Exactly...I am racking my brain for ideas. So you basically make 24 bags of stuff or 24 items to pass to everyone? I may ship it to the Port via UPS or Fedex.

I know what you guys are talking about. Nancy and I have had four bags.
one each carryon and two check peices for the past three years for a 4 day cruise and then usually a couple days at the World before and after . What to heck will we do this year with a day before then 7 day cruise a 2 days after at the World. With these restrictons with the Airlines I think we all might have a problem .
As it stands now Nancy and I are using Jet Blue and they arn't charging.

Dan

OK Well it's off to my doctors for him to tell me how my usual 3 month check of my blood sugar is and my cholesterol.
For the past two years my blood sugar has been normal. There was only once it was a little high and ever since it has been normal.
My cholesterol has been normal or below since 2002 when I started taking a statin.
Today i'm going to suggest that maybe we do this once a year when I get my physical.
Also have to go get my drivers license renewed
Everybody have a great day

Dan

Good luck on that today, Dan! I hope everything goes well. You have a packed day today.

We shipped our tag gifts when we went on the member cruise. We were staying at Boardwalk the night before, so it worked out really well. On the member cruise, DCL/DVC had a gift in our cabin for each person every night. Since we had flown down, we shipped those home - it was cheaper than the extra bag charge. It worked out really well too.

Going down we are flying Jet Blue, but returning home we are flying AirTran. In the past, I have checked everything. I HATE carrying stuff through the airport especially with kids. They are hard enough getting through security. I think we will just have to be more creative this year with packing. We will probably have 3 to 4 suitcases plus a garment bag, and toiletry bag.

All I typically carry on is my "travel" bag. Its a small brief case style bag that has all my travel documents, confirmations, PassPorter, etc. I guess I will have to plan otherwise this time around.

Sounds like us Chris we try to travel as light as possible.
Nancy said the same thing we will have to be creative this year.

Dan

Oh no we rapped $100 bills coz we thought they were lighter than the $50 ones......Maybe we'll just swap them for a Candy bar instead....(Y'all like my new all American accent Ladies?.....:rolleyes1

Talk to us, Daddy.....:rotfl:

Note to self: Work on the accent, as even the Americans don't understand my cajun accent.

At least now the kids can roll their own suitcases in and out of the airport! It used to be I had to be creative in manuvering them from the car to check in, and then back to the car!

The trick this cruise will be to give something that is still lightweight (because of flight weight restrictions)but satisfactory for gift giving.

And pull tabs from Boddington cans don't count AFEG. :rotfl2:

We're flying out Wednesday night and Suz is working that day, she could ship it that day and have it arrive on Thursday at our hotel.

50 dollar bills are very light Sistah. :rotfl:

If only they sold money trees at the Exchange (dept store on base).:rotfl:

I'll have to see how much Suz is planning on spending on the tag gifts this time.

Wouldn't it be fun if I just made up 20 (or however many people are playing) blank envelops and stuff different bills in there? Most would have $1, a few would have $5, a couple with $20 and one with $50. Then, I wouldn't know what I was giving and we'd have to see who the lucky people were that got them.

People who got my gift early in the week and only got the $1 would be searching out who I was giving to next and go steal their envelope and replace it with the one they got. :rotfl2:

We probably could fly with our stuff, but 24 or so bags of goodies sounds like a lot!

We are flying JB too - it's a non-stop from PWM like you so no airport changes. That's why we're waiting for JB to open up Nov dates so we can get a non-stop home too. Never bee4n able to do that before. Always had to do a layover somewhere. As for packing, every time I think about the amount of stuff needed for that length of time with evening outfits, etc. I think it will never go in what we usually take for luggage. I might end up mailing stuff ahead as well.

Just figured it out. If there are 25 people playing, it would cost me $115 to do a "bill" gift.

1 x $50
1 x $20
1 x $10
2 x $5
5 x $2
15 x $1

Maybe I should put the other kind of bills in there, like one of my drink bills and the person who gets that has to buy me one. You all wouldn't know I put that in all 25 envelopes, would you? :lmao:

That would definitely make the game interesting!

Probably not...that sounds more complicated. Maybe just have a collapsible bag to put them in coming home.

Going down our airline doesn't charge for first checked bag, but coming home we are flying a different airline that does charge for the first checked bag.

What have you'all done in the past with your goodies??

The last time we cruised, the airlines were not charging for baggage, at least not the first one and we had our three kids with us, so we had a high weight allowance. This time it'll just be me and Rob, so it's a little tricky.

Suz already said we're paying $15 each way for one checked bag. There is no way we can get around that. Not sure if we'll have 2 checked or not on the way home. Luckily we're flying Air Tran and they have large overhead bins, so you can get away with 3 - 21" carry-ons for the 3 of us, plus Suz' "large" handbag and my "briefcase/computer bag". I believe DS is allowed a "personal" bag as well.

The AirTran return flight is a non stop and has a great flight time. It was also cheap! ($84) I know that they are notorious for changing flight times, but it is much better than the Delta flights I could have got out of Bradley, Providence or Boston. They were all very early for very late flights. We didn't want to wake up early after being at MNSSHP until midnight or so, or stay another day in the parks. As much as I would like that, I don't think we can swing it financially this time around.

We leave on Sunday at 12:30 and arrive back at Portland around 3:30.

That's perfect - that's what we're hoping to get on Mon with JB. Wish they'd hurry up and open up Nov. Maybe we'll look at Air Tran for home - it's not quite so importnant if they change your time coming home, esp for us with no kids.
