10/23/11 - Disney Dream

Great! :thumbsup2 What are your plans? Are you traveling in for the race or staying in Philly a bit? DH and are are both running. We'll be in town for Sat. and Sun. night. I told him that at some point after the race, I want a cheesesteak! (my reward for 13.1 miles:woohoo:)

I live in Baltimore (only 90 minutes away), so we'll be traveling in Saturday morning and just staying Saturday night, then returning Sunday afternoon. And you deserve cheesecake after 13.1!

Also, I'm guessing my pacing for the race will be somewhere between 2.10 and 2.20. I'm pacing two first time half marathoners, so we'll be going at their speed :goodvibes

We are up to 30 cabins.

REMINDER
Cut off date we agreed on is September 1st for the FE exchange. If you want to be included in the FE, please see one of my previous posts for info on how to sign up. :goodvibes

Okay, I'm still waffling on FE since I don't know how much is actually involved. Are we doing an exchange everyday? Once per cruise? One gift per cabin? Or is it up to the person?

It's really up to you. From my experience, which is only 2 cruises, 99.9% of people do not exchange gifts every day. That would be too much as it would take too much time out of your vacation. Every one usually just picks a random day to go deliver your gifts. It usually takes me about an hour. So if you have an hour every day to deliver FE gifts, go for it, its up to you. But like I said, most people do 1 per cruise.

As far as the gift goes, everyone does it differently. Some give 1 gift per cabin and some give per person. It truly is up to you. On this cruise, I am sailing with all adults so my gift I am giving out is for the adults. (Sorry kids!) But when I cruise with the kids, they help with the gifts and give out kids gifts. That's what makes it fun-- each time is different.

Hope this helps.

Hi Beth, we did this last year on the Wonder and had a great time. My DH and DD even got into it. I had some gifts which I considered per cabin and some for individuals. We delivered the first three days and handled it per floor. It was fun to find new goodies in our FE's every day. I did bags for everyone last time. This time it will be one goodie bag with something for everyone in the cabin. I'm going to send all this to the port ahead of time so I don't have to worry about lugging it all around. Basically, it's all up to you. Happy planning.:goodvibes

Hi there! I would love to join in on the fe. I tried to send a message. I hope i did it right. I don't think I've ever sent a message on here before. Still learning the ropes. I cannot believe how fast time is flying leading up to this cruise! I better get busy preparing!

Hi there,

I had 25 magnets made up for our cruise....however I didn't realize that it was the wrong cruise. We are actually on the 10/27-30 cruise not the 23-27. Needless to say I have these magnets available for any of who would like to use them on your cruise??? Good FE gift. Please let me know if interested, like I said I have 25.

Quick question on shipping things to the port. I would love to send our fish extender gifts to the port ahead of time instead of taking them in the luggage.

Can someone tell me how this works...well, more like when do I have to send them from WI to get there on time, do I send USPS or Fed X?

Why all the quetions you ask...On our first trip to Disney I sent the girls princess gown, mr potato heads, glow sticks (you get the idea...all the fun stuff) and it never made it to the POFQ. No idea what happen but I sent it about 10 days in advance and the hotel never received it. On the same note, I never got my Costco water (completely different shipper) either. My mom and I laughed that some one was in shipping wearing dresses and drinking a case of water.

I would hate for my girls to be really excited to hand out the FE gifts and not have them arrive. (And I don't want to shortchange someone)

So, if you have done this, please give me an idea how to proceed.

TIA

PS - The box eventually was shipped back to us from Disney about 1 month later. Which was great!

Hi, We are on the 27th cruise, so hopefully we will have one of those excellent magnets. Always fun to decorate the door. :goodvibes

Can I ask which deck (more Navy lingo :rotfl:) ) .. Reason i am asking is looking at this part of the ship on the Fantasy next year..

(I just had to pull up my reservation to see what cabin we're in!) We're on Deck 5. My travel agent picked the cabin because she said the verandah is extra large.

Hi there, I found this info on the DCL facts sticky. We are shipping to the port for the first time via USPS. Kind of nervous but going by this. It's dated '09 but other posts claim there is no change. Your post office or other mailing choice can tell you how long you need to ship ahead so it arrives in plenty of time. You might want to add a delivery confirmation which you can easily track online. Sorry to hear about your last experience. Hope this helps.:goodvibes

Boxes Sent the Ship Ahead of Cruise - PLEASE follow these instructions carefully!!!!!! UPDATED AS OF 2/25/2009
• ONE box per stateroom, no exceptions.
• The package must have the guest full name, ship, sailing date, stateroom number or GTY if you have not been assigned a stateroom number.
• The package also must have a packing slip attached to the outside of the box that details the contents of the package. For prescriptions, a copy of the prescription is sufficient. Your list may or may not be read but it must have one. Write packing slip on the outside of the envelope.
• NO FOODS/DRINKS OF ANY KIND, LIQUOR OF ANY KIND, FIREARMS, ETC.. Items that cannot be shipped to the Disney Cruise Line Warehouse and delivered to the ship include: food products (any and all food products including baby food/formula), beverages (liquor, water, etc.), chemicals, and luggage. These items will not be accepted at the warehouse and will be returned. This may cause the dogs to hit on your box and that would be a bad thing.
• The required size of the cartons you are shipping down have to be about the size of a record storage box 12 inches on a side and should not weigh more than 20 lbs. (This has been asked personally by Dave Adams who is the owner)

Address your package(s) to:
Disney Cruise Line Warehouse
Guest Name / Stateroom # (GTY, if you don't know what it is when you send the package)
8633 Transport Drive
Orlando, FL 32832
Phone: 407-566-8196

In the bottom left corner of the top of the package put the following information: ATTN: HOUSEKEEPING
*Name
*Sail Date
*Ship
*Stateroom Number
*Packing slip that details contents of the package (for prescriptions, a copy of the prescription is sufficient)
• Packages must arrive by Friday by 3:00pm for the 7-Night Cruise on the Disney Magic (Saturday).
• Packages must arrive by Friday by 3:00pm for the 4-Night Cruise on the Disney Wonder (Sunday).
• Packages must arrive by Wednesday by 3:00pm for the 3-Night Cruise on the Disney Wonder (Thursday).

If your box is hit on by the screening dog or chosen for additional screening they will open the list and the box and look through it. They will close it back up and provided nothing bad is in it then it will be in your room as usual later after boarding. These boxes will be coming on the ship with the crew mail among other things so they may be in the staterooms later then they were before as they are low priority in the scheme of things for Disney.

Amanda

Deck 5 has a lot of larger Verandahs and on the back of the ship also

Sounds like a lot of fun new places on the Dreams and Fantasy

According to rumor, our room is also a very deep and wide Verandah.. :woohoo:

We have an aft on deck 10. I have found a few pictures of our balcony and it's really deep, I can't wait!

Hey everyone ....new to this thread but no stranger to DCL :) Just PM'd our info for the FE today so hopefully we make the cut! My name is Sarah and I'll be sailing with my parents Steve and MaryJane and we are from RI. This will be our first time sailing on the Dream! She is a beautiful ship we sailed by her as we repositioned the Wonder to LA this past Jan, so we are pretty excited to explore! Definetly a new experience for us though, as we are used to sailing for longer periods...4 days will fly by! Hope everyone is having a great summer, were in the middle of Irene up here right now, but we will get thru it and then onto cruise planning! Looking forward to meeting everyone soon
