We are back - no pixie dust for us..... in fact, there was not as much "fanfare" as I had expected - unless we were just not in the right places at the right time. We were not there at opening - Tara does not like that mass of people, so we try to avoid!
Driving under the arch with the new added castle and banner was nice (I'm getting good at photography at 50mph!)
The entrance was busier today when we arrived than I have seen in sometime, but it seems like the 1-finger scans keep things moving a bit quicker!
As we walked through the turnstiles, I noticed Clarabelle the Cow, and headed toward her. I had heard she and Horace were meeting & greeting recently, and wanted to add her to our collection. We are off to a good start. The family in front of us was the last family for that moment, but CM said she would be back shortly - shortly usually means only about 5 or 10 minutes, so i decided to wait. DD walked into Town Sq to see who might be there, and I was going to wait. I decided to walk in myself, and noticed both Horace & Clarabelle walk out - so I got back in my place in line FIRST!! Score - two new characters - all in the first 10 minutes of being in the park!
We then proceeded into Town Sq and saw my favorite fowl - Daisy Duck! The greeting lines were rather long, and much to my surprise Tara wanted to wait for her (we have her from Toontown). The lined moved rather quickly, and the pic is nice with the castle in the background. No other characters that we needed - we saw Pluto, Chip & Dale, I spoted Gepetto's hair and Foulfellows hat over by Tony's and the Exposition Building.
We stopped in the Emporium to see what new merchandise they had - secretly hoping to find a new blue autograph book with the castle on the front like the gold Happiest Celebration book - but it was not to be found (don't think there is going to be one! DD asked and was told no!) We found a couple displays of new stuff - mostly clothing - hats, shirts, etc but honestly not as much as I had thought! I guess it's competing with Halloween, and POTC stuff which still seems to be taking center stage (as soon as you walk in the corner door on Main St.!)
This shirt is like the POTC shirt Tara had on today - she loves the way it feels, so I am sure we will be picking one of these up!
We then headed out to Main St, just in time for the dancers! I always enjoy this performance.
Our plan today was to concentrate on the new shows - FOUR new shows - we missed the 11am show at the castle. Tara wanted to catch the 12noon High School Musical Pep rally. We stopped in Cosmic Rays and shared a burger and fries, visited with PUSH the trash can and by then it was time for the show.
It was cute - they sang three of the songs from the movie, and "taught" the kids the dance steps. I have to say that I find the music to this movie catchy, (good thing since for a couple months that was ALL we listened too!) - and found myself tapping my toes! This show takes place in an open area of Tomorrowland and it was quite toasty today!
Tara decided she was ready to go home. Instead we rode two round trips on the TTA, and she started looking at her Hidden Mickey book. This lead us to the Carousel of Progress, which I never mind doing.
This has nothing to do with anything - I just thought he looked cool rollerblading while he was cleaning up!
By the time this was over we had missed the castle show, and the Sleeping Beauty shows without having to hang out for a couple more hours - so we decided it was time to head home. The crowds seemed to be picking up - at one point Buzz was 10 minutes, and before we left Tomorrowland it as 50 min!
As we were leaving there was a big crowd coming into the park - it was almost 1:45. It was just a bit too busy, and a bit too warm to hang out any longer. We had a long day at EPCOT yesterday (Saturday), so it was enoug or me! But that's one of the great things about living close!
We did not head directly home - instead we headed to DTD and caught the 2:30 show of the non Disney "Open Season" - 2nd time this weekend. DD loved it I have to admit it is a pretty funny movied that makes you laugh at loud!
We noticed less lovebugs today than we did in EPCOT, they seem to be coming to an end. I have to say that there are more in Disney than at my house though!
We still need to catch the Dream Along w/Disney, Family Fun Parades, Let's Have a Ball, and Woody's Round up (I think that's the name) - but it's nice to have new things to look forward to!
This is one of those weekends that make me glad I work from home, and although I have to work tomorrow - I don't have to be "on", I think I'm going to be weary!!!!
