videoman...I totally agree with you..I understand that alot of the resorts had damage but now we are left high and dry and why did they wait until now to call us....Couldn't someone have called us last week (I will give them the benefit of the doubt and say that maybe they didn't have phone service but couldn't someone have tried to call us on their cell phones?) I did post on the cruise thread for all of the rest of the Diser's who might be staying there to be forewarned...they don't know when they are going to reopen.

I asked Ron Jon why they didn't call sooner since they didn't leave us much time to find a place to stay and was told that Management decided today to cancel rooms through October 3. It looks like they are going by how much longer it will take to fix up the place. I'm not a happy camper.

What a bummer about the Ron Jon resort. We stayed there in August and it was gorgeous. I'm surprised it sustained so much damage because it looked like it was really well constructed..... I suppose even the studiest structures are no match for a hurricane. We cancelled our reservation at the Hyatt because it was too expensive, and made one at the La Quinta Airport North for $45/night. We won't arrive until a little before 9p.m. but if anyone else is arriving that evening we'd love to have you join us there.

We booked the Radisson online and it was I think $84/night plus taxes. There are stricter cancellation policies but figured that we wouldn't be cancelling.

I just got censored again!!!!! The first time (about a week ago) I didn't realize that the "B" word that rhymes with tube was a bad word! Now I just typed (on another thread!) what I thought was the correct abbreviation for assistant and it came out ***'t.!!!!!!!!

I GET IN TROUBLE WITHOUT EVEN TRYING!!!!!!!!

about Ron Jon's. I realize that they may have had some damage but come on, they could have found a way to call their clients sooner than this. Isn't a very good way to make a first impression either.

Looks like the alternate party to Ron Jon's is going to either be at one of two timeshares that I was able to book for us in Orlando....and no Peter, I am not putting you up in my DVC timeshare...you can only dream!!! So anyone who is in the Orlando area, that's where bettemom, hygiene99, us and piglet33 will be....I don't drink but after the last few months, I may be attending the Friends of Bill W meetings while on board!! First, we couldn't get a kennel, then they cancelled my airline tickets because the airline stopped flying out of my local airport and now this....if I was superstitious (sp?), I would have bailed by now!!!

Kim and Bette, Peter and Jen and Reneé and Lenny...I am mailing out envelopes to you tomorrow with all of the information and when I get a hard copy of confirmation, I will fax them!!

Peter...a little birdie told me that we don't have to worry about going out for dinner while in Orlando--we will be eating smores with the 60 chocolate bars that someone bought....we love chocolate anyway!!!

Just got a reply from Dreams that my docs were sent 3 day UPS so I should get them tomorrow. Yippee. Can't wait.

Also feel a lot better now that we know we have someplace to stay the night before too. Thank You Mary Jo!!!

I got a call at work today from "my brother from Germany"!LOL! (I got a discount for Eric and Anja at the downtown Holiday Inn by saying he was a family member)
We will be meeting up with them in a few hours!!!!

Total Bummer about Ron Jons!If anyone is in a real jam, I can offer the sleeper sofa in our suite. I can put the kids on the floor in the bedroom.

Fiona..I booked the same thing (only got the suite for 115.) Pre-payment was required and you loose 25% if you cancel.

Glad that it seems to have worked out with Ron Jon's -- you'd think they would have given you more notice and at least helped with alternate arrangements.

Sorry to hear about the Ron Jon cancellations! Seems they could have called last week, not very good customer service. For the party people staying at the orlando timeshares, will you still be game for the jetty park picnic? I haven't read about their damage but I'd better call a park employee to confirm.Just let me know what you guys want to do.

Good news is we just received our docs Dog was going nuts barking and I knew ups was here- yeah sorry to say we were not upgraded

AuntMeMe...we didn't commit to Jetty Park but were thinking of coming down once we arrived at Ron Jon's however, we will not be coming down to the port until the morning. Can't speak for everyone else but we will do dinner in Orlando.

Jeanne--We're at LaQuinta Airport N also. We should be landing in Orlando at 7 pm. I haven't called them to see if there's any problem with our ressies. I made them thru Hotels.com & we're paying $53.
