10/4/08-Buccaneers Take the West! Cruiser List in Post #1

ColeAnn... Congrats on the new job! :cheer2:

Now to bring everyone down... is anyone else getting concerned about the tropics? They are predicting Gustav to be a monster before he hits land, and it looks like he is looking at Louisianna. Then look at the Atlantic basin, and there is 1 system with low probability of strengthening, and 2 behind it with medium probability. Maybe we need to turn some prayer and pixie dust in that direction! And seriously... anyone who booked excursions on their own may want to look into whether or not they will get their money back if the ship misses the port. :sad2:

Tania,

How long of a plane ride will y'all have?

We have a 12 1/2 hour (approx) flight to LAX. We leave Auckland on a Monday evening and arrive in LA Monday lunchtime. The kids think this is hilarious :rotfl: . We are staying the night near the airport & then the 5 hour flight to finally arrive in Orlando on Tuesday evening :) .

Tania

Yep. We were hoping to do the whole trip in one day but the only flight we could connect to meant a 10 hour wait in the airport :scared1: .

Luckily the plane to LA will have individual TV screens so we can all watch what we want. Although for an overnight flight this is probably not a good idea - difficult to sleep when your watching movie after movie after movie :lmao: .

Don't know about the LAX-MCO plane though :confused3 .

Tania

I don't know about you, Tania... but I get my best sleep on the couch with the TV on! :rotfl:

Yes, well I hope that works as well on the plane :lmao: .

My DS is the problem. We did a trip that required over 24 hours travel (2 flights of around 12 hours & a 5 hour wait in between).

How much sleep did he have - around 2 hours  .

Why - because there were so many games to play & programs/movies to watch why waste time sleeping :rotfl2: . He was nearly 7 at the time.

He has informed me he will be watching movies this time as well. We'll see ;)

Tania

A little Benadryl can go a long way... ;)

Tucker has trouble sleeping a lot. I give him a melatonin about an hour before bedtime, and another on his way up the stairs. It seems to help him.

Maybe I should try that at home. Blake doesn't sleep a lot. Reads till really late & wakes up early (except on a school morning :rotfl: ).

But my DD had something like that when she was younger & it made her hyper  . Not the effect we were looking for. knowing Blake it would do the same to him  .

Tania

Hello everyone. Made it safely back to Michigan yesterday and got myself sorted around. I hope everyone is doing well.

Coleane - great news on the job front!

Denise - keep us posted on Nate's progress and glad to hear things are going well with his recovery.

Jacquelyn - how is Katie doing? I picked up Walter (what an odd name for a dog) this morning and thought about her again. Hope she continues to improve each day.

Storms - Pixie dust to whoever is in Gustav's path. Since they have not named the one in the Atlantic maybe the will just go away. Did anyone here feel the aftermath of Fay? I read that some places in Florida had 2 feet of water. I can not even imagine. What a mess that must be.

Well, guess I ought to get to work. Take care everyone and have a good day.

We are getting the remnants of Fay right now. Nasty, drizzly rain all day yesterday. Today they are saying it could rain as much as 2 inches an hour in some spots.

Hi everyone,
Katie is doing a little bit better every day. Her pneumonia is completely gone and her incision is healing nicely. She gets her stitches out next week. She had another acupuncture treatment yesterday and the Dr. is very optimistic about her recovery. Katie still doesn't have full use of her back legs yet but this is something that we are not expecting recovered for a while. We are just doing what we can to help her along.
We are truly happy she is home and just praying that one day she'll be completely
back to her old self again.

That is great news. Forward momentum is a VERY good thing and baby steps (or would that be puppy steps??) in that forward direction are just super.

I am on the countdown at work!!!! Getting so excited just want to tell teh boys so they will be excited with me! Guess it will be more fun them finding out when we get there.
Off to work. only 22 more work days before we leave.
Kim

Good Morning!!!

Jacquelyn - glad to hear that Katie is getting better each day. :cheer2:

Coleane - congrats on your new job! It may turn into something you really like. :dance3:

Denise - how is little Nate doing?

Gail - glad you're home and that your mom is doing well.

Gustav - in 2004, Gail and DH and Dave and I were on the Magic when Hurricane Jean interrupted our DCL cruise. That was a fun week!

I've been busy the last few weeks - at work. Working for attorneys, I am never without work.

After today, I have only 7 days to work until the 9/14 Wonder cruise. :cool1:

We're leaving tonight and heading to Morgantown, WV to see our previous grandchildren - Paul and Anna and their parents. Can't wait!

Have a great long weekend everyone!

Jan

oooohhh Tania! Girl..that looks good, lol. I keep thinking...we're almost to a month...we're almost to a month..

I did buy a dress for the cruise yesterday, but thinking I may buy one more. I think this one could be worn for formal or semi-formal, but I'd like to have another one for the other night.

I'm sending up prayers for all in LA. I haven't watched the news since yesterday afternoon. What's the forecast for that area now?

Lori p. :)

What ever happened with your oldest? Does he know, or did you bluff him out of it? If he knows... pull him aside and quietly celebrate! :cheer2:

If they are previous grandchildren... what are they now??? :lmao:

I don't think Gustav will bother any cruises, as it is heading into the gulf. This AM has it moving more towards the Louisianna/Texas border. Hopefully it won't strengthen as much as they are predicting. I am concerned about the number of storms brewing in the Atlantic basin right now. Tropical depression #8 is the one you need to watch Jan.
