1 Year Olds Shoe Size??and Crocs

This may sound like a stupid question.. but whats the average shoe size for a 1 year old??? My daughter will be 1 in June and I was going to get her some crocs for the summer but the smallest size is 4/5 and they look huge... any advice here...would be appreciated.. AND has anyone had their newly walking child wear any type of croc and find them too clumsy?
 
I think a one year old may have a hard time with crocs.As cute as they may be on a little one, I think they may be a bit too clunky and insecure for a new walker.
 
My seven month old is outgrowing size 2 shoes. HTH!

I would have to agree with this.
 
I was going tosay 4/5....it just depends on the child. MY DD wore Robeez for the first few months she walked (she was really little though 9 months) My son went right into sneakers....

I would think Crocs would be fine, they are form fitting to the foot.
 
I also don't think crocs are a good idea for a new walker. I think they are too loose fitting for her to be stable in them. You are better off finding a sandle that has velcro straps that can fit snugly on her feet. When DS15 started walking at 8 months he was in a size 5. Our twins first shoes at 12 months were size 3 and 4. The funny thing is our size 3 twin, DS12 now wears a 10 1/2 in MENS and DD12 wears a 10 in women's :scared1: . Kids have really big feet these days.
 
We are Crocs people here, ESPECIALLY my son. He's 3 and I'm buying his 3rd pair today. He loves them because he can put them on/take them off all by himself and they are not restrictive. However, I don't think I'd buy them for a child younger than 2 or one who isn't extremely well-coordinated (able to run, control direction and motion very well, etc.).

As for the "average" size, that REALLY varies from child to child. My son was in a size 6 at 18 months and is going into a 10/11 Crocs now at 39 months. I know kids 2 years older than him with shoe sizes much smaller. :confused3 It may well be that your dd is just too small even for the smallest sizes. I did see another company's tiny baby sandals, similar to Crocs, and those shoes weren't as clunky...but they were a slightly different material so I'm not sure what the deal is with those.
 
Crocs were not around when my girls were 1, but I have to say, if I had a 1 year old now, I wouldn't buy them :sad2: I'm really particular on what my babies wore, and I would only have them fitted by a professional (we have an awesome small shoe store in our area, and workers are fully trained on how to size a foot, and test to see if a shoe fits correctly), and I only bought StrideRite or Jumping Jacks for them.

I don't have a problem with Crocs, both of my girls wear them now, and my DH and I have a couple of pairs too. But I do think they aren't right for a new walker - to clunky (IMO).
 
DD is 11m old and is wearing a 4, but I know the 4/5 crocs will be too big and unstable. Look into Sketchers, they have some really cute croc-like shoes with straps.
 
All of mine were around 3 or 4, but I wouldn't put crocs on a 1 year old - too flimsy.
