Park the Car - Head to the Terminal - Security - Gate - Check in - Fly!

Wow...that is longer then any departure day we've ever dealt with. :scared1:

I think this is why we've always sprung for non-stop direct.

Was the Rochester Airport as easy as "Park the Car - Head to the Terminal - Security - Gate - Check in - Fly!
"? Curious, I've thought about flying out of Rochester. When we flew out of Flint, it really WAS that quick.

Oh yeah... small airport, completely hassle free.

And for what it's worth, Buffalo is as well.

We just chose Rochester this time as we waited a bit to long to book, and when we were ready Buffalo was about $200 more.

And parking also turned out to be cheaper at Rochester - $50 for 8 days.

Buffalo I believe is about $80.

We did see a lot across the road from the airport, it was a private lot. It said "Parking $15/week". But as my wife pointed out, it will likely also cost you your stereo, your tires, etc...

Nice...I really hope the free dining plan next year works, I so want to try Riverside. Still hoping they offer up this year like they did last. We've crossed our fingers since last year (they are really hurting now).

Magnolia's nice, I like the planation feeling, but I think we're more set on the Alligator Bayou.

Should have waited till 3am, the check-in line might have thinned out by then. :lmao:

Sounds alot like Flint (minus the park-at-own-risk lot). Very good to know. Flint was a viable option to us last year cause it was close to our in-laws making them an ideal launching point. But i'd rather be closer to home next time, plus flight options were lessened this year.

I like the pictures of the resort so far....I have never seen that one before. Is this the one that was formerly Dixie Landing or something like that years ago?

nice pics brian!!! we stayed at dixie landings about 14 years ago. we havnt been back over to check it out. maybe this trip. :thumbsup2

Subbing also! I am from BC and we are heading down to POR in Nov/Dec with free dining. This will be my 5th (out of 6 visits) staying at POR. I have never stayed in the mansion sections as we are a family of 5 but now our family is grown and I am going with my 2 sisters. I am gonna have to check out Magnolia Terrace. Waiting for the next installment....popcorn::

Hi, I am enjoying your report. Glad you like POR, I saw your post over on Andre's thread :)

I love the Hidden Mickeys in the room. We are always on the lookout for them and even the kids get into it. Great Pix!!

This is starting to get exciting. I have a feeling that the next day will be great with perhaps a meetup with another DIS Dad??? The suspense is killing me...

Long travel day! yuck!

Great pics of the resort Brian...definitely my style. I love the southern feel it has.

Glad to see you made it to WDW, I never even thought about looking for hidden Mickey's in the rooms:confused3

Thanks Dave...
Never been to the original Dixie Landings, but as often as you go... a quick visit wouldn't hurt. :thumbsup2

:welcome: deanie... I quickly walked through the AB section, seemed nice as well. A lot more rustic.

:welcome: Backstage_Gal... Glad you are enjoying it. There is a WEALTH of knowledge over on Andre's thread, and website. Almost to much...

The anticipation is killing me, it's just like the build up to the vacation. :rotfl2:

I highly recommend you go Scott... the further you are from me, maybe the smog and stench will clear up. :rotfl2: :lmao: :rotfl2:

No really Scott, thanks... it's a very spacious and relaxed feel to the resort. And as always with anywhere WDW, the staff was very friendly and helpful. Which reminds me... I need to continue on with the next chapter of the check-in, aka The Continuing Reservation :scared1:...

Glad to see you made it to WDW, I never even thought about looking for hidden Mickey's in the rooms:confused3

We look for Hidden Mickey's EVERYWHERE. I am pretty sure a bunch that we find aren't actual hidden mickey's, as generally they are no where near WDW.
:rotfl2:

Wow... Turns out they live about 3 minutes away from us.
And it took a few hours on the road just to find out about it. :rotfl2:

It's around 8:45 and the airplane is outside the gate, everything is looking up... then the announcement... :sad2:
Been there too many times...

As we are boarding, and they are about to close the plane door, a couple around the middle refuses to sit down in their seats. Why? The seat is wet and dirty from the previous flight. There was a full "Air Sickness" bag on their seat.

So now the crew has to call in the Maintenance team, with their heavy duty chemicals and they clean down the seat, remove any residue, and finally we are ready to leave. Around 10:30.
Wow... I'm still not sure I'd have sat in that seat knowing what was just there a few minutes before. :faint:

Third Stop - (almost 1:30 am) - Port Orleans.

Long Day...
:faint:

OK, enough pictures - it's closing in on 2:00 am, and tomorrow is a Park Day.
I can't believe you took pictures... I'd have just walked in the room and collapsed into bed.

Long travel day! yuck!
Nice use of your ninja like talents to sneak onto his plane and puke on a seat. Next time try to get his actual seat though. :rotfl2::lmao::rotfl:

We pick up a quick bite, and sit down to eat it. As we are eating, my DD starts staring at a girl at the next table, and their daughter starts staring at my DD. To be honest I didn't even notice this happening, but they looked over at our table and asked... "Do you girls know each other?"

Both a little shy, but they nod ::yes::.

Great. You had to go and get that song stuck in my head, didn't you?

"Attention ladies and gentlemen, the airplane is on time and ready. However the flight crew for this flight is late coming in on another flight. They are scheduled to arrive around 9:15, then they have to deplane, and debrief with their captain on the other flight, then find their way to this gate, do preliminary checks, and a preliminary briefing with this captain, then they can start boarding".

Also, they need to fill out 30 IRS forms in triplicate and go through the security line again.

As we are boarding, and they are about to close the plane door, a couple around the middle refuses to sit down in their seats. Why? The seat is wet and dirty from the previous flight. There was a full "Air Sickness" bag on their seat.

Ewww...

So: really? The flight crew didn't notice that? :confused3

This was our first time at Port Orleans Riverside, and our first impressions, even that late at night were in awe. Such a beautiful resort.

Absolutely love POR. Great place to stay.

OK, enough pictures - it's closing in on 2:00 am, and tomorrow is a Park Day.

Dude, stop taking pictures and go to sleep! :lmao:

After our side excursion to Niagara Falls, it's off to Rochester to catch our plane.
Looked like fun, even though you had to endure it with the unwashed masses.

Good... now off to Wal-Mart as my DS lost his sunglasses before we left. Picked up a pair of Phineas and Ferb sunglasses
Ug. Travel all the way from Canada and visit a Wal-Mart. No wonder the rest of the world thinks we're all fat, lazy slobs. Well, most of us are, but going to a Wal-Mart pretty much proves it. The shades were sweet, though.

As we are boarding, and they are about to close the plane door, a couple around the middle refuses to sit down in their seats. Why? The seat is wet and dirty from the previous flight. There was a full "Air Sickness" bag on their seat.
OK, I was about to start railing on those people because they were probably complaining about an empty peanut bag or something, but that's a legitimate gripe. Clearly, the flight crew from the previous flight decided to leave it as as "present" for the next flight crew.

So we get out bags, and head to ME counter, and board the bus around 12:00 am. We are the first ones on the bus. So we wait, and we wait... until the bus is about half full. It's now close to 12:45 am, and we finally leave to WDW.
Nope. I'd be snoring by about 12:05. Wake me up when we get there.

We just flew in, and arrived at Port Orleans, and as the old joke goes "Boy are my arm's tired".
FreezinRafiki Approved. :thumbsup2

OK, enough pictures - it's closing in on 2:00 am, and tomorrow is a Park Day.
Um, don't you mean "today" is a park day?
