Suz is the same, but Feb to Jan (that is when retail has their year-end, so it runs with it). We used 2 in last year and 3 in this year for the Mexico trip. The only down side is they don't let her off in Nov or Dec, except Xmas week which is too pricey to go anywhere.

I can carry 2 weeks forward. Use to be 4 weeks. Always liked having the extra days just in case.

At the moment we can carry 5 days over, but our terms and conditions of employment change next year, so who knows if we will be able to carry over vacation. I'm not taking any chances, so I'm using my time up now.

What does tenure mean and then I can answer.

Basically job security.

The definition from Word is:

the position of having a formal secure appointment until retirement, especially at an institution of higher learning after working there on a temporary or provisional basis

It is next to impossible to remove a teacher once they get tenure. I don't think anyone should be guaranteed a job like that.

I'm hoping it clears up for tomorrow. My parents are coming from Cochrane to cook for, clean up after & run my kids around while I'm gibbled

It's a little better today but still freaking cold!!! :cold: :cold:

Coffee sounds great. We've spent a lot of time at the childrens hospital in Calgary lately. Hoping the next time we go it will just be for a visit. We're coming later this month for an ultrasound for my daughter and eye appointments. Do you know if South Centre mall still has a Disney store in it?

Do you ever come to Invermere? Or are you one of the many Calgarians who own a "cottage" out here? I'm not complaining ... we build those cottages.

Yes, it's still there, the only one left in Calgary :sad2: I miss the old Chinook store :headache:

This was the Day that I proposed to Laura on Santa Catalina Island.

How sweet! And I loved your wedding photo, you guys look SOOOO in love :lovestruc

Yep! - what a difference a week makes! - he's like a different kid! - I think we've got to the bottom of it though - its his teacher. He's told me a few things in the last couple of days that I am NOT pleased with.

She seems to be singleing him out to make an example of:mad: .. a few kids -about 5 (Ellis included) were messing about a bit in the library on friday... he was the only one to be reprimanded. he was the only honest one who owned up so she punished just him and no-one else. So, what sort of message is that?:confused3 - be honest and you'll get punished, lie and you'll walk away scott free:mad:

Also, a school meeting had been rescheduled from last Nov to this March. We had to return a slip to say whether we would be attending. Ellis handed his in on Friday morning- he was the first to return the slip,...she called him over and in front of the class got him to read the date on the slip... of course, it said Nov 2008 as they had forgotten to amend the date part on the slip. She threw it in the bin and smirked at him telling him he was 5 months too late.

Sorry to hear that Karen. One bad teacher can really ruin school for a kid. It did for me in Grade 3 when my teacher started picking on me and sticking my head in the desk and sitting on it  (there was a little slot for pencils and stuff where my neck went but it was so embarassing and uncomfortable!) I hope you get this cleared up!!!

I don't think you want to know.

I know the rough numbers...it was over 1100 calories and something like 40 g of fat but I don't remember the specific numbers :sad1:

:grouphug: I feel your pain my CA neighbor.....but hey at least we have jobs right. Our unemployment rate in this county is 15%

OBTY people, I found out that I have a job for the next 2 years at least! YAY, I have to take 11.5 furlough or "budget cut" days as we are calling it at a 5% paycut, but I have a guaranteed job for the next 2 years!!!!

YAY!!! :cheer2: :cool1: :thumbsup2

Our teachers are all employed by the local councils (local government) that cover set areas of the UK. They have contracts for life and don't have to be renewed each year. They have to do something very wrong to face disciplinary or even termination of employment. There is a separate organisation called OFSTED which monitors all schools in the country.

I hope I have made myself clear?

Stanislaus Co is running about that too. It is nice to know that your job is safe. I think I'm okay too. But Healthcare is really under the gun right now. So who knows.

2011 will becoming soon enough (when that shoe will drop). That's when you'll see it. Hopefully the economy turns by then.

AMEN to that!

What does tenure mean and then I can answer.

Tenure is the practice of guaranteeing a job to one, once a certain time holding that job has passed. Usually seen in Academia.

Afternoon Cass. Or is it still morning? When do you turn your clocks up north there, hey?

I would. Going anywhere special?

No hanging around the house. Rick has Friday and the following Monday off. We might go and see his parents and also get some things done round the house. Very boring. Might get some packing done for the Russia trip.

How early are you coming in before? We're in Wednesday night.

AFEG is in like 8 days before us even.

Yes, Wednesday night for us too, staying at BWV. Isn't he doing a road trip again before hand?

And congress for some. :lmao:

j/k - our officials are elected every term, just seems like some never go away, but they should. Bring on term-limits.

We're *hoping* sooner than later. We had to lay off two employees on Friday, both good friends. If things don't improve, more will have to go ... including us:headache:

Looks like we are almost done this thread! Wow, I think that has to be the quickest ever so far, no? :confused3

He mentioned driving down to Key West.

You know what that means - we'll get rerouted now due to a hurricane and he'll be back there on the Sunday of the cruise. :rotfl2:

Rob took Kira to Airdrie this morning to visit his family so I get to scrapbook :cool1: I am working on our DCL 2007 cruise/wdw book right now...got quite a bit done last night :thumbsup2
