10/23/11 - Disney Dream

Hi !!

I was wondering what fellow sailing buddies think about arrival to the port. My family is staying at the poly and we are tossed about whether to take the bus or opt for our own transportation. We don't want to miss time on the boat and are concerned about the late bus pickup.

While DCL transfers from WDW make everything really easy like luggage pick up etc., it does make you later to port. The last time we did DCL transfers, we felt pretty rushed once we got there & had to go right to eat lunch & it was pushing 2:30 or 3. If you want to maximize time on the ship, I would consider a town car or renting a car to drop off at port possibly.

This is true and depends on how you want to spend your time. We have always taken the WDW transfer as it is basically stress free but you don't get a lot of first day time on the boat. Tho, we typically have gotten on before we are allowed into our rooms. For longer cruises, this have never been a problem as we will have plenty of boat time. But I can understand the want for more boat time on the shorter cruises (hence the reason we are doing a B2B this time). :goodvibes

Yeah, I was pretty bummed at how late we got to the ship when we used the transfers. Made it much earlier with a transportation service but I was still behind the pack. This time it'll be taxi and I'll plan on leaving when I want to leave.

Steve, when you took transportation service you didn't get to pick the time of departure? Taxi is out for us because we would need a car seat for our daughter.

You do. But, you have to remember that the transportation service wants to make money coming and going. So there's an earliest time that they will pick you up. That way they'll have a fare coming from the Port area that they'll drop off, then they'll clean up a bit and the go to pick you up. It makes getting there uber-early impossible.

Car Seats do present a problem. My daughter still uses a booster, although I believe that she is outside of the limits where she is required to use one.

We are planning on leaving our 2 carseats with Budget since we are renting with them before and after the cruise.

2 months from today we will be sailing away!!!!!

Hey, are we going to plan a meet of some sort?

Hard to believe we are finally down to two months. My kids (any myself) are beyond excited!!

Any ideas on what our fish extender numbers are up to? I believe there is 1 week left, correct?

One of my items is "summer" related, and if I need to get a few more I need to get to the store before they clear that aisle out :0)

Here is to hoping Castaway Cay is still standing after this week! And everyone is safe (of course).

Just a question does anyone have a room on the very aft. (Aft is Navy talk for the back of the boat.. ..:)

Mike

happy 2 months!

I just hope everyone is okay on this weeks cruise and that CC survives the storm!

Cloudnut-

Congrats on your running times, I just noticed them. I am running my first 1/2 marathon on 9/18 and if I survive I am signed up for the 1/2 in January at Disney.

Cannot wait to meet everyone one the ship.

Thanks! I have a half on 9/18 too, and I'm running the half at WDW. I did it last year too--it's so much fun! You'll have to run the CC 5k!

Philly is my 9/18 half! First of a three part series this fall (if Irene doesn't get in the way this weekend).

Great! :thumbsup2 What are your plans? Are you traveling in for the race or staying in Philly a bit? DH and are are both running. We'll be in town for Sat. and Sun. night. I told him that at some point after the race, I want a cheesesteak! (my reward for 13.1 miles:woohoo:)
