10/4/08-Buccaneers Take the West! Cruiser List in Post #1

Welcome Mindi, Shelley and families!!!!

I'll add all of you to post #1. Glad you're cruising with us fun bunch.

Nicole: Your grandfather is in our thoughts. :grouphug:

Gena - Glad to hear that Quinn is responding to the medication.

Jacquelyn - I know you must be enjoying your stay at Ocean City.

Momofapirate - Dave and I usually stay in Cocoa Beach the night before a cruise and frequent Grills. Grills gives discounts to anyone with an out of state driver's license.

We've had two of our 6 grandchildren since yesterday morning. They are going home soon. The time flies when we have them.

Have a great weekend everyone.

I have played at the Manor!!! It is a beautiful neighborhood. I am the worst at remembering names, but that would be very weird if we had played. My name is Gretta, I forgot to post that. On another board it was in my siggy, so i forgot that it wasn't on mine here. Yes I am horribly uncoordinated and not athletic, but I made a deal with DD if she would take tennis lessons so would I. Now I am on 2 different tennis teams and she quit. How's that?
JanDave- I just read really good stuff about Grills and my DD is a seafood nut, so I think that is where we will go. Thanks for verifying that it is worth the hype and an insider saving tip can't be beat

Gena-
If you need anything, we are about 20 minutes from Vanderbilt. He is in great hands there. DS13 spent a week there in March and cant say enough about them, he was also there at 1 with third degree burns to the hands. He is in our thoughts and prayers.

Shaggy is doing better today, looks like rocky mountain spotted fever from a tick. Vet says with antibodics for a week and keeping his fever down he should recover.

getrting ready to make hotel reservations for thursday night, DSFIL has decided he does not want to travel straight down. so we will travel for about 8 hours and sleep for a bit, then drive to the radisson friday morning. may do kennedy space center friday but we will see how tired we are. will be in the pool by dinner for sure.

have a great rest of the night.

Hi everybody!
We are home from Ocean City, NJ. Had fantastic beach weather for the entire week. It was a great vacation but we missed Katie alot. (She doesn't travel well so my dad is her sitter for the week!!)
Its great to see our newest members! I am glad to be back to a normal computer so I can DIS more frequetly. Looking at the Internet on the cell phone gets to me after a while. But I did check in while I was away to see what you were all up to. My husband says I am addicted to the DIS.

BTW, I just read that MNSSHP on October 3rd was cancelled! I know some of you were planning on going that night.

Here is what I read:

Anyone going on October 3rd might want to call Disney.

October 3rd's Not So Scary Halloween Party

Due to an operational need, Mickey's Not-So-Scary Halloween Party will not be available for Friday, October 3, 2008.

Hi all.
Hope you had a good weekend.
Jacquelyn, glad you had a great time away.

The kids are back at school today. They are not pleased but I have told them that each week at school is another week closer and we are now 9 weeks to go till we board our flight to LAX :cool1: . They work better in weeks than days until we get closer. Apparently 63 days 9 hours and 7 minutes seems too far away :lmao: .

Hope everyone has a good week

Tania

I'm printing all of my door magnets out tonight. :cool1:
It must be getting close to our cruise if I'm in the printing stages!!!!

Alright... I am a little freaked out! I can go online in less than 2 hours to make my ressies... and the DCL website can't find my reservation. :scared1: I am hoping it is a temporary glitch, and I can get on in a bit. I know someone else was having this problem the other day, too. I didn't want to do Palo, so I am not going to die if I can't get on tonight... but I did want to go ahead and register for kids clubs and my Grand Cayman excursion... just to prove to myself that I am really going to be on that boat!! :dance3:

Jacquelyn... let me know how your door signs come out. I used Printmaster, too. I hope they come out good! I think I am going to save mine to a jump drive and print them out at Kinko's (my printer sucks! :rolleyes1 )

Not to worry about the web site. I can't get on either. So the whole site is down. Hopefully they will get it up and going soon.

Traveling with kids provides a whole new area of things to think about - hoping to get some advice here from some of you who maybe have been there.

Our kids will be 9 and 6 at the time of the cruise. Neither one can swim well by themselves (for sure not well in the ocean). Are there typically life jackets for rent at the various beaches? What about Castaway? I also thought about them for the tenders - and I suppose could bring their swim vests but it's one more thing to haul through the airport and we try to pack light.

Another thing is carseats. Our kids are big enough for booster seats - and I am pretty much a stickler in making sure they ride in those all the time in the car. On the plane they will not need them. I'm thinking with our rental car, we will just request them. Going on some of the taxi rides that I've been on in ports with them seems a little frightening to me and I'm wondering how other people have handled this. Do you bring a booster with you? A travel vest? Take public transport? The public transport would probably be easiest (like a bus) but I haven't found that we can get that for sure at the various stops.

Thanks in advance for any help. We tend to be a little bit like Marlin (off Nemo) which can be good and bad I guess.

Kari,
I printed all of them out and they all look fantastic!!! I am very proud of myself & my printer is not too new. I did go to Target this evening and bought a good quality, glossy photo paper. That might be what made them look good! I would love to post a picture but I saved eveything in PDF format and cannot post the images. :( Maybe I'll take a picture with my camera and post it. They are all drying on my pooltable at the moment.

And to make matter worse anyone planning on flying Midwest needs to check on flights, I just read that they are not flying to Orlando from September 8th to October 20th. So much for our flights. I am on hold to see what my Options are. I will post as soon as I speak with a person if I ever speak with a person. Lois

I'm so excited! My DH just said that we can spend two, maybe three nights at WDW when we disembark. THat will ease the pain of getting off the ship a little. I'm leaning towards the cabins at Fort Wilderness since they will sleep 6. Anyone stayed there before?

I wanted to go to MNSSHP, but I can only do that if we stay three nights. anyone else going on the 13th?

Lori P. :)
