Thanks. As for her hair it was not by choice. I left her in the care of my parents for a Sunday and holiday Monday. When I got home from work around 5:00 on Monday she had just been dropped off. There was a substainail chunk of hair missing. It was the right side all the way back past the ear. Now my mother said she never saw it and of course my father does not notice those things. I talked to Mac about it and she said she did it Sunday night while Grandma was on the phone and grandpa was outside. Grandma gave her scissors to cut tags off of clothing. She decided to cut her own hair for a change of looks. So of course we had to find someplace open late on a holiday Monday to try to even it out. I was so paniced I have never had her hair cut more then a trim. She took it really well, but I on the other hand was But it does look really cut on her.

This just goes to show how far behind I am.. But, I was reading this (from pg 32) and had to add my 2 cents!

I can definitely relate! Sarah cut her own hair... twice! One of the times it was so close to her scalp that I'm surprised she didn't cut her skin. The salon did a great job cutting without having to buzz cut her... and she looked adorable.

Her other haircut experience had to do with her habit of sucking on her hair. I finally had enough and had it cut so she couldn't get the hair in her mouth. The cut came out fantastic! Everyone loved it.

Answering Jen Mouse's quiz:


1. Wrapping paper or gift bags? Mostly wrapping paper and an occasional gift bag or two.

2. Real tree or Artificial? Artificial: we have 2 pre-lit trees... one for Matt's office (which is the only front window) and one smaller one for the family room. The biggest advantage is the pre-lit part. If I still had to string lights, I'd go with real!

3. When do you put up the tree? Whenever we can! With our crazy schedules, it varies.

4. When do you take the tree down? My goal is after January 6 (end of Christmas season for church).

5. Do you like eggnog? Yes. Usually non-alcoholic.

6. Favorite gift received as a child? Sadly, I can't think of an answer to this! I always had good presents, but I can't separate one out. The best as an adult was a proposal and my engagement ring 20 years ago!

9. Do you have a nativity scene? Yes... with children for all the people.

10. Mail or email Christmas cards? Mail... when I actually manage to do it, which is rare.

11. Worst Christmas gift you ever received?I think it was called "Slime". It was in our Christmas stockings and I quickly gave it to my brother!

12. Favorite Christmas Movie? "A Muppet Christmas Carol" and "Polar Express"

13. When do you start shopping for Christmas? For the kids, around September or October. I have to decide what are birthday presents and what needs to be Christmas presents. For Matthew, usuall a couple of weeks before Christmas unless something has caught my eye sooner.

14. Have you ever recycled a Christmas present? No.

15. Favorite thing to eat at Christmas? Chocolate-covered peanut butter drops/balls... does anyone have a good recipe? My mother lost hers years ago and I really want to make them!

16. Lights on the tree? See above: Prelit trees!

17. Favorite Christmas song? 2: "Mary Did You Know"(favorite singer for this is Clay Aiken) and Amy Grant's "Breath of Heaven".

18. Travel at Christmas or stay home? Home

19. Can you name all of Santa's reindeer's? Yes, of course!

20. Angel on the tree top or a star? Star. We did have a Tinkerbell tree-topper for a couple of years, though.

21. Open presents on Christmas Eve or morning? Traditionally 1 each on Christmas eve, the rest on Christmas morning.

22. Most annoying thing about this time of the year? Okay, I have to copy Jen here: Christmas music that's not really Christmas music (think Mariah Carey singing "All I want for Christmas is you...)Although, my least favorite of them is "Last Christmas" (you know the one: last Christmas I gave you my heart, the very next day, you gave it away...)

23. Favorite Ornament theme or color? Disney... and snowmen. Actually we have a hodge-podge...that works.

24. Favorite for Christmas dinner? Growing up we had ham for all 3 major holiday meals. I still love it. Now I go for Honeybaked Hams, though!

25. What do you want for Christmas this year?WDCC Figurines work well! But, I don't have any particular thing in mind this year.

OK all this Titanic talk I have to share our family story.
My grandmother's(moms side) uncle was one of the men who helped build the Titanic in Belfast. Story is that all the people that helped build the ship could sail on the first (and last) sailing to America. My great great uncle got on the Titanic and sailed her to South Hampton and decided he didn't want to sail to America afterall and got off the ship. The rest is history

So, we went to see the Titanic Exhibit yesterday with the kids. A very humbling experience. Very sad and very interesting all in one. We all took on the name of an actual passenger onboard the Titanic. I was a 50 year old woman in first class. My Titanic son sneaked his girlfriend onboard and bought her a first class ticket. Turns out that the passenger Stacy picked was my son's girlfriend!! Weird!!! I won't tell any of the details of the tour because I believe other's may be going before it leaves the Milwaukee area, but of the six of us, 3 of us survived and 3 of us were lost.

last little jobs to do today and tomorrow and then wooooosh! - up up and away!!!!!!!!!on thursday morning. By the time you lot wake up on thursday we'll already be in the air and half way there

If you have any spare pixie dust please sprinkle a little over Ellis for the flight to keep him safe from the "nasty nuts"

Its always a worrying time for me... not much you can do mid flight over the atlantic if someone decides to eat nuts nearby and decides to kill your child in the process

Hey Kathy - I've seen the books but I haven't looked at them. There are also some children's books now with Marley. Now that you mention it, I wonder if they are just new covers or have anything new as well.

My parents wouldn't spend the money (yes, they had plenty of it too) and wouldn't allow my godparents to buy me one either. The rest of my relatives lived in Europe and didn't do gifts. So, favorite gift?....Candy from my godparents.

20. Angel on the tree top or a star? Star. But at work we have a needlepoint angel holding an empty beer can. It makes me laugh coming in and leaving. It's probably the only time I get to laugh at work. We have some serious stuff going on over there right now.

This is Mack - sorry for using Mimi's ID but hers is always on and I'd have to boot mine up - anyway - thanks Dan, I'm sure we will enjoy the food, but I really don't like the belly dancing thing. I kind of look at it like this, I wouldn't be comfortable with my wife or daughter doing that in public so I'm not comfortable with someone else's wife or daughter doing that either. I'll just enjoy the food and look in another direction.

Good morning everyone...

I was surprised to see the thread was still going on #15. I really expected to see #16 started. I guess the holidays are slowing everyone down as well.

I am really getting tired of the busyness of the season. I have kettles on the brain, and the daily routine is getting old very fast. However it should be over before I know it so that will be good.

Don't get me wrong. We are having a great year, but I am tired. Some year, we may have to do WDW after our busy season. How great would it be to hop on a plane after work on the 24th and fly to Florida! Are the crowds really that bad?????

from our experience, the crowds wernt too bad before xmas, but from christmas till new years it was pretty busy.
but we enjoyed the heck out of it. we'd go every year during christmas if our schedules permitted.
