10/23/11 - Disney Dream

Me too! I just assumed they would do Halloween things on our cruise. When I booked they said they typically did something on the Ocotber cruises. Seems like they told me the entire month of October. Of course, I can't find that e-mail now. And, apparently the other DCL ships are doing Halloween events on more than one sailing in October 2011! But, my e-mail from Disney says only the 30th sailing of the Dream will. Not sure why it is different on the Dream?

Hey We are very excited about all the new spots on the Dreams and would like to extend an offer here.. Just by Blind luck and the vicissitudes of living life. When we booked our room last year, It comes with a special Veranda..

Would like to make an open invitation to who ever wants to view this veranda.

We had done such things on other ships and the best time to do it is before the life boat drill and before the luggage is delivered and in general before the kids have sullied the room.. The room will still have the fresh unused room Smell..

So Drop by between 3:00 and 3:15 on embarking day 10/23 Sunday.. Check out the Veranda.. Mickey Bars can be delivered to all who wants.. We will buy.. OK OK maybe tip...

Now of course any one wanting to show theirs also that would be great and a fantastic plus. I am sure there will be some Disney cruise sycophants in the group to follow. But a great low key chance to meet everyone.. And a simple way of seeing another stateroom with out having to do the old walk by the open door while the cleaning folks are doing their part..

Hi. Is is too late to get in on the FE exchange? I just read about this and it sounds like lots of fun! Our family would love to join!

A little about us: We have 3 kids - DS(17), DD(15) and DS (6). This will be our 5th DCL cruise but we have not been on one since 2005. We've been to DisneyWorld more times than I could count.:thumbsup2

We booked this cruise about 18 months ago. I'm normally a big planner but I'm really behind this time and have spent the last few days trying to catch up!

Hi LoriV and welcome aboard. The FE cutoff date was Sept 1st. Maybe a new group can be started for those signing up after the 1st? :goodvibes

I have been working on FE gifts and found out they take up a WHOLE suitcase. I looked at those boxes at the PO that you can fill for a certain price and no way this stuff would ever fit in one of those. I would also be VERY nervous wondering if the stuff would get lost :scared1:
How is everyone transporting their FE gifts? :confused3

Hi Mike, I had heard about 5150 and 5650, but not 6150.

I'm willing to show our balcony at the same time, we have an aft 10664.

I have the same problem, we do not make the requirements for the box size to ship to DCL. My husband laughed and said we now need an extra suitcase. I checked with Air Tran and it is $20 for a suitcase so I am going to do that. Now I just have to go and weigh the thing to make sure I am not over weight. I would like to be able to pack that case full and not have to open it until we get into our cruise room since we are at the POP for a couple of days before the cruise.

One of my items is big...oh who cares, it is for the kids and I need to ask how to do it (and they dont read the forum)...We have sand buckets with shovels for the 8 and under crowd. Since this will never fit in a fish extender do you think I should plastic zip cord them to the actual fish on the wall? Everyone would need a sissor or something to get it off though...

Any ideas? I did not think this through! :confused3

I guess FE gifts is another reason to use Southwest if possible, they still allow two suitcases per person free. One suitcase for me on for the FE's going and coming. :)

We would love to use someone like SW with free bags but the closest in in Milwaukee which is over 1.5 hrs away. Well, the extra bag allows me to buy some extra goodies.:cool1:

Twins Fan-

Are you going to try and watch the Packer-Viking game after the muster drill? We are still trying to figure out what to do. The kids don't like watching the game at home so there is no way they are going to watch it with a ship full of stuff to do and a kids club that is not yet open.

Looks like Mommy is swimming while Daddy watches...it should be the other way around I was born and raised in GB, he is a transplant from the Boston area. Then again, you cannot live around here and not breathe green and gold. The kids are actually on early release from school on Thursday due to the opening season game.

Not having won a Superbowl in a long time, and being a small city, it is amazing to see what the NFL is doing to get ready for this game. They have actually closed a main street, taken down trees and stoplights. Oh well, all in fun I guess.

Hey if you do not mind come on down at 3:00 and at 3 :10 or so we can can come up .. Trust me my bride will insist on seeing that room... I showed some photos from the aft and from her reaction we may have trouble getting her to leave

Mine will fill 1/2 of a large suitcase easily. I use that space for the FE gifts I receive AND for souvenirs. Even with the FE gifts taking up so much room on the way there, I NEVER have extra room on the way home. Funny how that works. :goodvibes

You're right-- I probably wouldnt do a zip cord because of the scissors thing. Maybe just tie using a string, or that string/ribbon that is used for helium ballons.

I'm having the same problem. My gift is really nice (well, IMO) and I'm so afraid they are going to walk away. I'm trying to think of something myself and tying it to the FE is all I can think of. Grant it, it could still walk away but not as fast if someone has to put some work into un-tying it.
I think I am going to make a magnet/sign that says "Stop. The cameras are watching you." On our January cruise, we were right by the elevators and I would say half of our gifts were stolen AND we took everything out right away.

I will bring scissors with me, because I don't want these beautiful gifts to walk away! :)

This is the first time we are flying Southwest (we usually fly to Orlando on Frontier). So I plan on having a suitcase full of the FE bags. I don't want to have to worry about finding the time to stuff them there. But we are thinking the same thing, it's just a bag we can use on the way home for all of our souvineers!

Getting so excited! We got the Halloween costumes and the pirate costumes for our daughters this weekend! I am still holding out hope that they will have trick or treating on the ship and are just not saying anything right now. I guess it won't matter if they don't since we are still going to go to MNSSHP and then again at Downtown Disney on Halloween.

Yikes! That is one of my worries that someone's FE gifts will come up missing and then it looks like we didn't give that family anything :scared1:
I like your idea of the cameras are watching magnet :)

Maybe I missed something but was wondering what is so special about the verandah in 5650?

The rumor is that the size of the this veranda is extra wide and twice as long.. Honest I am not making this up.... and as an added bonus TwinsFan has generiously offered a view of an aft veranda room 10664 and because of Disney Magic that Veranda us super long

A great way to see more of the ship.. And you can get a Mickey bar to boot..

I've seen pictures of 5650 or 5150, it is the last balcony near a gap and the balcony extends toward the front of the ship.

Mike, that sounds like a good plan, I'll show up at your room at 3:00 and check it out then we can go up to my room and check out the aft balcony.

WhitGB, I wonder if they will have the football game on the big screen at the pool? This is my first Disney cruise, so I don't know if they ever show sports on the big screen, I've seen football games on the big screens on Carnival and Princess ships. Since I started watching Nascar I don't watch much football, they usually conflict. A check of the schedule says I'll be missing a race in Talladega on embarkation day.
