We're renting a Prius for a day. Going to the LA zoo, and some other places on that Saturday vs the park.

As long as you're doing stop and go city driving you'll be fine in the Prius.

Not sure if you have the most recent Prius commercial on the radio out there, but I love the false advertising they do for it.

It is the one with the guy who says he just bought the 96 ounce soda and the dirver says they only stop for gas. He does the quick calculation and figures with Prius' 48 mpg, they will go 3 states before filling up. He later says he learned that you can't find underwear for sale along the interstate.

Sorry, that 48 mpg is city (as they state in the small print or fast talk at the end) not Interstate. Those things only get about 30 mpg on the freeway.

In reality, you are better off buying a Honda Civic with a regular engine. It will do in the upper-30's or low-40's for mpg and will run a lot longer than the Prius. The breakeven, when you take into the extra cost of the hybrid's purchase price is 170,000 miles. From what I've read, the hybrid engines won't make it that long.

How did you like it?

Loved it - I wish it was more than once a week! Ours was pretty much all latin rhythms, which was perfect for me. I love doing the salsa and cumbia, and it was a great workout.
