10/23/11 - Disney Dream

Hi Everyone! I've been busy reading posts, trying to catch up on everything. Our schedule is hectic right now so I've been out of touch! I am just now getting together our FE gifts, figuring out Pirate Night, etc... Yikes! I am feeling a bit stressed but it will make the time on the ship even better - I need the break!

So let me get this straight:
Saturday, 10/22 meet at FishLips around 4:00pm for drinks (yeah!!!) and watching the Magic cruise by? We are going to try to make that - sounds like fun. AWESOME!!!
Sunday, 3pm to see someone's cabin? Sorry, I'm in a hurry and can't remember who or where. But if there are Mickey Bars, we'll be there! :yay:

and 3:30 at the D Lounge to meet more fellow DIS'ers, right? YEP!!!
We are going to try for all of them. We'll see how organized I am by then. Right now I am totally unorganized!

So now I am thinking the Fantasy in a year or so???? ME TOO!!!!Another thing I need to research!

We are so excited and ready (sort of) to get onboard the Dream! :yay::yay::yay:

As soon as I get time, I will try posting a picture of the 5 of us.

See above in red....

It will be easy to spot us! I love to sew, and I've been sewing us all sorts of matching cruise wear! Here are a couple. I think I've made us something for every day of our vacation, sometimes 2 things a day! My pirate night sets are still in the works! I even made the boys something special to wear when they ride the Aquaduck!

Very cute! Now you are going to make outfits for the rest of us?
I like Cinderella (hint hint)
I am envious. I wish I could sew. :confused3

Just saw this from Disney- looks like some of those sailing on this trip will be getting a refund...

"Stateroom Re-categorization on Disney Dream, Disney Fantasy
Based on Guest feedback, Disney Cruise Line has decided to call attention to several staterooms that have unique features onboard the Disney Dream and Disney Fantasy. Effective Oct. 18, a total of 120 staterooms will be re-categorized into five new categories.

4E - Deluxe Family Oceanview Stateroom with Verandah - Oversized Verandah
5E - Deluxe Oceanview Stateroom with Verandah - Oversized Verandah, some with solid white wall
7A - Deluxe Oceanview Stateroom with Navigator Verandah, Undersized or Obstructed Verandah
9C - Deluxe Oceanview Stateroom, One Porthole, Obstructed View
9D - Deluxe Oceanview Stateroom, One Porthole, Obstructed View - limited view of ocean
.
.
.

So...If your reservation includes one of the affected rooms on this sailing and it was re-classified to a higher category- you will not be charged anything additional; if it was re-classified to a lower category- you should receive a refund shortly.

Hmmm, we are in 5538 on the 27th/30th (B2B)... It was already listed as 5E so what will it be now.... A refund that pays for Remy's would be nice.... :)

5538 is now a category 4E (higher category) room due to the oversized verandah. So, unfortunately you won't be issued a refund. However beginning Oct 18th, Disney will increase the rate for that room. They are treating these situations as free upgrades, so your rate will not be affected for this cruise.

What are peoples thoughts on this? I'm just curious to know, as a new travel agent myself.

Darn.. But I'm glad we got the cabin when we did... But now I have to double check the Cat 4s that I want to book, cause I would be surprised if those cabins get upgraded with the Round bath like the rest of the Cat 4s.

I haven't been checking in much because we still aren't 100% sure we'll be cruising. Our 7 year old spent 2 weeks in the hospital. He's doing really well right now but we'll wait and make a game-time decision about the cruise. It's looking good for us to go but I don't want to get my hopes up and then have to cancel at the last minute.
Sadly, we don't have trip insurance for this cruise so if we have to cancel, we'll be out of luck. :sad1:

Good morning

oNE MORE THURSDAY:woohoo::woohoo:

We are in 10664 wonder if it's going up or down? and we booked with our DVC points wonder how they would work that??

I think our room is being upgraded also. It is currently a 6A, so I think it is being upgraded to a 5E.

Amanda,
I was just wondering about you as I remembered your earlier post. Glad to hear your son is doing better & hoping you will get to cruise. pixiedust:
We didn't buy trip insurance either, so when I was told Monday that I was going to be in a boot & on crutches for 3 weeks I knew that we would probably be cruising that way. I called but no dice to move it forward to give my foot time to heal. Makes one rethink trip insurance for sure.

Just want to share some pluses for trip insurance... And I say this with heavy heart because I do not want Amamda to look at this as "telling her what to do better" crap. Or telling anyone what to do... Just sharing to all

But we were airborne to the cruise back at 9/11/01 :scared1: needless to say we did not make the cruise.. But we had Disney Insurance and when we called them to tell them we were not making the cruise.. They asked if we had Trip insurance and they right there made date changes for our curse to a few months later... They would not have done that with out the insurance...

Also from what I have read on some other pages.. Trip insurance will also cover some transportation costs for an emergency trip home... (the main reason we get the insurance)

Also my father in law (God bless his heart) Has hurt himself on a the boat a few times.. And has gotten big time bandaged on the ship with no charge...

Again I say this for any future cruisers.. Just wanting to add

I'm so glad to know this & am wishing that I would have taken advantage of this for this cruise. :headache: I think I will be doing this from now on because from your experience it looks like if we had trip insurance, I would have been able to push our cruises forward a bit in order to let my foot heal & be able to enjoy the cruise at 100%. Lesson learned!

Best wishes for a speedy recovery for your youngster.

Got to thinking about Fishlips being multi-storied & was wondering how I would get to the upper level to watch the Magic sail away. I contacted them & they have an elevator. :cool1: Woo hoo so I can make it to the pre-cruise meet in my gimpy state. :teeth:
