10/24/2009 Bash On the Boat (I'm with BOB) - Thread #8

So, still no answer if my flight will still be around for my outbound for the repo.

The airline is obviously in worse shape than originally thought. They are asking for major cuts from the pilots and are not only removing the MD-80 planes because they say they are inefficient (were going to only fly the new 717), but they are planning on grounding 5 of the 25 717's now.

I checked our flight to LAX. There are 98 people on board right now. The two flights out of Kansas City only have 67 seats open. Needless to say I'm watching this several times a day to jump on the flights as soon as they pull this non-stop.

I did call the airline and have DS's reservation linked to Suz and mine (we're flying on FF miles and DS is on his own record because he is using his own mils).

Too bad Cheryl isn't around to talk about this one. Midwest was one of the airlines we were looking at getting a group rate on for the BOB. Guess we'll have to look at AirTran.

I hope everything works out for you...I know I'd be nervous. Which reminds me - I haven't checked on my flight to AZ lately...but I think Orbitz will email me if anything changes - I've already gotten one "flight time change" email from them.

   Just found out as I was getting ready to leave work that our contract was signed today!!! We are getting a 4% raise this year and 3.5% raise next year. Our retroactive checks going back to January 1, 2008 will be handed out in the next week or two.

We were trying for another 3 year contract, but the Township Administrator would only give us a two year contract this time around. This is a new administrator that just started for the township last year. With our former administrator, we were always able to work out 3 year contracts. I'm not going to complain though, at least we have a contract for the next two years, meaning a better pension for when I retire!!! :goodvibes :goodvibes :goodvibes

Heck, I'm in such a good mood, I might even pay for Lina's lost retainers........................."NOT".............gotta teach "The Kid" a lesson...............:rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:

Just booked this cruise and would like to join in with the group. I've been reading and learning so much these past few months while deciding whether to take the leap. Since I decided to go for it and book a cruise s i x t e e n long months away, I thought it would be nice to start getting to know some of the people who will be on the ship with me. I will be alone on this cruise (unless of course something changes between now and then) and while I don't mind being alone it would be really nice to have someone I already know on the ship. I have never done any type of forum before so if I do or say something I shouldn't please let me know. I will continue to watch this forum with much interest.

Welcome!

I'm Jen, and I will be travelling with my DH Pete and DS who will be 6. We have been planning this cruise since our last cruise in October '07!

Please feel free to jump in and start chatting away! This is a very friendly group of people, and we have several meets in the planning stages for the cruise. Click on the orange logo in my siggie and you'll be able to see the website one of our members (Timon aka Cass) has set up for us, including info on our meets! You can also see the "cast of characters" on our first post.

We do get quite talkative and go through quite a few posts, but all pertinent info will be kept on the website and post#1.

Welcome to the cruise group and welcome to the DIS!! :yay: :yay:

We are a very chatty bunch but please don't let that put you off posting here. You can ask anything you want and someone will most likely have an answer or will be able to point you in the right direction.

My name is Brenda and I'll be cruising with my hubby Jason - we're DINKS who like to eat, drink, and travel ... preferably all at the same time! This will be our 3rd Disney cruise and we're celebrating our 10th wedding anniversary and my 40th birthday.

:welcome: :welcome:

:welcome: to the BOB Cruise!!!

I'm Andy, my DW Hazel and our DD Angelina(age 19 at sail date) are part of this crazy group. Hazel and I will be celebrating our 34th wedding anniversary the day we set sail. My DW and DD are not DIS forum people, so unless something really strange happens, you won't be seeing them post.

Congrats Andy- more vacation $$.

Hi guys,

Last day of vacation here. They left me alone for a little while. WE went to Muir Woods yesterday. It was beautiful. A little chilly but was very nice. The fires here are awful. My nephew is off near Mendicino fighting a fire and I won't tget to see him while I am here.

My sister is throwing me a birthday party, which I would rather not but I guess you only turn 50 once. I hope they don't bring gifts I sure don't need any thing and there is no room in my suitcase. The one I am allowed!!

Had in and out for lunch!!!! yummy, Got to get back on this diet next week.

Have a great evening.

Well, looks like I missed chatting with everyone, but I'll stop by and say good morning/afternoon anyway.... :goodvibes

Thomas had a blast at the pool yesterday, but came home with a sunburn. He's definitely cursed with his mother's fair skin :sad2:

Which brings me to a question....I think I've seen or heard of shirts that you can wear swimming that protect against the sun....can anyone help me out on what they're called so I can do some online shopping?

DS has another field trip today - to the Milwaukee Zoo....another fun day!

I need a vacation too...only 23 days until Door County trip!

I'm not sure of any particular shirt. But, I bought Megan and Sarah "board shorts" and "swim shirts" at Target before they went to Grandma's. (I'm not sure if they are actually wearing them or their regular swimming suits, though!) They didn't specifically say sun protection, but they are solid, so I assume they would.

Oh... and Matthew just generally wears a t-shirt when he swims!;)

Thanks, Beth. I made my requests yesterday. That's exactly what I requested, too. The CM told me that some of the buildings around HH are designated "preferred" (not the same as "preferred view" when pertaining to points)and all of those were booked up, but there are some that are not "preferred" (like bldg 62 and a couple of others which are just as close to HH) and I might get lucky with one of those. I really only request just in case there is something available in that area. If we don't get it, it's really no big deal; I don't have "little" kids, and we are just happy to be there.:)

That's how we were pre-kids! Now the kids are bigger, but Sarah still seems to tire out quickly if we have to walk too far from the bus!

Our last trip we were not near the HH. We had to take the bus to get there...quite a drag! I'm hoping we'll be able to get a Grand Villa near the HH for our trip in November.

Congrats Andy- more vacation $$.

How I wish. I also found out today that our Pension Contributions are being raised from 5% to 5.5% and it our utility company just increased their electric rates by 17% starting this month, not to mention the increase in food, gas and home heating oil, there goes all my raise for this year and part of next year as well.........:rolleyes1 :rolleyes1 :rolleyes1

I was trying not to think about the negative, that was until I started seeing the figures before my very eyes......

Welcome!

Don't get overwhelmed by the number of posts... this IS a chatty bunch. We booked this cruise on our last cruise (just before Memorial Day) and when my husband (Matthew aka EPCOT VA) logged on to "just check and see" if any thread was started... he found it... on thread #7... running since December! They have all been very kind at welcoming us. (FYI> many of them have sailed together previously!:) )

My husband and I will be sailing with our 2 daughters who will be celebrating their birthdays on the cruise!

Hmmm... I can see how Karan ends up talking to herself! I seem to be "catching up" and replying, but rarely on when others are!

Alas, I too have to exit. I have to get back to the chores my DH set for me! (We are trying to clean and clear the clutter from the whole house in less than 3 weeks... before DDs come back from Grandma's!)

Well, Scott left with Mackenzie for the night. :( So it is just Kelsey and I and since she really does not have much to do with me, I guess I will just do some chores.

I am so sore from work I don't know how much I will get done. I pulled patio furniture from 7 to noon today. All of it was going clearance. Only problem is most of it weighs more then me.
