To finally put an answer to this question?
Can 10-12 yo sign in and out themselves? Yes if you want them to. My DD is 10 yrs old and I marked the box that says No signing out priveleges. I also told them she was not to sign in and out herself, so they put a bright orange sticker on her KTTW card with an "N" on it. You even have to give a password when I signed her out.

Some cruisers had mentioned that it was not a choice...they could sign out and that was that. A few had the option of getting a beeper to get beeped that the kids were heading out but said that the Lab would not have kept them there for them if they wanted to go.

It's really good news to hear that it is up to the parents! So, now tell me was your daughter the only one there who didn't have the priviledge? Or did most kids have to be signed out?

Did she enjoy the lab?

I would say most of the kids had to be signed out. Even met a mom of 12 yo who wouldn't give sign out permission. My 10 yo old enjoyed the lab. But my 6 1/2 yo wasn't so pleased with the club. I only put them in at night after dinner, so at 10 PM its basically lights out and movie on in 5-7 yo club. My DD wanted to have fun. They did let them play dress up and computer when the movie was on, but DD said she couldn't get on computer and she is beyond dress up at 6 1/2. She's in 1st grade and has a 10 yo sister, anyone that has 2 kids, knows that the second one tries to keep up with the first. When she saw the mats out at night, she said this looks like pre school. They do keep the 3-4 and 5-7 together at night, Which is tough for kids that are more mature. If you have any more ?'s just ask.

Can you tell me some of the things your 10 year old enjoyed in the lab?

I know my dd would like the "planned activities" but what about the down time or unplanned time...did she have fun then? On our last cruise(3 day) our kids basically just went after dinner too. This time they may spend more time there as they really enjoyed it. DD was in the 5-7 group last time and DS was in the 3-4 group. So, each will be in a different group than they were last time. I'm doing the debate on whether to put DD in the 10-12 or the 8-9 she will be 3 weeks away from 10yo at the time.

Any input is appreciated
