10/18/23 MK crowds insight

I’m team #HangBack The crush of humanity out of the park is ridiculous and quite aggressive at MK (agree with PP F! exiting is better).

It also boggles my mind half The Emporium isn’t shoplifted out post fireworks because the stores are just as slammed as outside.

Yeah retail crime is at an all time high these days...

But if your at Disney World you likly aren't desperate or part of some organized gang (popcorn buckets would be their target). And Disney is working on much higher margins than a typical retailer, so easier to absorb some theft.

But the whole idea they had about offering free shopping bags.... would also help anyone willing to get banned from Disney property if caught committing a crime.

Last trip We got great pictures with the lighting and castle by just waiting, don’t remember any problems walking out or bussing after that.

I know what people mean though, our very first visit 25 years ago we had no clue and were offsite. Just terrible from trying to get to TTC, to the roadways leaving.

Definitely wait it out. Take pictures, browse in shops, whatever. I’ve heard someone say this is when they go meet Mickey, but I have no idea if this is possible at this time.

I was there over Columbus Day week this year. One of the non-party nights (we always hang out by Gastons tavern for fireworks since it’s usually empty), about 15 minutes prior to the show there was a park wide announcement that Main Street and the hub were completely full and closed off to any more people. I’ve never experienced that and I go on Christmas and New Years every year.
Yes, that was announced Wednesday, the 25th, when we were there. It’s happening every non-party night I think. It’s a horrible experience and I feel for those people who want to watch the fireworks “in person”!

This is why we never leave right after any show. Find a spot where the crowd won’t sweep you up then hang back for 10-15 minutes as the rush exits and then you get a much calmer walk to the exit. My city has a big fireworks festival every summer which as a quarter million people gathering on the beach. Same rule applies there.
