Mmmm...salad sounds yummy!

I made the salad tonight, using lettuce, Jersey tomatoes, Jersey green peppers, celery, carrots and croutons, topped off with fat free Italian dressing. It was yummy Mel, if I do say so myself.....;)

Forgot ask you another question

Are you have the Balcony?

Scottishwee35

No balcony this trip. It was $2,100 more (for a Cat 7). Figure the BOB is costing us $2,500+, I'd rather have another cruise than a balcony for 15 nights. :thumbsup2

Yes, that why Ihave no money left :sad2:

Don't worry about balcony as the day for Panama Canal as there were so much fun on top deck 9 and 10. Remember hat and plenty drink ::yes::

After two locks we went up to cove cafe and adult swimming and it was less crowd then everybody went back to front to watch 3 locks. There were good activites there, band, bbq too.

15 days was great. We will never forget it.

Only to our disappointed that live web video camera and helicopter was cancelling well at Panama was switching off due to sub marnies as it was spoilt.

We brought our Scottish's flag to wave there too.

Now I will be up to watch your eastbound cruise ::yes::

Only thing I want to see the cruise leaving on first day but there are no live web camera there?

I'm trying to force myself to stay awake until at least 10pm without taking any naps this evening, but I'm not sure if I am going to make it. Hazel just took Lina to her friend's house, then Hazel is stopping by one of her sister's house to see the new niece that arrived last week. The house is so peaceful and quiet, I'm having trouble keeping my eyes opennnnnnnnnnnnnnnn, zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz

O.K. an actual cruise related topic.

With all that is going on with the airlines and Midwest dropping flights out of Milwaukee and possibly going under, I did some figuring on the cost of air from DCL.

If I figured this correctly, for the 3 of us, with air, a Cat 10 is $1,144.50 more than with out air. This will include the ground transportation. Not sure if I'd use it or not since we are coming in a day early and leaving a day later, so I would look to have this removed. Not sure if that can be done, but that is $207 for the 3 of us.

So, I'm down to $937.50 for the 3 of us to fly. If I divide by 3, it is only $312.50 per ticket. Given the way airfare is going to go and the limited service here from MKE, I was planning on $300 for airfare to begin with.

Given it is only $12 more, and DCL is booking it for us, would it be better to have them do it so they can deal with the headache of getting us to the BOB on time?

Need to think hard on this one. I'm sure we'll see the $200-$225 fares, but need to remember that the week of the BOB is a vacation week for 1/2 the state, so seats will be limited.

Jeff,
I was thinking the same. I was planning on saving some money by getting my own air but locking in an airfare with a guarantee (since I have disney travel insurance) is looking like a better deal all the time. The only problem for me is that I have a $250 airfare credit on my AMEX card that I wouldn't be able to use. (but then again I think that I could find other uses for it)

If you have the DCL insurance, and you do your air through them, it will cover your air travel then. :thumbsup2

I know you and I talked about this before and back when we did, air on your own looked like the way to go. Now, I'm not so sure. I'll have to wait and see what fares start looking like. Air Tran won't publish unitl at least 7 months out if not sooner, so if we pull the trigger on this, it may have to be around the first of the year.

As for your $250 airline credit, how about a quick flight to SNA on August 15th, returning the 17th? ::yes::

I don't know Jeff, from some of the stories I've read, I don't think I would book my airline travel through DCL. One story I read was a family had three flights and they were flying from the Northeast. If I remember correctly, they went from MA, to Ohio, to Chicago, then to Orlando. A simple 2.5 hour one way flight from MA to MCO, took this family over 8 hours, not my idea of travel fun. I think they got to the ship around 4pm on their sail date.

Maybe others here have used DCL to book their flights, but I'd prefer arriving at least the day before my cruise, and book the flights myself.

Oh, I wouldn't do it unless it was for arrival on Friday and departure on Sunday. But like you said, if there is a chance of being more than one connection, forget it. I'll put up with one layover, but not two. Too many things can go wrong.

So, what's everyone up to tonight? I'm still in the office. I figure about another hour here and then working from home when I get there. :sad2:

I have a report due to our national office TODAY. So I'm not leaving until it is done. Not something I want to work on from home. Plus, I've already been pulling stuff I need from the files in my office for the report - can't do that from home.

Jeff,
I'm starting to think that it's a good thing we have so many at sea days, you're going to need the rest as hard as you are working.
