I called MS last month to reserve a 2BR at AKL. I wanted Jambo Standard view--standard since we're low on points, Jambo because of Boma, Mara and because at least we know definitely that with standard we'd get a pool view while Kidani standard is still an unknown quantity and we could end up with a parking lot view. But all they had available was a 2BR lockoff in Kidani. So I waitlisted for a 2BR in Jambo and also for a 2BR dedicated in Kidani--I figured that if we had to be in Kidani we might as well have the room with a little more extra space.

The CM told me something about having more than 1 waitlist--I think she said that if the 1st comes thru then the 2nd one is cancelled? I'm not sure whether I understood correctly; does anyone know? I know that this CM gave me some info that was incorrect (said I couldn't borrow from my 2010 points yet since my UY is March so I would have to wait til March to make the ressie if I wanted to use those points--I asked her to just try and the ressie worked fine) so I'm wondering how right she was about the waitlists.

I looked on the website today and saw that one of the waitlists came through--the ressie has changed from Kidani 2BR lockoff to Kidani 2BR dedicated. So if I still want to stay on the waitlist for Jambo 2BR do I need to call MS again?

Not sure but I would definately call and check if you still would like to be on the waitlist.

You'd probably have to call back again. Once a waitlist if filled, I believe that the other ones fall off. That's like being waitlisted at AKV and VWL. Once AKV comes though....you're no longer waiting for VWL.

They changed the policy a while ago. If you waitlist for more than one option, if one comes through the other waitlists are cancelled. If you did not get your first choice and want to try again, you have to create a new waitlist and you go to the end of the line.

As of Feb 1st, you can only have two active waitlists per Use Year. Provided you don't have other waitlists pending for other stays, MS can set up a new waitlist request for you for a Standard View 2BR in Jambo House.

Thanks everyone for the info! I don't have another waitlist going right now and won't be making another trip until 2010 so I can put in a new request.

BUT now I need to decide whether I really want to try for Jambo or just stay with Kidani. We'll be bringing my sister and her family and they were excited to hear that we would be in a brand new building--which is one thing I'm actually not too crazy about. Decisions, decisions--I might even post a poll?

It's a difficult choice. The advantages to staying in Jambo House are the guaranteed pool view and easy access to the restaurants there, especially if you plan to do counter service some times since only Jambo House has counter service. There are a lot of activities in Jambo House as well such as the story telling at the fire pit, the night vision goggles, cookie decorating, etc.

The advantages with Kidani are the slightly larger living area in the 1BR portion, the additional bathroom (2 in the 1BR portion, 1 in the 2nd BR), a separate shower stall in the master bathroom (vs. Jambo's combined whirlpool tub and shower) and two real beds in the 2nd bedroom since it is a dedicated 2BR. The water play area at the new pool area looks like fun for the kids but the pool itself looks to be smaller than the one at Jambo House.

Tough decision!
