10/27 2012 A little Halloween MAGIC!

Check them out here:

I did my best to balance them with total number of participants, ages of participants and rough location (fore/aft) in the ship of the staterooms.

Be sure to look at the three tabs (located at the bottom of the browser window) to see the Master List (by DISBoard name), Group 1 and Group 2.

I can't wait!

Yaaaa!!!! I'm SO excited! Thank you for taking on this huge task :)

Hello! My name is Crystal and my family will be cruising for the first time on DCL! My two DD Alyssa 13 will be celebrating her 14th birthday on the Magic! October30! My DD Arianna just turned 10. We have researched and are looking to connect with other families that will be cruising with us. I have also found some information on Fish Extenders. Anyone have information on this? Anyone participating. I already ordered one from Etsy.

Also, anyone doing any excursions? We are thinking about booking directly with the dolphinaris to save money.

Also any one have experience with skyiping back home or connecting via internet.

Welcome Crystal!

As to the Fish Extender group - our group just closed last week! But if you go to post #200 by Joyebean you can access the googledocs for our group and at the bottom of the document is her email address. I suggest you email her and ask about possible options for your family.:goodvibes

This is our first DCL as well so I don't have any inside knowledge to share! We've cruise before on other lines and the internet connections were always sufficient for emailing - but we never tried skype-ing. The internet is a bit splotchy in places and usually runs slower than we are used to, but its workable. But I'm sure others on this board can provide more information as to internet usage information!

I can tell you the internet is VERY slow because it is via satellite and sometimes it doesn't work so I doubt skyping would be possible. I use it to check email and it takes forever. Maybe plan on just using email.:thumbsup2

To check email I usually follow this process (to save internet minutes!!)

Log in to internet - access email and quickly read email - then log out.

Go to word processing program and type emails I want to send

Access internet again, access email; then copy/paste previously created emails in word processing program into new email and quickly send!

Saves time on the internet and saves $$$$

Why thank you so much! I did find her email and she said she would add us as "if possible". Im excited! Im new to this but the anticipation is crazy! I cannot stop searching ideas for tshirts, crafts and fish extender gifts.
Looks like I may have to settle with calling from the ports to connect with my baby and make sure she is ok. I've cruised other lines as well and the internet was horrible. Plus I really don't like to check in on FB or Email on vacations. But due to the fact that I have my baby staying behind, I figured I would bend the rule this once.

they are probably posted somewhere else & I just wasted my time totaling up..... but that would be par for my day......

You may want to see which restaurants, bars, libraries(?), etc exist at the ports that offer free or open wifi, and preplan your communications, and even ask if they intentnally allow or block Skype (if I were a library admin, Skype would be first to go :) )

I have no experience using the internet link on the ship, but if it is satellite based (very likely) the latency (delay to send the signal up and back from space) can play havoc on communications. Voice will have an awkward delay where both parties keep talking over each other, and video can be next to impossible.

When my daughter was an infant, my husband and I went away for the weekend - this was over 10 years ago so skype and such wasnt available yet!
I knew I would be talking to her over the phone, but I also video'd some fun stuff before I went (like reading books to her, playing with her etc) and then had my mom play it for her while I was gone. This way, she still got to hear me and see me, even though I didn't get to see her!

Help Disney friends I need fe gift ideas. Im new and don't know what to do for gifts? Is there a place that Is best to shop for gifts? Helppp the I'm running out of time.

I saw some GREAT mini Disney tins on the Target $1 aisle. They're almost "ALTOIDS" size. You could fill those up with some type of candy or trinkets? They could be used later to hold coins, keys, jewelry, etc...

I don't have experience with FEs & I'm still trying to figure out what in the world I will do! :coffee:

This is such a good idea! I will definitely do this.

Yes, I know the satellite connection is very slow. What we have done in the past is use calling cards from Mexican ports. But I for sure need to see my baby's face. So I will research now for some local internet cafe's that maybe we connect to with Facetime.. or other ways. Thanks again!!

:wave2: does this include my family as "If possible"?
I don't know how to pull the latest spreadsheet. The one I saw was not in groups and didn't have our names added yet...
Thanks... :bitelip:

These were straight from the spreadsheets as of printing them up 30 minutes before I posted yesterday, I didn't know if it included the if possibles or not.

Joye, where are those listed? Will we make page 3 or add them somewhere. I am planning to bring extras for add on cabins, but may only have max of 10 extras of some items, others I have lots :)
