We just got back from our 3 night land/ 4 night sea cruise on the Wonder. We added 3 days on to the land package so when Sunday, Oct 20, our sail date came, we were ready to relax!
My DH and I had never been on a cruise before, nor had I been that close to any cruiseliner before and I was in pure awe. That feeling stayed as I rushed thru the beautiful terminal (not even pausing to really enjoy the beauty of that) It stayed as I stared in pure amazement at the main lobby of the ship and it also stayed as I was running up the steps to deck 6 where our stateroom was! I felt like a little kid running up Mainstreet at DL.
Our stateroom was beautiful and much larger than I expected (room 6580). I was so happy we had booked a room w/ a verandah. We spent more time than I would have expected in there relaxing and just, well, we were on our HM!
We joined the sail off party. In port were a Carnival and RC ship, and I must say, that the Wonder just showed them up. Period. There beauty of the ship was amazing. We enjoyed Hercules the Muse-ical and our dinner at Tritons that night. (Once again, I was just so amazed by it all....the WD theater, the beauty of everything!) We sat at a table with all honeymooners, 5 couples in all, plus a few other tables of the HM'ers! Our waitstaff sang "Happy Honeymoon" to us all and also Happy BDay to my DH! (I had forgotten that I had mentioned to the reservation agent that we were sailing around his birthday.) We then just went up to deck 10 and enjoyed the rest of the evening! Thank goodness for the scop patch. Without it, I would have not have felt so good!
Monday was Nassau. We were scheduled for the BL beach day, but we had cancelled a few days earlier so we could really just explore the ship and truely relax. I got a manicure and even did the 8:00 areobics class...she worked us hard! We did venture off the boat for about 1/2 an hour, and that was plenty. We enjoyed both an amazing show and meal at Animator's Palate. It nearly made me cry!
Tuesday we did the Dolphin Encounter at 9:15 in Freeport. I though it was wonderful, although it did take more than the 3 1/2 hours it was described as, but we enjoyed it completely. I think I had a bit of a heads up from some other postings around here in which some were less than happy with the excursion. I think some of the problem came from when people were done, they just wanted to leave. I enjoyed watching everyone else get in the water and also all the tricks the dolphins did and all the education we got on dolphins as a whole. We were back to the ship by 2:00 for the wine tasting, which was also amazing! We went to "Who Wants to Be a Mouseketeer" that night at witnessed a 9 year old girl win a 7 day cruise! She knocked us out with her Disney knowledge! Dinner was at Palo, and needless to say, we loved it. I could have eaten the Chocolate Souflee (sp) all night long!
Wednesday. Ah. The famous Castaway Cay. I now understand all the raves. We got our snorkle equipment early and hit the snorkle area. It was pretty cool, although I am not a huge fan of underwater creatures. I fear them a bit!
But I still hung out with my DH like a rock star until the cramp hit my foot! OUCH! We then high tailed it to Serenity Bay, got our blue floats and just enjoyed! My DH continued his snorkle adventure, seeing a stingray, many not so pretty snail like things and some cool starfish. I just floated on my mat! We grabbed a quick bite at the Cookies BBQ at the beach and then at 2:00 were our Cabana massages! Just then it started to rain! What great timing! We never got to get the bikes that came with the packages....our massage therapists were 20 minutes late for our appt. My only complaint...well besides the price, but hey, where else will I get a massage w/ my DH on a beautiful Caribbean island with rain hitting softly against the roof, simply being pampered? (Our next cruise, thats when!) That was the high price item on our stateroom bill at around $300 total, but nice indeed. The rain had stopped when our massages ended, and we enjoyed a few moments on a nearly empty island! By the way, has anyone else ever seen the cat with a half an ear wandering the island? Perhaps the mascot of the Cay live on staff?
Well, as Thursday came I was less than happy. I didn't want to leave. Disembarkation was a breeze. We jumped on our bus to MCO and we were there at around 10:15...too bad our flight wasn't until 6:05!! Since no one was going to be at the Frontier Air desk until 3:00, we got a day room at the Hyatt and took a nap and got a workout in and planned for our next cruise. A 7 day one for sure.
Thank you to all for your advice and postings! They all helped!
If any one wants to know, our Head Server was Wira, Server was Rajat and Asst. Server was Ardy. Stateroom host was Bagus. They were all wonderful!
