1 Year to SAVE!!!

I have decided I will get back to Mickey in 2012 if it's the last thing I do.

Need $1550 (It's just me and DD12 - Airfare, YEStix, PopC, food)
Have $310 in the super secret stash
Have $60 in the change jar (just counted this morning)
Have $20 check from Toluna

That leaves $1160 left to save!

Need $1550
Have $500 in the super secret stash (yay Christmas money!)
Have $70 in the change jar

That leaves $980 left to save!!! I'm under a thousand now, that's very motivating, plus I got some stuff up on craigslist tonight, and more going on tomorrow. It's my goal to always have something for sale on craigslist, because if it's not listed, it can't sell!!!!

Realized last week that Target now sells Disney gift cards. Now I'm saving all those "Buy three pkgs of toilet paper and get a $5 gift card" gift cards to buy Mickey Money! Wahoo!!!

And how crazy is this - I can't *WAIT* to have my first garage sale of the season this year. I absolutely loathe having garage sales, but I do it at least twice a year (all for Mickey LOL)

I really have a taste for a Mickey Bar.

Wow! You guys are amazing! You have inspired me to do the same.
We are going in Oct 2012. We already have the room paid for--went through GETO for a timeshare for $369 for the week.

We already have our tickets from two years ago--we made them non-expiry, and will have to buy tix to the MNSSHP.

Plus food, etc.

How do some of you make the groceries last for a week with $100 budgets?
I need to do this!

Lisa

We had a crazy busy weekend, but I still managed to come $20 under budget on groceries... :cool1:

