Bette - Sending lots of well wishes your way!

Well, we were THIS close to finally making it to Canada. Started planning a Toronto train trip, but have now changed itineraries to - Chicago! Chris HAS to see the Blue Man Group. So, does anyone in our DIS family have any suggestions for a romantic :lovestruc , nice place to stay for a 3 day de-stressing mini vacation? We have never been, but hear it is a great city to visit.

Hope everyone's cold bugs go away soon! Knock on wood, we're both still healthy, usually Chris spends all winter sick! Take care and warm :sunny: wishes to all, Denise

Bette -- Thinking of you now and will be thinking of you next week when you have surgery. I'm sure all will go well and if you have laparoscopic surgery, you should have a pretty comfortable and speedy recovery. I had my gall bladder removed last April and it was a breeze. In and out of the hospital in 5 or 6 hours. I remember all the patients who had gb surgery the old way -- they were in for a week with all kinds of tubes connected. Sure glad mine waited to act up.

Denise and Chris -- when are you going to Chicago? That is our old hometown, but we haven't been back in years so I don't know anywhere nice to stay anymore. Lots to see and do, especially if you are anywhere near Michigan Avenue and the lake. If you're going soon, be prepared for lots of cold wind -- it's not called the Windy City for nothing.

Denise - I can't believe, considering where you live that you'd rather go to Chicago than Toronto. You at least have to go into Windsor to Tunnel BBQ for ribs one of these days. It's right near the Tunnel if I remember correctly. :cool1:

Sorry Goofynut - didn't realize. :confused3

Dear Bette,
Hugs and prayers to you for a successful surgery and a speedy recovery!

Bette you are in our thoughts and prayers for a speedy surgery and recovery.  Mike and Kathy

I have been told Tunnel BBQ is awesome. I haven't had a chance to taste it yet, but it smells wonderful when I check a car that is bringing some back! I think we will save our Toronto trip for this spring, when we can actually get out of doors and not freeze to death! :cold: I am told that Toronto is a beautiful city. I AM thinking of going to Windsor, to the outlet mall with a girlfriend of mine - to shop for our mini-vacation of course!

I do expect cold and wind in Chicago (Mar 5-7) but as long as it is not near Detroit, that will be perfect. 2005 has been the worst year of my entire work career and it is not even 2 months thru yet! :badpc: Not the job itself, but the politics in this area are CRAZY! Getting my paperwork ready, time to make a move, up I hope!

Well, must tend to Chris,he came home early with a :headache: ,says he has had one every day this week. I think it's time for the chiropractor. I need my back worked on too! Goodnight all, Denise

Jim is quite content to stay value.

The only problem about staying in a 'value' (or any other for that matter) is that I'm not allowed to have the remote control channel changer. Which means I'm supposed to watch all of these mushy programs that I wouldn't be caught dead watching any other time. I generally wind up in the can reading my book. Until she goes to sleep. Then the channel changer is all mine.

Bette: we can compare scars next time we see each other.

Jim.

Jim I think that I am the King in the scar department :rotfl: Hope that the surgery goes well for Bette. Jim the women know that men have clicker control in our DNA. We can look at a program in less than 1/2 a second and tell whether or not it is worth watching. :rolleyes1

Temps were in the 60's earlier this week, tonight in the 20's and Saturday back to the 60's. No wonder everyone is getting sick. Mike

Okay I have to admit in our house I am the one with the remote control problem. I am always scanning the channels - Andy gets so mad he will just get up and walk out without saying a word - oh well...

Arlene

PS -TGIF!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

men have clicker control in our DNA.

For sure.

What a lot of people don't realize is that clicker control is actually a highly developed skill that few people are able to acquire. Not only do you have to remember the channel number that you were originally watching in the first place, but you have to determine in split seconds whether or not the new channel entertainment (most preferably something non-fluffy like WWF wrestling, a hockey game, a hockey game with a fight, a hockey game that actually means something, scantily clad people and so forth) requires an additional four or five seconds attention before moving on to something maybe more interesting. And you have to do all of this within the time constraints of a commercial for Tide.

Only the truly skilled can click an entire channel cycle and still have time for a whiz in 60 seconds. And they can get a beer on the way back to the couch.

Jim.

I'm the speed-zapper in our house as well. We have less, but longer commercials in Germany, about every 30 minutes for 5 minutes. Fortunately our large Sony-TV has that PiP-feature (Picture-in-Picture), which lets you keep your main program in one of the corners in a small picture and you can zap channels in the large one. But usually we tape all movies with commercials or record them on the computer to delete the commercials and then we watch them commercial free.

Pete,
does Boston have a zoo?

Ahhhh, but those with TRUE clicker control know that the clicker also has a back or last button that does not require the remembering of the last channel viewed and can swiftly return to such channel with just the touch of the button. :earboy2:

Only women need such a cheat button :teeth:

Mike, I am giving up pork. Not every Catholic has to. :rotfl:
Allen, If you guys get down to Seaside please give us a chance to show you a little of the PCB area.
Had to go to a teacher confrence with Casey's teacher today. :teacher: I would rather have a root canal. But it went pretty well. He may just make it into second grade.

I have the WHOLE Weekend Off! :cool1: We are taking the kids to my brother-in-laws house in Thomasville, Ga. tonight. Then Sat. morning we are all going to Wild Adventure in Valdosta Ga. for the day. Back to his house Sat. night. Then heading home Sunday afternoon. Looking forward to it!

Bette, (and Kim) We will be thinking about you. I'm sure everything will be fine. Please call if you need anything. :)

Got to finish packing! See ya!

Actually, you do realize, the "last channel viewed" while you're surfing is only the previous channel. So if you're on channel 163, and start surfing thru channel 175, the "previous" button will take you to channel 174. So, yes, you do need to have a memory...

In my house, we have a "guide" channel. We don't do "clicker control."

We have the guide channel too, but I tend to not surf and just go to the channels I like to watch....Discovery, TLC, FoodTV, etc. If nothing is there, then I'll surf the movie channels or come play on the computer.
Speaking of TLC..for those that watched The Perfect Proposal..Did you vote!? I did! We'll find out Monday at 130 who won the prize!
