hello~

Our daughter will be 1 year old when we go on vacation this year..

I was wondering how the experience has been with the little ones and the parks evening shows (such as Wishes, Illuminations and Fantasmic).. i am just afraid that she will not like the firework noise and such.

Thanks for the help.

Kristin

When my dd was 15 mo old she was freaked out by the fireworks at the MK & that was from watching them at the Poly's beach. She was very verbal & understood very well too so even telling her freaked her out.

We also did Illuminations one night & she was OK with the beginning but at the end when all the fireworks (the white ones) went off she freaked out so we left.

At 1 year my DD was indifferent. In fact she fell asleep towards the end of MNSSHP Fireworks. At 18 months she seemed midly interested but didn't like the noise much.

We are going again in March so I will be interested in seeing how she is at 2 years old.

My daughter loved the lights of the fireworks..Not the noise. My husband found child ear protection gear for her to wear (think old clunky headphones only for noise blocking). Gywenth Paltrow had her daugther wear them for her husbands concerts.. This isn't were we got it (don't know where exactly) but here's an example:

We will be watching the fireworks from Ohana's...My dd doesn't like loud noises so hopefully this will be better..we made our ADR for 745, someone said you get a great view!

While we haven't yet done Disney fireworks, our girls loved fireworks of all kinds at 1 but HATED them at 2. Too much noise. Although we were able to talk them through it and at the end they did say they liked it.

We'll see what happens this trip!

every one of my 6 kids loved fireworks at all ages... I think when they are little and something that startles them happens they look to mom and dad to see how they react just so they know if its ok or not.... (atleast that is how the lil kids I know have been).... if you clap your hands and act excited for them directed in a manner they understand then they will of course take some comfort in knowing that it is safe and something to enjoy.....

Good luck and have a nice trip

Kristen- We will be there in April with DS who will also be 1 for his first trip~! I had the same question! haha!

Thanks for the earphone advice DisneyFOS! What a great idea for some of the rides as well!!

With all the excitement, DS (19 months) has never made it that late, and has slept right through Wishes twice.

DD3 isn't a big fan of the noise of fireworks but we found during our last trip that she didn't even make it to the nighttime entertainment at Disney so it wasn't an issue. She was sound asleep every night when it came time for fireworks. Just too much excitement during the day!

I also had the same question.....I guess we all think and try to plan alike.:thumbsup2

I think the earphones will be a good investment, since they are only 15-20 bucks! I just hope my son doesnt try to take them off the whole time :( I do love the idea of being able to put earphones on him while he sleeps! I will be there in September also Kendyll's mom :) So, I will let you know how they are after our April trip!
