hi there! i'm going to be at disney 6 - 7 days over a 2 week period with my best friend from school and we're paying OOP for food since we can't get the DDP because we're staying off-site.

i know most people do CS for lunch and TS for dinner, but i think we'd like to try TS for lunch and CS for dinner because since we're older than most of the kids who will be at the parks, we'll probably spend most of our nights there and we'd rather keep going while (hopefully) most others are busy at dinner sitting down and whatnot.

i'd love some comments on this if anyone has done it and had it work before, because i normally go with my boyfriend and we usually only do CS because of price constraints. thanks!:goodvibes

Well - This is a fine plan... and one I usually like... although on the DDP... TS Dinners (I Feel ) make better use of $$....

I like LUNCH TS Because I am usually watching my weight... and usually eat a Large lunch and smaller dinner .... (And my rule at home is "MUST" eat dinner before 6p).....

So with a few exceptions... I have done this as well.......On OOP plan... I think you will make out better this way....

For Example:

MK: LUNCH - CRT, Dinner - Cosmic Rays
Epcot: LUNCH - Teppan Edo, Dinner - Sunshine Seasons OR America
DHS: LUNCH - 50's Prime Time, Dinner - Sunset Market
AK: Lunch/Dinner: Y&Y and Flame Tree... (Y&Y Is both a CS and TS)

Hugs,
Mary

thanks for the input! i think we were thinking mostly along the lines of what you said! a fairly good TS for lunch (i think the priciest we're doing is crystal palace once) and then we're doing mostly things like burgers/hot dogs/chicken nuggets for dinner as we're running around, with the possible exception of the princess story book dinner if i can convince my disney buddy to come (he's a 20 year old guy :-P) hehe. thanks again!

We tend to do TS for breakfast or lunch because our kids are usually too tired by dinner. It's much easier to do this, but occasionally have TS for dinner, but it's rare. Enjoy!:thumbsup2

awesome! i thought we'd be some sort of weird exception since i tend to see most people doing CS for lunch and TS for dinner!

When I was at WDW for a week with a friend (two adult women), we ate four TS meals at mid-day. Sometimes this meal was enough that our evening meal was somewhere between CS snack and meal. Sometimes we shared evening meal/snacks.

When paying cash, lunchtime is a better way to go for buffets like Tusker House and Crystal Palace. Costs something like $10 less, food is pretty much the same.

Enjoy!

We prefer this also. It is also better on the $$. This past trip we ate LUNCH at LeCellier and the filet and strip were like $10 less each, and still plenty. We have also done the LeChef's (France) lunch and it is a very good option. They have 3 course specials there for like $20.
Also, we could not get a CRT ressie before our trip and we walked-up at LUNCH time and got in. This is my 3rd time to get in at lunch without a ressie. Only 2 of us though.
We always try to eat at Sci-Fi at DHS. We get the burger/shake at both lunch and dinner. Under $20.

When we go we sort of mix it up. Sometimes we have a big brunch buffet, and CS for dinner or we'll have a pastry for breakfast, big TS lunch & then a light dinner. I prefer lunch for not only the cost savings, but I'm usually the most hungry mid-day and the portions are a bit smaller, although IMO still bigger than a meal should be, especially if I'm having the cheese soup at Le Cellier first. Having a big TS lunch also gives me time to walk it off & not feel so bloated at bed time, and like a PP stated, sometimes I am just in the mood for a light snack by dinner time. OTOH, I do like a nice sit-down dinner on occasion so we usually plan a late dinner at CG with a birds eye view of the fireworks. It's usually our big splurge for the week & we love it there.

This is my plan for our next trip as we will be paying OOP. I'd rather eat the larger meal midday and often we are tired and just want to take it easy in the evenings rather than getting changed and going to a TS dinner.