Goal: $1000
Former balance: $405.08
Saved this week: $20.00
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Left to save: $385.08
DH and I had our anniversary this past Tuesday and only got cards for each other. Payday is tomorrow and we can talk about how much $ to throw in the Mickey jar since we didn't get gifts or go out to dinner...
Nicely done!
Another $120 for my trip!!!!!!:cheer2:
Sort of. :sad2:
A week ago Friday, I received 2 refund checks from the medical imaging center where I had work done this past year. Each for $60 and each made out to someone else. This person has the same last name as me but a different first name. She also lives in the same town as me.
I spent a week trying to get this ironed out. Were the refunds meant for me? Or did they put the right name but wrong address on these checks? No account number, patient ID or any other explanation came with these checks. Just the checks. :badpc:
I finally got someone who would take ownership of the problem for me, even though she could not solve the problem herself. She took it upon herself to make sure that the person who could solve the mystery got my message.:worship:
I got the call this morning from that mystery-solver. The refunds were supposed to be for me!!! :banana: I just have to send the voided checks back to her and they are re-issuing the checks with the correct name on them. :woohoo:
The only problem is -
I leave for Disney in 4 days!!!!
I guess that I'll just use it as seed money for my next trip. ;) I just love "found" money!
What a great surprise....more $$$ for MICKEY!!!! :cool1: Have a great time on your trip!!!!!!!!!!!:dance3:
I'm joigning too! I have read all the previous threads and oh boy you guys are amazing and inspiring:thumbsup2. I've always been to Disney around the summer time and would like to go around Christmas when all the decorations are up in the park. I'm aiming for December 2012.
Goal: $2900
Former balance: $17.30
Saved this week: in progress
Found more money! Sold some coins and got a good price from a reputable shop:cool1: soooo...
Need $1550
Have $560 in the super secret stash
Have $80 in the change jar (found more in the house and counted this morning)
That leaves $910!
COME ON CRAIGSLIST! I need more $$$$$!!! I'm looking to go Labor Day weekend, so I have eight full months. That's about $115 a month, I know I can do it.
It's 35 weeks until I can go (at least I hope I can go) so if I can put away $10 a week every Monday, that's another $350. $910-$350=$560. I bet I can do $160 at a garage sale $560-160=$400. I bet I can sell $150 on Craigslist, so $400-$150=$250. I'll get about $175 for my birthday (crazy, I know, but I still get birthday money) so $250-$175=$75. Pretty sure I can make $75 appear sometime over the next eight months :)
Everyone is doing a great job saving! Yay go us!!!
It took me two days but I finally read every post and I have registered for so many sites haha
Anyway, after our tax refund we will be credit card debt free :cheer2:
We are hoping to go to Disney in Oct 2012.
I have so much to sell and my goal is 1000 a month till march and then depending on how I am doing we will decide if we are going or not. This is also all depended that our tax return will be what we think it will be.
If anyone hears of or sees airfare discounts/ coupons will you please post them?
Doing pretty good here so far have:
$250 Disney gift cards- Quickpoints/Walgreens(another $100 by next week)
$100 in Rainforest Cafe GCs
$380 in Visa Disney Rewards
I've been doing all the surveys I can but it gets to be a real pain. OK it's all for a good cause though.:)
Also have my new Southwest Airlines card with over 50,000 points which should take care of most of our flights if I get the kind of deals that I've found in the past.
Hoping for the YES program to be available 10/13-10/20/12 to help with tickets- grandkids will love the classes. If not I will have to use UT through Mousesavers link which I've done in the past and it is a decent deal.
Have a search going for DVC 1 bdrm using DDs timeshare points- That will be a great deal. I feel like I can't really start planning until we get the room.
I'm ready to get my planning going just need some of those details worked out.
Wondering what this new promo may be.:confused3 Just hoping it's something I can use to save a little more.:thumbsup2
Any QuickRewards members out there? So, I had been doing the surveys, trucking along making money. I got to $40, now I have basically been "shut out" for about a month...meaning I am rejected for EVERY SINGLE SURVEY I attempt~ :scared1: Anyone else have this issue at all???
Same here. Made maybe $2 in the last month. I'm at $59 and change. Not sure what the deal is. I've cleared out the cache and all that jazz too. :confused:
Okay, update on my lack of progress. With Christmas shopping and having extras for dinners I haven't saved any of my own money but did get $75 in Christmas cash I'm adding to the fund.
Goal: $1500
Saved to date: $645
Left to save: $855
Hoping to do better next month. We'll see! :thumbsup2
I haven't read all of the other responses, but definitely start couponing if you don't already. Don't buy things just because you have a coupon though -only buy it if you need it.
I saved tons of money by cutting back on Starbucks, and making my own coffee at home.
As someone else had mentioned, buy Disney Gift Cards. That way, you won't be tempted to spend the extra money on something else.
When people ask what I want for my birthday, I always tell them Disney gift cards :thumbsup2
I just completed the DVC phone tour & will be getting a $40 GC in the mail :)
Interesting.. but what's a "DVC phone tour" and how do you get on it?
Thanks
Disney Vacation Club tour. If you have a Disney Visa you may have rec'd a postcard with all the info. All you need to do is call & listen to a 10 min (or more in my case) pitch & they will send you a $40 GC via Fed Ex! Easy $$. :)
I'm jumping on board, too! My plan is to go next October for my girls' fall break. It will only be a short trip (Friday to Tuesday) because my husband absolutely refuses for the girls to miss any school but since we usually go in the summer, I think it will be worth it. It will be my mom, me, DD7 and DD6.
Predicted budget: $2750-$3000 but my mom is doing half so for me $1500.
So far:
$100 Disney GC for Christmas
$45 change jar
$16 Field Agent
$15 Surveys
Total of $176
To go: $1324 Divided by 10 months = $132.24 a month
I haven't done much with Quick Rewards, but I've noticed that on Sunshine Rewards it is streaky. Sometimes I'll get a string of getting 4 or 5 of their daily surveys each day, and others I'll go a week without getting accepted for any. I figure around the holidays there are probably more people thinking about the budget and attempting these surveys, so the odds of them already having met the quota for any specific demographic are higher.
Checking in with my progress so far. With the holidays I really haven't done much, just stashing some change and coupon savings and keeping up with Sunshine Rewards surveys. The real work will start after our trip later this month.
Goal - $1900
Saved so far - $65.09
Remaining - $1834.91
