All you seasoned Eastern cruisers, I have a question. I see that most of the excursions are snorkeling and beach going. Is there anything else? Are the tours of St. Martin worth it? I am fine with going to the beach, I was just wondering.......

Hi there, Sistah Goose! I was just thinking about you.:)

Hey Sistah P! I don't think it makes me seasoned, but here's my two cents worth on St Martin.

We hung around the straw market for the morning and then went on the Explorer Cruise in the afternoon. It took us around the Dutch side via a nice air conditioned bus, then on a cruise to the French side for more shopping
and lunch. The cruise supplied Rum Punch, Juices and Soda which was included in the price. Chuck and I both enjoyed it but I do think there are better things to do.

Thanks, Nancy. The trip is along way off, but it makes me happy to think about it constuctively once every couple of days. It makes it feel closer than 22 months.....:cloud9:

I can't wait until the boat in my ticker gets to the water.

Have a good day, my friend.:santa:

Anyone willing to share their Favorite Holiday Tradition?

Mine is the day after Thanksgiving. Chuck and I both love getting up at the "Butt crack of stupid" to do our Christmas shopping. We get it all done in one day with the help of some great lists from the kids. A day of shopping also means we get to eat out all three meals. :thumbsup2

A second tradition which had to be skipped this year was making candy all day long with my Godchild's mom, Donna. We would make 13 different kinds of candy to give away as gifts. Years ago we would accompany this day with lots of wine. By the end of the day, some of the candy became questionable. :rotfl2: We would switch houses for the candy making day every year. If the candy making day was at my house, Donna was allowed to hide a bag of it somewhere in my house. It was fun finding it sometime in July.:lmao: It's become a little contest for us. The longest one bag of candy went missing was for 2 1/2 years!!:scared1: I was the hider that year and hid it under her bed. :rotfl2:

Please share some of your favorite traditions with the other BOBs.:santa:

Our holiday tradition, over the past several years, has been going to the movies on Thanksgiving Day and Christmas Day.

We haven't done this excursion, but we had a friend did and they said they enjoyed it, it was the See to Sea excursion in St. Maarten.

See & Sea Island Tour

Travel both surf and turf in spectacular St. Maarten on this excusion for the entire family! Get a glimpse of life under the sea in Grand Case as you enjoy an underwater view of the Caribbean aboard the Seaworld Explorer semi-submarine. Then head back to land for a 45-minute stop in the charming French town of Marigot for an afternoon of shopping, sightseeing and fun in the sun.

Port of Call: St. Maarten Activity Type: Sightseeing Activity Level: Mild Duration: 3.5 hours Price: Adult: $51 (ages 10 and up)
Child: $36 (ages 0-9)

Additional Information Please be aware that St. Maarten's beaches are similar to those found in European countries, where swimwear and other attire are optional. Nudity or topless bathing may be observed.
The semi-submarine journey is approximately 45 minutes.

Paige,

We did the "Under 2 Flags" tour. It gives you the highlights of both sides of the island.

We usually do a city/island tour the first time we go to a new place, then, when we get back, we focus on one area. This is really nice when we spend a week in one location. We will do the "tour" about the 2nd full day, and then going to a couple of spots one or two other days.

The only other thing we went to on St. Maarten was Orient Beach, but I was not impressed with it. I've heard people on the DIS talk about Dawn Beach, but I don't know anything about it.

Good morning all (or afternoon in the UK)!

Just a quick stop by to say hello. It's going to be a busy week, I think. I have a ton of stuff to get done before Christmas, and I'm out of weekends. Our first "Christmas" celebration is with Pete's Mom's family on Saturday! I still have shopping to do....sigh...I don't think I ever finish until a couple of days before Christmas, even though I start early! I just keep adding things...

Next year will be easier - I am planning to make matching t-shirts for everyone for the cruise! So, we'll need a design by then for sure!

Good Morning Jen and Lori

How are you both today?

Hi Carrie!

I just logged in for a second, so I'm glad you're here!

We're all fine....busy getting things done for Christmas. I have to send presents to my Dad and brother's family because they live in North Dakota, so I got those shipped this morning. That's always a job. Other than that I've got most of the shopping done, but I haven't wrapped anything else.

How are you doing?

We are all doing well. All of my shopping has been done for a while and I only have one more gift to wrap, still need to find a box for it. Scott still has shopping to do but other then that we are done.

It will be a busy week at work so I am sure I will be dead on my feet when I get home everyday. Kelsey has finales this week. She has never had them before so she is stressing out.

Hope you get all your shopping done.

Hello everyone:goodvibes

Got a quick 10 minutes before the munchkin comes out of school so I thought I'd just say hello!

"Hello!"

Traditions:scratchin

I always watch "Its a wonderful life" the week before christmas.

I usually send out invitations to my friends and we all sit and cry over the same movie every year. Its one of my most favourite movies of all times. The first year I wrapped up a teeny tiny bell at their place settings (I cook too!)
and told them to give out lots of angel wings:goodvibes :goodvibes

I havent had time to organise it this year and half my friends cant get the time off work, so I'll be watching it all alone this year:sad1:

Never mind, I'll just get my bell out and give out wings on my own:goodvibes

I'm grateful to Paige for asking about excursions. I enjoy the research for things like that, but its great to have recomendations.

All I know so far is that I want to see those planes whizz over my head - not even sure which place that is though:confused3 - I'll just get on that mini bus that Nancy was hiring:rotfl2:

It wont be long til our tickers reach that rum bottle:thumbsup2 - I think we should all celebrate then and have a wee glass of rum to toast the ships first "ticker destination".....I know....any excuse for a drink:rolleyes1

I'm all spent out now for christmas. The postie has bought all the things I've ordered now except one which is due tomorrow.

We've bought Ellis a punchbag and boxing gloves to practice his karate kicks and punches on (it'll save him punching us all the time:rolleyes: )

and also a golf game

and I've just made the BIG gift tag that will go on the snooker/pool etc table once Neil has built it on xmas eve.

I'm all ready now....how many more sleeps to wait til I get to play the Wii?:yay:

Have I turned into the thread killer?:sad2:

I dont need deodorant :confused3 - I showered this morning and then went to the gym and showered there too, so I dont pong:rolleyes1

Anyone coming out to play?:confused3

I forgot to say before - I thought I'd better warn you all......

Neil is lurking:rotfl2:

I've caught him out a few times........

Our pc is upstairs in one of the spare bedrooms.....

I've gone downstairs into the lounge a couple of times to find Neil on his lappy on the Dis on this thread:lmao:

Caught in the act, redhanded:rotfl:

Stop lurking Neil and post a "hello"

Good morning .... I think I'm going to need a 3rd cup of coffee today! I thin we're almost there with booking! Funny. I talked 2 other families in to going and they've already booked. Now, if I can just get them on here to post. One, my best friend Marti, was on the Oct. 20th with me ... wasn't hard getting her to book. :rotfl:
