10/1/21 (Planning thread for those w/ Magic Kingdom ressies on the BIG 50th)!

Ok prior post has me wondering what time are people planning on getting to MK? I was planning 530/6 leaving contemporary but now I wonder if that’s just not early enough based on a number of posts!

So what’s everyone’s game plan, arrival? Mid day break? Staying till close?

Yea- the 3am thing got me like 😳!!!
We are staying at POP so can really only get there as early as the 1st bus can! We hope to be at the bus stop by 6am- I def think they will have much more MK busses that morning 🤞🏼
we are staying opening to close with 2 ADRS mixed in- it is going to be a LOOOOOOOOONG day!!!

Created an account to join this thread, my wife an I might be a little crazy, we bought a bay lake tower DVC contract with the 50th in mind. We will be lining up from around 3AM on Oct 1. Hope to see some of you there.
3am.. why? What am I missing? Despite some sort of park capacity measured... do you think they will full and doors closed? (i.e. NYE' sort of thing)

We are staying on site so we will be at the mercy of the buses since I can only imagine that driving will be an even greater nightmare. Clearly not everyone will get on the first buses. But I don't know that being first in the park really means much like it does when you're trying to rope drop rides. If you have a reservation you will get in. DW and I just don't want to miss park opening and any accompanying ceremonies. I am curious how many people are actually going to be running to get on rides first thing. I just hope people pack their patience because it is going to be crowded, both on the transportation and in the parks.

I do hope Disney puts out some information as to what time buses will start running, walkways will open and if people can line up early at the park.

My only goal on the first is to take a photo in front of the castle so I can prove I was there. :) With the park reservation I feel comfortable waiting until the initial rush of people passes. We will bus over from All Star Movies around 10-11. Not sure how long we’ll stay or if we’ll ride anything. It will depend on how comfortable we are with the crowds.

We decided we're going to uber to the Contemporary around 430-5am and then walk to till they stop us
if you have a park pass…why?

we are staying at CR and we have plans to walk to CR around 7ish, close to 7:30. I doubt there will be anything special going on at 5 am.

same question for you…why? Nothing will be happening at 3 am…as long as you have a day pass you are in…

i am having a hard time explaining to my hubby / understanding why people are going to arrive 5 hours early when you are guaranteed an entry.

we are staying CR tower,, have Cindy rezzies at 8 and plan on arriving at the gate early 7ish…and hubby thinks that is way too early.

Since resort guests can enter 1/2 hour early I will likely leave hotel at 7am at the earliest. It is going to be a hot and crowded day. I figure we will stay at least until after our noonish lunch reservation in the park. If we have been having a good time, I could see staying longer, but that is the hottest part of the day and usually that's when we return to resort. Plan on having dinner at hotel in the evening hours and returning after dinner, depending on crowds. If we can't get back in, I expect that it will be so crowded that we wouldn't want to get back in.

I have tried staying all day at Epcot for NYE and it's too exhausting for me (and we didn't even get there at opening). Definitely will not stay all day.

I'm not concerned about park capacity, but with the recent trend of scalping and reselling I want to ensure that I am near the front of the line for any day of/LE merchandise. Plus being one of the first into the park on the 1st should be a cool experience.

Disney has limited all purchases to a quantity of 2 per person for non food non poncho items. We booked Cindys for breakfast to get in early.

That's good to hear, hopefully will help. Though I have a feeling that means the merch line will be even longer, will still prefer to get there early to be done with merch in time to see any ceremony etc they might do mid-morning.

We foolishly forgot our ADR window so we missed out on any ADRs in MK on the day, keep checking back but so far only managed lunch at Grand Floridian Cafe.

This is the most common reason I have heard from people IRL about why they want to be there as soon as the gates open. Even with purchases limited to two per person, there are some concerns that inventory will run out. That being said, it is an 18 month celebration, so one would hope that things would be re-stocked throughout the celebration, with perhaps the exception of any special 10/1 specific merchandise.

Are they really going to have some fantastic item that will only be available the first few hours? I can't imagine. I'm not a shopper though.

Depends on what you're in to. I'm an avid pin collector so I'll be looking for limited edition pins. I'm fairly sure the LE pins for Hollywood studios 30th sold out by mid morning.

Zero reason for me to get there before the gates open. I'll be on the first bus from Pop, but no earlier than that. Kinda confused why people would get there so early. Its not like it's a free for all, if you have a park reservation, you're getting in.
I'm in total agreement. If your on property and you have a theme park reservation. Why would you want to line up at 3 am? They're still only going to allow guests on property first ( 7:30). Soooo sleep in people.

Oh my.. you just put the idea in my head too LOL.. enjoy!

So IF they have special October 1st specific merch, where would that normally be? Just randomly in the Emporium, or in a specific spot in the store? In a different place all together?
