Here's a Julia story.......

Julia turned 5 yesterday and we did the cake and present thing. So, this morning when I went to get her up to go to the babysitters, she woke up and said "I don't want to go to school today!!". She was convinced since she turned 5 she had to start school.
I thought that was just too cute since we haven't said anything about school.

Awwww. How cute is that. :rotfl2: :cutie: princess:

You mean the little one hasn't even started yet and she is saying she doesn't want to go. Wow! I had to re-read it I thought you had mistyped it.

Lori,
What exactly is a dosimetrist?

We'd all like to know that, too. All I know is that it is much better than being an 8th grade English teacher.

Hi, I'm Tanya, Lori's older sister. I call life before her the Glory Days!:cool1:

Anyway, My husband Philip and I will be celebrating our 18th wedding anniversary on Oct. 27. Philip is a small building supply manager. Our children are Claire (12 now) and Remington (7 now).

We are avid West Virginia Mountneer fans and are still recuperating from the recent catastrophic loss to Pitt. :sad1:

Also, I think I said earlier that it was going to be our 19th anniversary. It is a really good thing I teach English rather than Math.

Arielhead welcome to the group!

Thanks for the welcome. I'm still trying to get everyone's names right. I work in a middle school, too. 8th grade English. A cruise is a wonderful break from that kind of day-to-day.

We're a small, rural middle school but still full to the brim of hormones. It's a little dormant right now - winter but it will break loose in the spring as usual!

Right now it's just fussing with coaches over basketball and too excited about Christmas to do work of any quality.:upsidedow

I took the kids picture today for our Christmas Card. Here's what we got....

This is the one we used
yummy.jpg

The smiles were pretty good on this one and I really liked that it shows the heart in the center of the bench.

This one is probably one of my all-time favorite pictures of them.

Very nice Steve. I love the first one, and the last one too cute.

Thanks. That what we thought too. This is probably the happiest that I have been on a Christmas card in a long time.

karen, we have a great video of you guys when you boarded the ship and they announced your name. (we are finaly getting around to seeing all our videos)
also have some great clips from the dis meet by the mickey pool.:thumbsup2
sure do miss all our friends.:grouphug:
robin and i were saying last weekend at the mall that its weird., we feel like every time we turn around we feel like we should be running to all our dis friends.:confused3

I think they announced us as Manson instead of Mason, but I was on such a high they could have called me anything and i would have been happy:rotfl:

:rolleyes1 we also have some great video of afeg but i think we may have to blackmail that rich bugger to destroy them.(hey, we gotta pay for kk2 somehow, may as well be blackmail):cool1: :rolleyes1

Yeah...and while you're at it, find out what he does for a living - I still reckon he's a spy:lmao:

I was busy spending money all morning/early afternoon. I think I am just about done with my Christmas shopping though :cool1: As far as I can think of I just have 2 more gift certificates to pick up although I feel like I am forgetting something :confused3 . Now that our tree is up (half way decorated) I can start wrapping. I just can't bring myself to wrap any gifts until the tree is up and I can wrap in front of the tree.

Happy tree decorating and wrapping:goodvibes

Can't remember if I did this before or not, having a Senior Moment............:rotfl:

I'm Andy and my DW's name is Hazel, we have a DD 17, but she said she wants to stay home in October 2009, she'll be 19 by then, so we just might ler her, LOL!!!

I've been reading water meters, for the township we live in, for nearly 29 years. Hazel has been a stay at home mom for the past 6 years, before that she was a bill collector for 22 years. I've had 7, yes I said 7 knee surgeries over the past few years. I hope to be able to retire in the Spring or Summer of 2010. Hazel and I own a vacation home in Lake County, Florida and that's where we plan to live after I retire.

Hazel and I will be celebrating our 34th Wedding Anniverary on 10/24/09, the day we sail on the BOB TWIT cruise.............

This will be our 6th DCL cruise, 7th cruise overall...........:)

Our DD plans on going to Massage Therapy School after graduating from high school in 2008.

Thanks for the update Andy - wow! - 7 knee surgeries:headache: - and you still trek round reading meters - I bet you're counting the days til you retire

Lovely photos Steve. They look georgous.

Is Stuart still into his magic tricks?

Thanks to everyone for posting their "who am I" details:thumbsup2 - I just think if I was a newbie I'd like to know a bit more about us all.

I'm sure they'll all be sick of me by Oct 09 though:rolleyes1

Today its freezing here - I got Ellis to school and I was slipping everywhere on the ice. I had a really bad fall years ago on the ice and I'm like an old woman now - tiny baby steps and panic til I'm back home. When I fell I had only got to the end of our path at home - it was 7.30am and I was on my way to work. A man actually walked past me on the floor and didnt offer to help me up:sad2: - I couldnt move for about 5 minutes and then had to crawl back up the path and get to the phone and call my Mom. She only lived 5 houses away and she came straight away, but my back had already turned blackish blue within a few minutes. I HATE this weather - I should have been born in Australia or somewhere hot like Florida.

