Viking, Where do you find the time to fit it all? I struggle to put much in the way of steps. I feel like I have accomplished a lot if I can manage 60-70 miles/month. At your rate you must be way cruising. I can't go that fast.
Lily,
DW and I head to the gym first thing after work every day except for Saturday. We usually run at speeds of 6-7.5mph when we do constant running. When I do intervals I even go up to 11mph, but only for short periods of 3 minutes, and for the last kilometer I sometimes do a final dash of 12mph. Usually we run for an hour, but when there are Formula One races we sometimes go to the gym and watch them on the treadmill running for 90 to 130minutes depending on the length of the race - an average F1 race gets us about 10-12 miles.
As we start work very early (Like 6 - 630am) we usually arrive at the gym well before 4pm and after two hours working out we still arrive at home as early as 615pm, which even leaves some time for a movie or a good book. Our routine consists of running, weights, aerobics, and badminton. In the summer we additionally do inline-skating and dragonboat-racing.

Welcome to Laura and family! Just jump right in! this is a great bunch! We too, just booked the cruise blindly in December. I was surprised to find a long thread on it when there was still over a year and a half to go! Keep in mind that for those of us that have never done Cruisetoberfest before, there was talk of an initiation of Naked Kareoke once on board! I better get into better shape before that! :earsgirl:

I cant beleive I rebooked onboard for this cruise... wow... cool.... wow... It was to be a phantom booking we were going to change to a 2007 date, but with the rates as high as they are for, it looks like we will stick with this one...

Im Laura.... DH, 2 DDs 7 and 5 at time of cruising and a boy kicker who will be 3.

We have one 3 day DCL cruise under our belts... the 9/29/05 cruise that had the bomb scare. Had a great time and rebooked this puppy while on board. Just checked the rates and this has gone up about 900 for our two rooms since we booked (taking into consideration the discount) I think people who waited for 2007 rates are jumping on the 2006 ones... LOL

Anyway we are on deck 6 cabins 6100 and 6102. And really looking forward to the slower pace of a 7 day cruise!!!

So here I am jumping in.... A Cruisetoberfest newbie... do we get something speicial???

Welcome but I won't be able to stick around to meet you or the rest of this clan. We, too, rebooked on board, and had an eye toward pushing the ressie into '07, and while we could not get our spring break preferred week for less than a third mortgage on the house, we did get 3/3/07 for 3494 in a cat. 8, plus the 200 stateroom credit. So while I did initially react with shock and awe, it really wasn't all that much flexibility required to find a rate that compare pretty favorably with 3387 for a cat. 8 for the three of us (DW, and DS, 9 now, 11 when we sail) the first week of april 2005 (the same week in '07, actually the 3/31 embarkation, would be 5466).

Thanks to all the Octoberfestians, foreign and domestic, for the welcome and open sharing of community, and have a great cruise, and I do hope the recent hurricane trends call it quits after this year so that y'all can enjoy a wonderful western carib. double dip.

Amy,
we're sorry to see you leaving, but we wish you a joyful cruise :wave2:

I changed my cruise. We decided to do a birthday cruise instead. I hope everyone has a wonderful cruise and I'll see ya around! :grouphug:

Just got back from my trip to WDW & BCV with my friend. Weather was great altho it got a little too hot & humid at the end of the week. We were lucky to avoid the rain predicted in WDW from Wilma. Unfortunately, my friend tripped at the end of the moving sidewalk at the airport in Charlotte on the way to WDW. She went flat down -- face and everything else hit the ground. I thought she would be seriously injured, but she managed to carry on, a little more slowly than usual. Finally agreed to let me push her in a wheelchair which was great exercise for me. Got a house wheelchair from Beach Club which saved us a lot of money on renting one at the parks. Saw my mom today. She looks pretty good and appears to be comfortable, but she still does not know who I am. Hospice is taking charge of her care and they are doing a great job.

