So the three of us went to the mall last night and we took Kira on a carousel, similar to the one at MK with horses and she freaked out

So it seems we have a little bit of work ahead of us before we go to wdw :rolleyes1

We have a crappy little theme park here, which we are going to get season's passes for this summer so we can take her and get her used to going on rides :thumbsup2

We don't plan on doing a lot of rides at WDW but we would like to do some stuff ::yes:: ;)

My daughter was exactly the same way. We went to WDW and our first DCL trip a couple of weeks after she turned three. I spent a lot of hours in line to see characters as that is what she enjoyed the most while dh and ds-5 went on all the rides. I think it was goofy's rollar coaster that totally freaked her right out. She prefers the quiter rides for sure. She liked the truck ride at Callaway Park ... it is slow and more her style. BUT ... when we went to Disneyland in Nov. 2007 things changed. It started out the same but I told her if she would try the Matterhorn (spelling) that I would take her to do a build a bear right after. I know that bribery isn't a good thing but I couldn't stand going on one more slow ride again and again and again. She tried the Matterhorn, loved it and went on every ride after that. I think that you are wise hitting Callaway Park this summer to try and get her used to them. Good luck!!!

Jay has always been freaked out by the horses on Carousel's. When he does ride a Carousel, he always rides a bench. Just the other day, my sister was on the phone with him and asked if he was going to ride the carousel at MNSSHP, and his reply was, "i don't think so." This is the kid that is talking about riding all of the mountains, but won't ride a horse that goes up and down, round and round. :confused3

These are old pictures, but he still won't ride a horse...

At an Amusement park in Maine...on the bench as preferred.

Wow, your daughter was 3 huh? :scared: Kira will be a month shy of 3 when we go :rolleyes1

I'm hoping going to Calaway Park will help her out a lot because when we go to Gymboree, she is a KAMIKAZI!!! :lmao:

Oh and bribery is awesome! :thumbsup2 ;) :rotfl2:

Funny enough, Cinderella's Golden Carousel was her first ride ever at WDW

Here's a pic from my cell phone last night...

She was ok until about a minute into the ride. Rob said she didn't like the up and down part of it :scared:

If I remember right, all of the benches were taken on the WDW carousel, so we had to settle for a horse. Does Cinderella's Carousel even have benches?? I don't ride it enought or pay attention to it to know. :confused3

I gotta go get ready for a birthday party but I wanted to post one more pic before I go...

When I was at Old Navy last night, I bought Kira a pair of sunglasses. They had two kinds there and the first pair were HUGE! So I bought her the smaller ones thinking they would fit her better....

when I caught up to them, Rob had bought her a new jacket. It is coral and is very shiny. So when I put the glasses on her, I laughed my butt off. She looked all "blinged" out :lmao: :rotfl2: And the glasses were too big for her but she LOVED them.

Yes it does, Kira and Rob sat in one of them...I can post a pic for you later ;)

Gotta run ... I'm being paged by Tianna. :goodvibes I'm guessing that she has run out of glue.

Hey Chris ... we're also on the early dining rotation. Maybe we'll end up on the same dining rotation - it would be great for the kids and us to see some familiar faces. My dad is pretty interested in meeting you as his grandfather worked for the Salvation Army so he has a pretty strong interest in it still.

I am going to be linking with the other BOBers on Cass's website for the cruise. In fact, I was just going to email her to have her put me on the list. If we all do that, we will all see each other at dinner.

I am thinking the same thing about kids seeing familiar faces. Last cruise, our kids were not very social, but they were 6 & 4 at the time. DD is a social butterfly, but DS is a little more introverted. I am hoping they stay in the club and lab long enough for us to get some Quiet Cove Pool time and Palo brunch.

Thats cool about your family connection to the Army. A lot of people respect us as an organization but know very little about us. I find that out a lot as I make my rounds in the community. They are often shocked by how much we actually do.

Ok, I have to take Sammi to a soccer assessment. This is the first time she is doing organized sports since cheerleading a few years ago. Jay will be playing baseball here in a month or so.

Be back a little later. :wave2:

Hi! Wanted to introduce myself...DH and I will be sailing with y'all on the 24th! We always take a week without our kiddos. Don't worry...they get two cruises with us between now and then! It will be about our 20th DCL!!!

Saw Timon on another thread and she recommended a visit over here! Look forward to getting to know you.

Welcome, I am Leisha and I will be traveling with DH Tom, DD Megan and Future son in law Jose or he will be after the cruise. Just jump in when you can.

Uh oh, I think I have to rephrase that question. I meant "Disney" character. I was just being goofy and put down Kathy's name because I think she is quite the character. :lovestruc

You are right Kathy is wonderful. I always get excited when I see Mickey. The last cruise I found myself in a hall way alone with Mickey and his escort. I got so excited and got a hug. You would not think a 46 year old CPA would get so excited I guess it is just magic.
