I wish :-) ha! We are going to be at WDW too on the 18th.. though I'm still trying to decide if the mnsshp is going to be worth it :-) we love Halloween and dressing up and everything but I dunno.. we are trying to be thrifty and there's always Dland next year..

Sent from my ADR6300 using DISBoards

We could do it on the 25 or 26, and I know my kids would want to, but I think theyre too young. It would wipe them out for the remainder if the trip!

Welcome aboard. I will add you to the Roll Call. I assume you are leaving Max at home.

Let me know if you are interested in participating in the Fish Extender Exchange.

The Family Zone is on the left side toward the front of the ship. You need to access it through the 18+ area on Deck 12 that sits above the adult pool on Decl 11. You should see a directional sign that says "Family Zone" on the stairway leading up from Deck 12. Putt Putt is in the Goofy Sports Zone which is to the rear of the ship on Deck 12.

Thanks! It would be so great to be able to bring Max. But, he'll enjoy time with Mom, Dad, and their greyhound while we're away.
Is there a meet at the Family Zone? I haven't read through too much of the thread.

We'd planned to take 2012 off from Disney, but its been a busy year at work, and I convinced DW that we needed a little Florida time. Different being the OP on a 10/2013 Fantasy thread (and watching everyone come aboard from the start), and jumping on here last minute. Wonder when we'll know where our VGT stateroom is located.

Thanks Christopher for directions...WOW I must have completely missed that whole area....is the 18+ area the outdoor lounge area above the adult pool? I remember seeing pictures of it and thinking it looked really nice..but we never made it there last time...hence the reason why I dont know the family zone area. And YES I totally relized that the goofy sports zone is at the BACK of the boat...brain fart on my part...LOL...SO what is in the family zone btw?

The Family Zone is adjacent to the Private Concierge deck. There are no ammenities or activities to speak of but it provides a quieter area for families to gather away from the hustle and bustle of the pool to lounge in the sun (hopefully).

And do not worry about the brain farts......we all get them. :rotfl2:

Can't wait to get all of my kids back in school so I can start planning and shopping!

We've got IG, OG, and VG on our cruise now. Ouch! But, I really wanted the aft cabins I chose, and I really wanted connecting, too, so I didn't want to risk the wait. Would've saved about $500 for each Veranda cabin, though!

GOTCHA! Thanks....yes never made it up that way...I also didn't know they had a concierge deck...I know other cruiselines offer a seperate pool and deck for concierge...I thought Disney didn't offer either. So that's good to know for the future. Do you know what other perks you get being in concierge? I know they have a lounge and food...but that seems silly to me as ALL food is free on a cruise...unlike if you stay at a club level at a hotel you get free drinks and food...and that makes sense because they do not offer that to non club level guest....so just curious to see what the $$$ get you....lol

i'm sure you can get concierge for this cruise - ask them when you check in at port canaveral..
concierge is still half empty....they offer port upgrades to concierge for a much cheaper rate..

the concierge sundeck, isn't a seperate deck - it's a small gated area in the middle of the forward section of deck 13..
you access it from inside the concierge lounge (on deck 12)..
the concierge deck area has lounge chairs, a kind of mist thing and that's about it...plus there's free sunscreen to use..

the concierge lounge has continental breakfast in the morning and little snack foods all day, plus bottled water and soft drinks....plus a special coffee machine with really good coffee....
and there are two happy hours - the hour before each dinner seating, when you can get free drinks and smoothies for non-drinkers...

there is a concierge staff that will help you with whatever you need helping with...they can sometimes get reservations for you for things that supposedly don't have openings (like palos/remy)...
and they take care of whatever you would normally do with guest services...
also, you get your pictures there, not in shutters...
also there is a special character meet and greet for concierge (i think only once on the 4 night cruise - though the characters have been known to show up in concierge unannounced)..

and all the concierge rooms are together on deck 12 and deck 11...

we'll be in concierge...i'm hoping it will be a bit quieter there than on the rest of the ship, but it's not guaranteed....

Thanks for the detailed description! The upgrade i'm hoping for his for cat 8A it's a very interesting layout.

See link below... I've never seen this kind of floorplan in a standard cabin on any cruise...

scroll to the bottom of the list...It's 8A category oceanview cabin

that's a great looking room! i couldn't get to it through your link, but i googled the category and came up with a blog that had lots of pictures of it..

well if you don't get that room, you can ask if there's any concierge left when you get to the port...
the upgrades are much cheaper at the port...

i would ask about the 1 bedroom - maybe it'll be reasonably priced...
there are lot of 1 bedrooms still left....and they cost a fortune if you reserve them now...at the port it's a fraction of the price.
and the one bedroom is great....
it has two full bathrooms - one with a big shower and the other with a big shower and HUGE tub (with a tv in the bathroom for really weird people)...

it's a very nice space......plus you get the concierge services....

since concierge is so empty on our cruise, i'm sure they'll offer them at a major bargain rate...

:tiptoe: We're plotting our upgrade at the port plans, too.

What time do they put out breakfast snacks at the CL? We're early risers, and have found that the Magic/Wonder had food available earlier than the Dream. We loved Goofy's Galley on the Magic.

i believe the lounge is open from 7 am to 10 pm

and i think that breakfast (continental) is from 7 to 10:30 every morning but debarkation day when it ends earlier than that..

i'll see if i can find the information page they give out..

i'm glad to see all the one bedroom bump outs have finally gone...
as of last week, two were still available..

there are now something like 11 one bedrooms still left on our cruise (only 7 have been booked so far, including mine)

category V has about 12 cabins still available, including one of the deck 12 bump outs (only 8 cabins have been booked so far)...

to be honest, i find it really annoying that DCL offers conciege for port upgrade....i don't understand the concept of filling concierge at the port...it's not as if they're making room for more passengers....whoever's on the ship is on the ship....they're just shifting people around.....
and by doing that, they're making it more unpleasant for those passengers who paid a king's ransom to be there...
i won't make the same mistake again- i'll go with a different cruiseline that offers concierge at a much cheaper price to begin with...

Interesting points. I'm guessing that they're trying to hook cruisers into booking their next cruise in a higher category once they've "sampled" it at a reduced rate. It is tempting...

Tell me why you don't like the bump outs - if I read your post correctly.

for those of you who may have smartphones i was on my phone last night and looking at apps to download since i couldnt sleep. theres a really cool app called ship mates. Disney cruise. it has all the ships and the dates with itinararies on them. as well as details about the ship and where things are and how to get to them. its pretty cool. i recommend it.

Oh cool glad you were able to find more pics...I never thought of googling it myself to see more pics...as the DCL page only showed one picture.

BUT I'm with you on trying to get a 1 bedroom at a deal...those rooms are GORGEOUS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

fingers crossed

Are you talking about early breakfast options on the ship? You can always have continental breakfast delivered to your room...I think they start pretty early
