10/4/08-Buccaneers Take the West! Cruiser List in Post #1

Hi, everyone! Just found this thread! My DH Rex and I will be joining all of you on this cruise! This will be our 2nd Disney cruise. Our first was Jan 07 - Eastern itenerary. We loved it and hope that this one will be just as fabulous!

Anyone with any suggestions as to excursions, I'd love to hear them. Thanks!

Kim

Ginger - Glad the fall break thing worked out. I'm going to have to take a week off from school b/c they moved our break to the third week of Oct.

Kim - Glad to have you on our post! What part of NC are you from? Carolina is my home state!

Lori P. :)

Lois - catch that tail and you can stop running :rotfl:! I pulled my kids until they got to college and then they stopped going with us as we always seem to cruise in the fall.
It seems my tail is not long enough for me to catch. I keep trying but it gets more difficult as I age. I must admit I will be glad when January gets here.

Welcome to our group. I love to snorkel and do that at least once each cruise. Last year we went to Tulum when we stopped at Cozumel. It is costly and very long. Lunch isn't the best and OMG it was hot. However if you have any interest in history; it was awesome and I plan to vist another ruin site this trip. There are many options and I am sure you can find something you will enjoy.

Happy Dance!! I just got our school calendar for next year, and our break is when I prayed it would be!! Woo hoo! Earnest planning can now begin! 301 days!!!

Ginger:cool1:

Yea!!!!!

:welcome: Kim and Rex! Glad to have you joining us. DH and I did the Western in '05 and we did the Native Way Rays, Reef and Rum Point tour in Grand Cayman and had a blast. This was an awesome tour - the stingrays were amazing. And we were not on one of the boats that appeared to have 200 people on them - only maybe 25 in our group so we had lots of attention from our tour guides and it didn't take forever to get everyone into the water and back out again. David had been very skeptical about doing this excursion and absolutely loved it. I really think it is one of the best cruise experiences we have ever had. Here is the link

I had mine docked and just don't worry about it anymore. Seems to work most days - for me anyway. I do what I can do and try not to sweat the small stuff (and it is the small stuff that is typically the issue with me).

How is everyone doing with their Christmas shopping / decorating / baking?? My plan to clean a cornor a day went way south so I hope to do a marathon cleaning this weekend and hopefully work on the tree early next week. I have not baked a thing and find it difficult now with David not being able to eat it but will have to do some. My shopping is going well - almost done actually. It needs wrapped but that part is easy. Actually the shopping isn't bad it is the figuring out what to get that takes all of my energy. The older the boys get, the more difficult it becomes for me.

Well, enjoy your weekend everyone.

Thanks, everyone, for the warm welcome! I'm just so EXCITED about this cruise!

Lori~We are from the eastern part of the state - Greenville. Ever heard of it? This is Pirate Country!

I snorkeled for the first time on our last cruise while we were in St. Thomas. It was AMAZING! LOVED it! We did the Captain Nautica excursion and they were fab-u-lous!!! I do want to snorkel again this trip. I'm also a history buff, but DH is not.

Thanks for the info! This sounds great! I must admit, though, that I'm a little freaked out by the stingrays now, given the misfortune of Steve Irwin. I know it was a freak accident, but still. But the pictures on that website look amazing!

I look forward to getting to know you all as we wait for our cruise to set sail!!!

This was before Steve's death but I held the ray's tail so they could video the barb - or whatever the technical term for it is. The only think I can relate it to is the thorn on a rose, larger but the same shape and it goes in the direction of their tail. It is nothing that I would ever want to tangle with but I will go back and get in the water, and probably hold that tail again. It was an absolutely amazing experience. Then I don't think I mentioned this before but the food was great at Rum Point too.

Very cool - I am in Raleigh.

Hi all. I haven't been posting, as we weren't sure we would be cruising after all. Luckily, things are turning around, and I think we will get to cruise after all. Just couldn't bear to post and plan if I wasn't going to go.

We have been very busy getting ready for Christmas. Worked hard to clean and decorate the house... but the kids have done it in! I'm hoping to clean it really well this weekend, and maybe I can keep it that way through Christmas!

Heard of it? I am an official ECU alumni, lol. :cheer2: I graduated from there in 2000 and moved here to Chattanooga. My entire family is still there. My mom lives in Ahoskie, NC (about 1 hour north of Greenville) She and my stepdad will be going on our trip as well.

Kari, I understand about not planning when you're not sure. I had originally planned to go on a cruise this past October and posted on that cruise thread for about 5 months until I realized I would have to cancel. I hated to have to tell those guys good-bye.

I've been discouraged because we haven't been able to make any payments since the deposit, and now we are only 10 months out! I do home daycare, and had a big turnover in kids over the last few months... darn preschool! On top of that, we had to give in and buy a car, after not having a car payment for 6 years! Finally things are getting back to normal, though. DH asked me what I wanted for Christmas... and I told him to slap a chunk on my cruise! :santa:

This is the current list of everyone who has posted. Is anyone keeping a list of who is going?
This Information needed would be Birth name (First); relationship to others in your party; ages of kids; stateroom or cat; Dining rotation (early or late); and Anything you might be celebrating while on board. Remembering that you only need to give the info you are comfortable.

I am willing to do that but don't want to step on any toes. What do you all think? Anyone already collecting the info and where might it be found? Lois

Lois - the only list I know if is the one that Jan is keeping in post one.

We missed you karibritt01 and totally understand the making plans and fearing you won't be able to go. I "been there, done that" just recently and it was no fun, especially since my children did get to go. But, they had a great time and got to see all the extended family.

Well, I think I am off for some Christmas shopping (very minimal but going to look) so take care, enjoy your Saturday and try to stay warm.

Hi Everyone. Found us on page 2.

I haven't posted for a few days. We've been busy with Christmas shopping, still got more to go  . Also my DS had a project to do based on the zoo (the school visited Auckland zoo a couple of weeks ago, so they've all been doing things based on that and the Rainforest). It was handed in this morning but he still has to finish his model of a lion enclosure (thankfully DH is helping with this -I'm not at all creative).

My DD has her ballet end of year performance (nothing major - a demonstration of bar work & each class are doing 1 or 2 dances). Tomorrow night is the school prizegiving and then on Saturday we have the Christmas parade which our school is in. After that there is only 1 week left of school :cool1: .

Our weather was great last week, but the rain arrived for the weekend. Unfortunately the humidity went up so it's been unpleasant the last couple of days. This is the time of year I really hate as I get a lot of headaches in the humid weather. And shopping is soooo much fun in weather like that :lmao: . everyone seems to go crazy.

Hope everyone has a good week.

Tania

We were on the Eastern the week that Steve Irwin died. We went snorkelling in St Thomas and a stingray was seen. A few people wanted to see - I went in the completely opposite direction as fast as I could :scared1: . Even now I don't think I could get too close to one.

We were back on page two. Everyone must be busy with the holiday. I am looking for some pixie dust. I was watching the weather and they are forecasting up to 1" of ICE in the next 24 hours. Last time we got a lot of ice we lost power for 8 days. Not fun. I don't like snow but I hate ICE. Please keep some positive thought for us in the frozen midwest. Lois

pixiedust: pixiedust: :sunny: :sunny: pixiedust: pixiedust:

OK - that should do the trick! Snow is bad enough (we must have 6 or 8 inches on the ground now) but ice is in a category all by itself! Very dangerous. Hopefully, you will stay warm and all will be well - or it will just snow.

LOL... I sent my kids to school in shorts today. It's supposed to be 78 and sunny for the next 2 days. I like that we are having such a mild winter so far, but it does make it hard to get in the Christmas mood. Actually, I was at Wal-Mart at 1AM trying to finish my kids' Christmas shopping. $650 later... Christmas has definitely arrived! :scared1: I will be spending this week cleaning my house, as I found out yesterday my daughter's Daisy Girl Scout troop will be having their Christmas party here on Thursday night. The joy of seven little girls getting hyper in my kitchen while their parents sit in my den for an hour, with plenty of time to criticize my house-cleaning... or lack there of! (insert smilie cleaning toilet here!)

This weather is killing me. We just finished putting away our summer stuff, getting out our winter gear and along comes 72 degree weather. Where in the heck did that come from?:sunny:

I think I've gotten most of my shopping done. Just need to get some stocking stuffers.

Lori P. :)

70's - shorts???? I have not seen the ground since early November and my guess would be that it could be spring before the white stuff is gone. I will say it is early this year but I imagine it is here for the long run as there is no letup in the long range forecasts. It is a bit warmer though - 28 degrees.

And shopping done? I get a little closer every day but not there yet. I should have wrapped this weekend when I had the house to myself - what was I thinking :crazy2:?? Guess I wasn't. My two oldest seem to want things they need - I think they should have something they would not get for themselves. Sheets and George Foremen grills are so bland. But, that is what was on the :santa: list so, so be it. No one will ever find either of those itmes on MY list.

Well, have a good week everyone, keep up the good work with all your shopping, wrapping and decorating. Hope to get our tree up this week.

Hello Everyone!!!!!

I feel like I've been away from our thread for months. We had a great Thanksgiving weekend in Morgantown, WV with our kids and grandkids. We also had a great overnight stay on our way home at the Great Wolf Lodge in Sandusky, OH with our Michigan kids and grandkids.

Once we were home, I was so sick one day at work that I went to an urgent care center and was diagnosed with pneumonia. I did go home that day, but continued working the rest of the week. Also, I've been working a lot of OT. Not surprising as I work for a workaholic.

Welcome Kim and Rex! Glad to hear you're cruising with us.

Tania - I want some of that summer weather!!! Can you bottle it and send it to Michigan?

Lori - Don't worry about any gray hair. I keep my hairdresser happy by going frequently to cover my natural gray. I'll be 57 when we cruise and as Gail said, age is just a number. I love Lois' attitude, haven't grown up yet.

My Christmas shopping is done! Of course, I cheated and did a lot of online shopping. Lori, I'm giving all the kids money for passports for them and the kids. As I am cruising with my Michigan kids/grandkids on the Wonder on 9/14/08, I also bought the girls DCL tote bags when we were on the Wonder 2months ago. I've filled it up with stuff and will include the check for passports. I have finished shoppin for the grandkids, too. Just finished wrapping all the gifts, too.

As for decorating, I have not done that this year. I'm usually the early bird and get the decorating done by mid-November as we do a lot of weekend traveling this time of year. After we got back from WV and I started feeling better, I decided not to decorate this year.

We're celebrating Christmas with our Michigan kids/gkids on 12/22 in Kalamazoo. We're going to a jumping/bouncing place in the morning, dinner and gift opening at my DD's house, then to the hotel and the kids can swim. We're heading to WV on 12/28 and will return on 12/31. Can't wait to see all 6 of my precious angels within one week.

Enjoy the rest of the week.

Jan

The pixie dust seemed to work. We got ice but only lost power for a few hours. So much better than 202 when we were without power for 9 days.
