Anyone willing to share their Favorite Holiday Tradition?

:

My favorite used to be the party at my grandma's house...lots of goodies. She passed away a couple of years ago, so it's not the same although my mom tries.

Increasingly, my favorite is opening gifts with our kids. In our own house. With our own cider/hot chocolate/shiraz. I think that is why I feel half-hearted about going home for Christmas.

Where did all the non KK1's go?

Hockeychic? readyalready? Kimmilee? all5ofus? CarrianneB?

Hope we didn't scare them all off already.

Come back to us people. We're harmless! :cool1:

Tanya (arielhead) , Philip, Claire and Remington, Mom and Dad, and my grandmother are coming here this weekend to celebrate Christmas. We will have dinner and open presents. I am really looking forward to this weekend.
We will spend Christmas eve and Christmas at home. Some neighbors are coming over Christmas eve to eat and play games.
We will head to Scott's parents and sisters over the long new Years weekend.
I have the opposite feeling of Tanya, I think being far away from everyone is harder during the holidays. She is lucky and gets mom and dad Christmas morning.

Evening Sistah P.

I know what you mean about traditions changing when our loved ones leave us. Chucks mom always made Christmas so much fun. We would go over there on Christmas Eve in our pjs and pig out all night on nothing but junk food. We fell asleep all over the house. Then she would make this amazing breakfast of eggs, pancakes, waffles, hardrolls with butter, american fries, bacon, sausage, sweet rolls, juices, coffee and milk. After she died, we all tried to take over on the big breakfast. Chuck and I still do it but the other kids dropped it. I miss that Christmas and I miss her too.:sad2:

My mom always makes a nice breakfast on Christmas morning too (now whenever we celebrate Christmas morning). She always makes country ham and biscuits (yummy) along with other things.
I try to do a nice breakfast that morning too. We are usually up and opening presents before sunrise so I have plenty of time to make breakfast!:lmao:

I think my favorite holiday tradition is stockings. Whether I am filling them for my kids or opening the one my mom still has for me, I really like digging in there. Philip and I make efforts to put a little surprise in there for each other. (No surprise: Philip likes cash in his stocking.)

Usually our kids are not overly surprised with their presents(whether they asked Santa or us), but their stockings always have the surprises.

We're imitating Christmas with the Kranks this year. Since my dad is in the hospital and will be for the next few months, we decided to skip our traditional Christmas celebration. No dinner at my folks house, no gift opening there, and no dice games. Instead, we are packing up all our presents, bringing hot chocolate in a thermos with some cookies and going up to the hospital to have Christmas there instead. 9 people in his tiny room. :scared1: There's nothing wrong with that, sounds like fun, how many people can fit in a hospital room?? When my parents were living we always had Christmas Eve, drinks & appetizers, to carry over to Christmas Day of everyone together, since they are gone, the day gets moved to whenever most can get together.

Went to visit my daddy.

How is your dad doing??

What a great picture Paige! Unfortunately, mine are all on the computer that went up in smoke a couple weeks ago. I'll have to see if I have any others.

Nope, I still have a Chili's gift card that I have to pick up.

Do they have those in your grocery store like they do here? Our grocery stores have every gift card you could imagine in them. Makes it great if you have to get more than one business' card (they have more than just restaurants - Home Depot, I-Tunes, etc.).

Sorry about posting a pic, y'all, but y'all know I love seeing pics every now and again, bless my heart.:rotfl:

Now get posting everyone! Especially to the new folks! On this last cruise, I didn't figure out who one cruiser was until the last night, and by that time I was too embarrassed to say hello.so sorry Janice:flower3:

I take it you haven't been using the Seagate, huh Nancy?

BTW, do you need me to swing by and upload the last back up?

Okay Paige. Here's a pic of us for anyone that don't know us. But in 2009 harrison will be coming along.

Yes, they have them in the grocery stores out in town. The commissary on base does not, though.:headache:

I'm working on a pic of the tie.....yes, it's Pooh

This is the middle son. I took him to his first NFL game ever ... Cowboys vs. Eagles ... Emmitt's last home game. He just turned 12 Friday!