Eric -- Congratulations on your promotion. Glad that the presentation went well and hope for good results.

Jeanne -- I am jealous that you visited my hometown (Chicago) -- we haven't gone back to the Windy City for a long time. Most of the family and friends have moved to warmer locations. We finally have a team in the World Series. I am a Cubs fan forever (even if we never win anything) and never had much interest in what the Sox did, but it is good to see a Chicago team in the Series and I sure hope they win!

Kim -- Sorry about the extra time in the cast, but at least you didn't have to undergo surgery. Hope the weather cooperates and keeps you and Bette safe and dry.

Nancy -- Hope your epidural does the trick -- pixie dust to you!! You must be quite an accomplished speaker to be doing two presentations. What are the subjects?

Welcome Laura and family!

Folks,
List #25 is in your mailboxes - check it out :wave2:

Welcome Laura and family!!!

Glad to hear you had a good time Jeanne. It was a little too hot and humid the entire time we were at WDW but can't complain since we were eating the free food at the same time.

It's been raining here since forever it feels like but really since yesterday morning -- saw the forcast and it might be raining here til Wednesday -- yuck but as Jim says at least we are shovelling it! Just getting ready to go to my DB and DSIL's for dinner to celebrate my DM's birthday (which is actually tomorrow). Jim and my mother share a birthday so Jim and I will go out for dinner tomorrow night to celebrate his birthday.

Can't remember if I mentioned it or not but my DSIL is pregnant again and due in June. This will be number 4. Not really a surprise since their pattern is 23 months apart and June 2006 would be the next one. When this baby is born they will have 4 children age 5 and under. Jim just wants to know what the name is. :)

Hope everyone's having a great weekend.

Fiona

HAPPY BIRTHDAY JIM!!!!!

Eric, thanks for the update!!

Nancy, how was the presentations? Did your back hold up?

Make it a great day everyone!

Just stopped in to say HI to my friends ......

Hope the "Twins" in FL are safe and relatively dry.

Kim ... Bummer, at least you are staying away from surgery. Hope you can heal quickly and don't have to worry about crutches, etc before the show flies.

Nancy ... Hope your back gets better soon. Not realizing it, I ended up with bursitis in my hip cause I seem to have changed my gait with the back pain.

My SIL is on a Celebrity cruise right now and if she is on schedule, she's in St Martin today ... if there is anything left of it! Then she goes on to St John and Puerto Rico.

Well check back again ... Take care

Nancy: how did your conference go? I hope your back is feeling better now that the stress is reduced. We got unbelieveably lost in PA on Saturday trying to find King of Prussia Mall. We passed through some REALLY pretty towns though!

Mary, Ave and anybody else in FL: I hope you guys are all safe and dry.

Well, I'm home now and not going anywhere soon. Time to start getting the house ready for the holidays. I think we're going to be 14 or 15 for Thanksgiving dinner!

Alles Gute zum Geburtstag, lieber Jim :cheer2:  :wave2:
(All the best for your birthday, dear Jim)

I guess the Twins kept dry feet, but Amy (Alikat99) and Jenn & Jeff (TigfanJeff) were affected by Wilma :guilty:

Hi Cathy,
good to hear from you :wave2:

What Eric said, Jim. Happy birthday and all the best to you and Fiona along with family. Kim hang in there girl.

Nancy, best of luck with the back.

Don't forget, Passport will be needed for all cruises soon. Mike

HAPPY BIRTHDAY JIM!!! :Pinkbounc :cheer2: :cheer2: :bounce: I've been looking for a new tie for you, but I can't find one that I think you would like. The chili peppers on black was stunning, if I do say so myself.

Jim, I don't know you yet, but I do hope that you are enjoyint your birthday.
Happy birthday to you...

Michelle, I have the Kingdom Keepers on order at our library.

Mike, thanks for the heads up on the passport thing. I was just talking about it with DS that soon it will be the case with the trips accross our north border too.