Steve--loved the pics of the kids, too cute!!! :goodvibes

Karen--we are expecting freezing rain and sleet here this morning as well, be careful out there. Oh, and yes, I am counting down the days. In fact, I have a countdown clock on my desktop with the number of days left until my 55th birthday, that is when I am eligible to retire.........:rotfl:

It's time to get my DD up, she will be going back to school this morning, as long as the weather holds up that is.........:rolleyes1

Lovely photos, Steve.:thumbsup2

Andy, I'm counting down the months until Rob retires--42! :thumbsup2 It sounds better when I say 3 1/2 years, I think.then he'll have to get another job....Sorry about the knee surgeries. I bet the worst part was the recovery, huh? Have the surgeries helped at all?

Karen, I'm with you on the ice thing. Virginia is great in that respect. We get a little snow, then it melts in a couple of days. We'll get freezing rain/sleet, but only for a day or so. We really get to experience all 4 seasons here. It's a beautiful state, especially in the Fall.:goodvibes

I'm off to do some Christmas shopping today after I take Alex to school. I hope I can finish, but I have a sneaking suspicion that I won't.:headache:

Y'all have a great day.:)

Steve, I had a hard time picking but I'm going with number 3 too. Hopefully that look on Leah's face will be duplicated 15 years from now. ;)

Have fun shopping Paige.

Karen, you were caught DISing again. Drop and give me 10 push-ups now!!:lmao: (I'm watching you woman...)

Andy, tread lightly young man, tread lightly.

Yes Paige, the surgeries have helped, but the knees have taken such a beating over the years, my surgeon said I will need total replacements on both knees, I'm just trying to hold off getting that done until after I retire. I did have a partial replacement on my left knee back in 2001, and that helped greatly!!! The last 2 surgeries(2004, 2005) have both been done on my right knee. Both surgeries, were work related, after slipping and falling on ice, while reading meters.

Hi!

I suppose it's my turn to introduce myself...

I'm Jen, and I will be sailing with a whole crew of people. DH Pete (who has posted twice as DISer Kazander) and DS Thomas who will be 6 when we cruise. My mom will also be cruising in a neighboring cabin, with a friend. We all cruised together Oct. 20th-27th 2007 on the Magic (KK1). Joining us for this cruise will be Pete's parents and Pete's sister, brother-in-law, and their two DS's who will be 4 and 6 when we sail.

I will be turning 35 a week before the cruise, but plan to celebrate on the boat!

Pete and I live in Wisconsin. I am an International Customer Service rep for a direct marketing company, and Pete is a PC Support Specialist for a manufacturing company. We also have 2 grey cats (hence my avatar) who will be left at home. DH is into computers and PC gaming. I am into scrapbooking and DISing :lmao: I'm also trying to be one of the KK "losers" but not having much success during the holiday season!

Did I forget anything?

Good morning all....

It's shaping up to be another busy day, but I wanted to pop in and say hi!

Karen - Isn't it amazing how fast you can go from wanting to sell your kid to the gypsies to wanting to spoil them?? :rotfl:

Steve - Love the pics! They're all darling!

Andy - Are you guys getting nasty weather there now? I heard the ice storm moved to the northeast...

Nancy - Hope you're feeling better...

Paige - I want to go shopping too!!!!

Ok, I know there was more I wanted to reply to, but that will have to do for now.

I work today, but leave early to go pick up my mom at the airport in Madison. She's coming home today from AZ (she's lucky, she has a place there too, and spends the winter there, but comes home for Christmas). Boy, she may wish she had stayed in AZ this year after seeing all our icy snow!

Have a good day everyone!

Jen, we've been having a mix of rain and sleet since about 7:30 this morning. I came home from work at 10:00am and have the heating pad strapped around my right knee, just having a horrible morning. I have a high pain tolerance, and even the 800mg of IB I took this morning isn't giving me much relief with this weather. Other than that, I feel great!!! :goodvibes :goodvibes :goodvibes

Hazel had to run a few errands, so I'm just going to relax and listen to some Christmas music, while I sip some hot chocolate............:cloud9:

Yup, that's the kind of weather we had a couple of days ago...then it all froze over the snow we already had. Ick. Do you get to take the rest of the day off? I hope so. Hope your knee feels better...enjoy your hot chocolate!

Yes, I'm home for the rest of the day!!! :thumbsup2

We are also expecting a Nor'easter to come through our area on Saturday night through Sunday. We are supposed to go to my niece's graduation on Sunday afternoon down near Atlantic City, but I told her if the storm hits like the weather forecasters predict, we will be staying home. It's about a 50 mile drive from our house to Atlantic City, so my niece completely understands. My niece has two young daughters, and has been going to college part-time to get her Teacher's Certificate. She spent the last three months, doing student teaching, in the high she graduated from.
