10/23/11 - Disney Dream

Airfare has gotten crazy lately. I'm looking at better than $600 pp. to go to Hawaii from the west coast!!!!! That's insane! My feeling on airfare is determine a price that you're okay with spending then when you find it, buy. Then stop looking because you'll drive yourself crazy. For me, if I can find CA to FL for less than $340 pp then I'll be Okay with booking. If I can find it for less than $300 I'm flippin' estatic!

we've flown out to orlando from Los Angeles three times in the last 18 months and I'm worried that I got spoiled! I refuse to pay anything over $265, with fees...We paid $255, $222, and $186 the last time! All were WITH taxes and fees too. I will admit the last flight was a huge fluke- it was the day the continental-united merger was announced and prices just dropped, and only for 24 hours. I hopped on that fare like lightning.

Hopefully these prices go down, I'm willing to wait it out since we still have a couple months before we even start seeing sales.

Hello,

Well it is a well known in maritime lore that hoosiers make the best cruisers

take care

Mike

Looks like Indy will be well represented... we're on the southeast side.

Looking for a little pixie dust for Butler tonight... Go Dawgs!!!

Agreed as British as he is I can't see Chris at tea! I will have to file that little meet up plan away in my mind! :thumbsup2

Could you see him with a tea cup and saucer? I bet he has his pinky out. :rotfl2:

As for "meeting up", remember it's more like just running into people at the adult pool bar at the end of the afternoon, not an official "meet" in anyway. You don't want to get accused of planning a meet and not inviting people or having a meet when a separte meet was going on (been there, done that, or should I say been accused of that).

I 110% agree about the clubs and all for the kids... But the best things are for the parents.. A lot of time for great adult relaxation and alone time

Mike

Mike,

It does allow for the adults to have great times of their own. DCL is great in that respect. You get both a family vacation as well as a couples vacation, all in one. :thumbsup2

I see AirTran has a sale out today that is good for travel through November 2. Maybe you can get a good deal on that.

Fortunately, I already booked as the fares for the dates when we want to travel have not gone down. Those dates fill up real quick here in WI with all the kids out of school at that time.

Now if we were to sneak in a WDW trip around Labor Day, maybe that would work. :scratchin

My Bride Graduated from Butler, So needless to say things have been tense here these last few days....

To be Very Honest here The 1st Disney Cruise we booked was with the kids in Mind, Every Cruise after that was with My Bride and I in mind. If the Kids are fed and entertained, Then My Bride is happy, And if she is Fed and happy.. Then I am happy..

Oh dear, do not want to cause any drama............we did alot of not planned meeting up on our cruise too. I think it's just that like minded people end up in the same place at the same time.:thumbsup2

So I bit the bullet and booked air a couple weeks ago, paid more than I wanted to, but we got good times and nonstops. Then last week I did see lower air, but we would have had to make a stop each way and fly at inconvenient times. So I guess I'm glad with what we have.

My original plans were to fly a few days early and first stay at Vero Beach, then we scrapped Vero Beach and were going to visit friends. But we ended up scrapping a few days early and now we are just going to fly in Saturday. We have reserved a room at the Radisson near the port, we stayed there last year and liked it.

We booked our air a few weeks ago through South West. I thought we got a great deal...that was until I heard about their planes "situation.":scared1: Did I mention that I am terrified of flying and have avoided it since '95? Anyway, we're flying in 5 days early and spending that time at Disney with a side visit to Seaworld. Last year we stayed at the Radisson before our first cruise and really loved it there. Got to see and hear the Magic pulling out of port.:cool1: Loved the park and cruise option. Their shuttle was great. Counting down.:goodvibes

On the upside, after the safety inspections all of those planes have undergone, they are probably safer than any other ones out there!!!!

Ok its been a bad day on land here so I think of cruising..

And I guess this goes out to those Veteran Cruisers but heck any one can play..

But when you Think of cruising what is your best place or Your happy place to be on the ship...

For My bride and I it is up on Deck 10 early in the morning.. No one else is out there, you Own the ship, The wind is blowing and only Gods Ocean as far as you can see..

Mike

Looks like your happy place was the same as my DH and mine and something like this?

Nothing beats the top decks at sunrise. I'm usually up to see it rise, but DW and DS always sleep in. It is so peaceful up there in the morning with no noise.

Just being on the ship is my happy place.........but I really like sitting in the chairs on Deck 4 with a book.

That is my DH and I, too :). We loved sitting on Deck 4 and just watching the ocean go by. We have always had an inside stateroom, so that is our closest thing to a verandah:laughing:.
