Hope all those in NY are having a great time as I know you will, and also hope that you don't get TOO much rain. We got a lot of rain Wednesday night and yesterday and we are supposed to get a lot more tonight.

My mom fell Wednesday night and fractured her femur (split it actually) right next to her total hip replacement hardware. So I spent Wednesday night and much of early morning yesterday (until 5 a.m.) in the ER with her. She had surgery to repair it last night. The repair was complicated because the bone was split right next to the hardware. The doctor put a plate in plus coils around the upper part of the bone and stem of the hardware to hold that part of the fracture in place. 2-1/2 hours of surgery last night. Quite a lot of stress for an 89 year old! She was still pretty much asleep all of today altho they did get her up in the chair to help ward off complications such as pneumonia, etc. Hopefully she will recover without too many problems. Good thing I am not leaving for WDW this weekend, and I hope that we will be able to make our flight next weekend.

PixieDust to you dear Mum, JeannieC ~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~
As Anja is in that business (They're doing hips on her ward) she exactly knows what a strain this must be for a lady of 89.

I guess the four of us won't be posting for the remainder of the weekend, so everybody have a great weekend and a great Columbus Day :wave2:

And here a warning for the New Yorkers: We expect fair weather and will hold you responsible if we get wet :teeth:

Here's hoping all the NY visitors have a great time. Wish we could be there with you! :umbrella: No matter what the weather. :cool1:

Job #1 update, Medical Assistant quit. Her last day was today. Too much stress! :earseek: New clinic is great, but so much busier than it used to be. Doc is not planning on replacing her, so more stuff for me to do. Meantime boss at job #2 is offering me 7-3 Tues-Sat. What to do????

House Update: A/C unit installed today. Ceilings are done. Stucco is done. What's left to do? Carpet, paint, cabinets, light fixtures, interior doors, and trim work. Hope to be in before Thanksgiving!

Just think, pretty soon we can say "less than a year till we cruise!" :goodvibes

Night All,
Avé

Great news on the house Ave. Ave maybe you guys could borrow the single wheel transport (wheelbarrow)from Carlos and Charlies to have drag races while you are in Cozumel. :rotfl2:

Hope that you have smooth seas and calm weather for your cruise. Mike

Ave' - Wow, that will be great if you get in your beautiful new house before Thanksgiving. As for the job situation, it must be a difficult decision to make. Let us know what happens. And I was also thinking that we would soon be able to say that it is less than a year until we cruise!!! :cheer2:

Jeannie, Prayers for your mom!!

Ave, I can't keep your jobs straight, so good luck making the decision. I will say however, that 7:00 is early to start, but wouldn't it be nice to be finished at 3:00? Especially with winter hours coming!

Jennifer

Jeanniec- Best wishes for your mom. Is she at Presby? Glad that rain is finally leaving us. (too much at once...my lawn is so confused :confused3 ) :umbrella:
Ave-Good luck on the job situation. Sounds like a tough choice.
Can't believe we're almost a year out. The kids are especially looking forward to it. I told them they can only go if they have good grades (since we have to pull them out of school). Every 100 they get, they tell me how much they want to go. Unfortunately, I have to keep reminding DS15. Anyone else's kids missing school for Cruisetoberfest?
Best wishes,
Laura :flower:

Jennifer, Job #1 is in a doctors office. I work for a lady doc, internal medicine. It used to be a cush job, but things have changed a bit lately. Job #2 is working with developmentaly disabled adults in a group home. I usually work 3-4 days per month. Mostly weekends. Love nursing, love my patients, love both jobs! Just having to deal with some changes right now. :bitelip: I'm sure everything will work out.
Laura, My kids will also miss school. But we get thier work for the week the miss and they will do it while we cruise. But this may be the last cruise during the school year for us. DD is in an advanced program now that she's in high school.

Hope the NY gang is enjoying themselves. :teeth:

Goodnight everyone!
Ave

Jean--- Sorry to hear about your Mother's fractured femur. Hope all goes well with her. Extra pixie dust your way.

Ave--- Great new about your house, I hope that you are able to have Thanksgiving dinner there. Sounds like you are very busy with your jobs. Good luck with whatever you decide.

Hope the gang in NYC are having fun despite the downpours we are having.

We haven't had rained for weeks and it has rained buckets over the past 2 days. I hated to go run errands yesterday but did.

Much cooler this morning, will need to get out a sweatshirt.

Enjoy the rest of the weekend everyone.

Nancy

Jeanniec - best wishes to you mum.
Ave - whatever decision you make will be the right one for your family.
Looks like they are changing the october break on us next year so I will have to ask for a day off to make the cruise. Just have to hope that I don't have too many classes on a Friday next year so my colleagues don't hate me too much!
Wendy

Here's a picture from Peter's camera phone of Eric, Anja and Jenn in NYC.

Hello all! It's been a bit crazy around here! Friday I spent the day packing for a day trip on Saturday with the car club! Daisy went to the kennel for the weekend. I was hoping I could pick her up today, but they said no. That's okay, Momma needs a break anyway! :earsgirl: We had a great time with the car club! Had lunch at Avalanche Pizza...our 3rd trip there!...then toured a few covered bridges in southern Ohio, then dinner at Ryan's. We left at 815 in the morning and didn't get home until nearly 11pm.

Jeannie, sorry to hear about your mom. Prayers and pixie dust headed her way!

Ave, good luck on your decision. I would love a 7-3 job. Puts me on the same schedule as my kids. However, I am also very lucky to be a stay at home mom for now! Although, I have thought about finding a part time job...like I don't have enought to do around here! I hope your home is ready for the holidays! What a wonderful (and hectic) time this is for you!

The NYC Group...looks like you are having a great time!! Can't wait to see all the photos from this trip!

Here are the boys at one of the bridges....

Have a great day!

Sad to say that we didn't make it into the city to see Eric/Anja and the rest. Many reasons as to why. Major disappointment... :guilty:

I know I'm 20 minutes early, Central time. But I'm ready for bed, :faint: and since Eric is on Eastern time, it's okay, isn't it????? :confused3

Great picture of Eric, Anja and Jenn in New York. Looks like it might be a bit chilly there.

Happy Birthday, Eric and Heidi!! :cheer2: :cheer2:
