Regarding the new rule does 1 transfer per year mean per your personal use year? 1 Jan - Dec? 1 every 12 months?

Your use year.

MS told me 1 transfer per member each UY effective Aug 1st.

I'm assuming the transfer I completed & promptly banked to my Oct. '06 UY don't count as my annual transfer @ least I hope so...

anyone with 1st hand experience yet?

If you had points transferred into your account then yes, that would count for your one transfer for this use year. But points that you banked or borrowed from your own account don't count as transfers.

Yes. Since your October '05 year runs from October 1 2005-September 30, 2006, you've done your one transfer for your '05 UY. At any time after October 1, 2006, when your '06 UY starts, you would be able to make your one-per-use-year transfer.

good:cool1: I was hoping I'd didn't use up my transfer for 06 already!

I unfortunately do have first hand experience with this. Was all set to receive 70 pts today from a very nice DISer and MS told him that since he had made a small transfer earlier in the year (but during his prior Use Year) he could not make any more transfers this calendar year. I was quite bummed. Perhaps MS was in error and should have allowed it? :confused3

I was told Use Year and not calendar year...but I haven't actually tried it. I'm sorry to hear that you had problems with that.

Perhaps if he called back & spoke to another CM (then a supervisor if it didn't work out)...

since the "announcement was made Aug. 1st, would think they'd grand-father in all prior transactions & begin anew...wishful thinking I'm sure.

now I am confused. do you transfer from your own account or someone elses?

if you tranferred from your own account I though it didn't count?

how about members who have more than one member number? they can still transfer to their other accounts?

I do not remember receiving an email about the point transfer information that is being discussed now. Are we being allowed only on transfer into our account??? I occassionaly transfer in 2 times a year (BWV & BCV 1 each) small amts of points to complete my reservations...ie this yr I transfered in 14 points for my Nov 06 reservation and 5 points for May 07 vacation.
Is this going to be a problem for me in the future??? If this is so, they are hurting honest members...and forcing us to purchase more points...Guess I better look into adding on 25pts at each place.

I also did not receive email on this. Can someone post the original email from DVC in this thread?

You'd be limited by the 1/per year proviso that they're now enforcing.

I've read the email from DVC more times than I care to admit...

"Additionally, current policies limit vacation point transfers transactions to one transfer per member or membership, either as tranferee or transferer, during a given UY."

so...again I'll ask...does transferring into my '05 UY, then banking to '06, take up "eligibility" for both UY or just 05?:confused3

whatever the interpretation, I hope DVC sticks to it whether it's 1 point or 1000...a rule's a rule & should apply equally.

It's not a new rule. It's a stricter enforcement of an already existing rule.
Actually it's a reincarnation of a rule that was changed and now apparently changed back almost 4 years later.
