Take photocopies with you Karen, but you now have your photo on your Key to the World card. But I would still carry some photo ID with you at all times.

I agree with that. It was much more convenient on RCCL to have to present just our ship card to get on or off the ship.

Figure with that, we'll just take our Passport copies with us. Much rather leave the DL on ship since I'll need that to rent the car afterwards. Don't want to lose that.

In May they took your picture, they could see it when they scanned the card, but it wasn't on the card. They also had a computer set up as you go down to luggage and scanned you off the ship. I didn't remember them doing that before. That held us up for a while since most people had put away their cards and had to dig them back out.

Good to know to leave the keys handy. Now that I think about it, it is surprising they didn't "scan" you out before (or did they and I'm just drawing a blank).

I think other lines actually put your picture on the card, which would be good for two reasons, one, it could be as an ID to get on/off the ship, and two, no one could use your card to charge anything.

I don't know why they just don't put your picture on the KTTW card like other cruiselines do. That, along with the picture on the screen when you reboard would be enough.

Although, always best to have some type of ID on you when you're off the ship, especially if it is in a foriegn country.

I thought that was part of the embarkation process now. Joanne will know.

Hmmm, not sure I like carrying round my passports if I'm eg leaving my bag on the beach while I swim etc. Maybe I'll just take the photocopies of our passports with me.

I've heard of travellers doing that. And I think I read Rick Steves suggest that as well.

I think thay have stopped that. In May we didin't have to do the early morning trek to the theater. But we didin't go to ST Maarten then either.

yep, last I heard it was no longer necessessary.

One year ago today we were sailing the Panama Canal. It went quick, but at the same time feels like a long time ago.

I'm off today too and I didn't get to sleep in either. The alarm is on my side of the bed and Suz had to get up for work. So that meant I had to get up.

And then it got RAINY. That was still the coolest rain storm I've ever seen. Boy how I wish it was a year ago right now.

Although that was at the end of the day, so no big deal. Just cool how the rain developed in the rain forest.

Flights at 10.25am, so 1 1/2 hours up there, two hours for check in so 7am ish. If we're late, you'll tell 'em to hold the plane for us wont ya!

Olivia would love to go to school dressed like that, i like a uniform. It saves her standing at the wardrobe every day wondering what to wear.

Unless it's changed since May you got your KTTW card then went over and had your picture taken. It wasn't on the card but just in the system. It would be nice if it was then we couls leave everything inthe safe. They do have new safes though, just put in a code and not a mag strip.

On RCCL five years ago, the card was blank, but the crew member would swipe it a terminal and your picture would come up for them on a screen. It sounds like that is what DCL is implementing.

Do we need our passports (or photo ID) each time we leave the ship? - it says so in the DCL brochure, but I dont remember takig my passport each time

We carried around a copy of our passport and i'm sure we had to show it to get on and off the ship.
