirates night. We are and I don't want to be the only ones. We did it on our last cruise and it was so fun and made great pictures.
Also I am fininshing up our FE gifts and I still don't have a couple of family names for them. IF you would like your gift from us personalized please PM me with your last name or the name you would like on it.
The weather has turned to fall so now I can pack all the (not stained, ripped or too small) summer clothes:banana:
Can't wait to meet you all,
Christine

Thanks Mollygirl13 and congrats on your 17 lbs loss, that's great. Losing weight is not an easy.

I ordered my Disney Visa Reward card today. YAHOO!!! I got $545 extra dollars to spend. :woohoo: Ashley will probably spend it all at the arcade.:scared:
Been making my to do list of things that have to be done before we leave. Things like canceling my newpapers, having my mail put on hold, making a reminder to check in with the airlines to get our boarding passes 24 hour before we board, checking on rental cars. Ordering rental car while on the islands.
I ordered our tickets to do the Old Town Trolly while at Key West. It's a little bit cheaper to order them online than it is to purchase them there. We where going to rent an electric car but decided against it cause Geneva has never been there is she wants to be a tourist. So we'll do the whole tourist thingie for her.:lmao: But, in Grand Cayman we are renting a jeep to head to Rum Point Beach for a good bit of the day, then off to Hell. I have promised Geneva for years that I would take her to Hell and back, LOL. I always keep my promises.
I did order natural biodegradable sunscreen, have to save the coral reef.

No pirates costumes here, I'm tiring to pack as lite as possible.

I'm off the clean and yes do laundry.
You all have a great day,

Hi All! I am glad to hear the storm has subsided and lessened its hit!
But this did bring up a first timer question...if a storm is coming in and could effect our cruise, how will we be notified? Do they contact you prior to the date of departure or do we find out by getting to Port Canaveral?
All these storms just makes me so happy that we fly in the night before.:thumbsup2

Storm messages are usually posted on the DCL website, right on the first page. We will be at WDW before we cruise at OKW so we will have free internet (so I hear anyway) and I will keep an eagle eye out. I would also happily give anyone my cell number if you PM me.

I certainly hope that Hanna doesn't cause anyone much grief either. Not that Gustav was pleasant company or anything, but, from what I have heard and seen on TV, not Katrina like thank goodness.

I hope that everyone had a pleasant weekend. I didn't labor too much yesterday. David took Drew back to school and stopped to visit a scout friend on the way. The dog and I just took it easy but today is back to the old grind. I can't believe that 4 weeks from tonight I am going to MNSSHP!

Take care and stay safe. Denise - I hope you are all OK with no damage.

Bumping us to page 2. Off to middle school football tonight.
Have a great evening.
Denise- if you can get this, hope you are all well.
Kim

Good catch Kim. I looked at lunch and we were still safe but never had a chance after that.

Denise - oh Denise. We all hope that things are well with you, house and yard intact and no unwanted water.

We're back from a wonderful weekend with Paul and Anna and their parents. The time went by toooooooo fast.

Jacquelyn and Ginger -- Congrats on the weight loss. :cheer2:
I'm trying with no success. I think after our cruise, I'll go back to WW meetings.

Denise - Hope you, Steve, Nate and your friend are doing well. Hope to hear from you. Maybe you've lost electrical power?

Lois - your grandson has great talent. You must be so proud of him.

We have good news to share - Dave is now going on our 9/14/08 Wonder cruise. He finally went back to work after being laid off for about 10 weeks. I have to contact DVC to book him. Airfare is reasonable even at this late date.

Have a great week everyone. Our meet aboard the Magic will soon be here.

Jan

We were hanging off the bottom of page one so I thought I would push us back to the top.

Jan - tell Dave to give Ann Marie a hug from David. And it is also good that he is back to work. You will all have a grand time.

Airfare - is very odd these days. I had to book one of my co-workers a flight and I could not believe what I found - for travel THIS Sunday no less. Just amazing.

Drew is dressing for the soccer game today - I can't believe I am going to take the afternoon off to watch him warm up and stand by the bench - but I am going to, unless something at the office makes an emergency appearance.

Have a great day everyone - it is Wednesday already. I love 3 day weekends.

Thank you all for your warm wishes, Prayers, pixie dust, etc.....It worked!! We are fine and everything went well. We had rain but not torrential. A few limbs in the yard and loss of power for about 24 hours. I would have emailed sooner but our cable went out too and that's my Internet provider. Alexandria, LA, just an hour east of us got hit very hard. Please remember them in your prayers.

Nate is still here and will be until the weekend. He's wearing his old Nana out and I wouldn't have it any other way.

Thank you again.

By the way,

Lois, your DGS is so talented!!!

Denise... so glad you are doing well. Gustav really fell apart after crossing Cuba, and that was truly an answered prayer. We are really keeping an eye on Hanna right now. It is headed for NC, and they think a Cat 1 coming through Raleigh.

Welcome Back Denise
So glad to hear from you! Will remember to keep your friends to the east in our prayers and so thankful that the storm was relatively mild. Can't believe all the different storm systems lining up one behind another...sure hope it settles down in the next few weeks.

Good News...today we received a package from Disney. It was our Magical Express tickets to get from the Beach Club back to the airport after the cruise. Hmmm...strange that the first thing we get are the tickets to go home ;)

Hello everyone,
One month from today Chris and I will be at The Hyatt and I'll be too excited to sleep!!!!!!! Wendy-we'll have to get together since we will be there the night before.
I'm already packed so I don't have much to do but wait and read the DIS!
All I talk about is this cruise. I'm sure my family, friends and co-workers can't wait for October 3rd to come so they don't have to hear about it anymore.

Denise- so glad to hear the storm was better than originally thought. SO good to hear from you!!

Lois- How many days for you now?????

Jacqueline...we will definately figure out something to meet up at the Hyatt. Too funny when I read someone else talk about being so excited and that they are sure family, friends and co-workers will be glad when the vacation actually gets here. That is exactly what I think about how my family, friends and especially co-workers feel. I have listened for years about how we should go somewhere other than Disney. Finally, when we cruised for the first time last summer, I was able to say we were going to Nasseau (with Disney)...lol

Denise - SO GOOD TO HEAR FROM YOU. I am just a "stewer" so have been thinking about you and yours a lot and I am happy that all is well. Now I hear that Kari needs our collective prayers and pixie dust for Hanna. Do we have anyone else in that path?

Ike looks pretty nasty at this point. And then there is Josephine messing around out there too. There has been quite a string of late.

Well, take care everyone and have a good day. We fly in 23 days!
